About to watch last nights - sat 12th July Episode e4

The 13 Shackstead address was established in previous episodes (apparently, via the "previously...") as a hoax caller. Jan saw that address as the caller's location and ran through the questions they have for hoaxes. The pizza questions - asking for a pizza on an emergency call has been known to be a way for people to alert emergency services without letting the person in the room with them know.

It was clearly Bryn attempting to call for help and not being able to for various reasons, leading eventually to him retaliating and killing his abusive husband. He said he asked for pizza. Jan was in the ED for some reason at that moment and, I guess, ran back to the dispatch room to do her job. They couldn't work out a way for Jan to get that information without her being told in person?

What has the baby's mother been in before? I recognised her from something.

Tried to watch it this morning and all I got was Gladiators. I don't have access to BBC player so can't watch it now.

I know they've lost their major trauma status but surely they wouldn't be that quiet? Where are all the infected boils and vomiting children and hamster bites and random drunks that are usually all over the waiting room??

There still seemed to be people in the waiting area but little urgency to treat them. If St J now takes all the trauma patients minor injuries waiting times would increase and better to head over to Holby!

They were closed to trauma so just minor injuries, right? So they’d have plenty to keep them going.

It did say that less people were coming because people had lost confidence in them so chose to go to St James over them

She is SO familiar but her IMDB credits didn’t turn up anything that made me go: oh THAT’S where I know you from!

She was in an episode of Patience recently. I looked her up then as she just seems so familiar, but I can't say I'd seen her in anything else.

It’s nice to have a bit of excitement and drama in the show though!

I've looked her up now (her name is Jeany Spark) and I think I know her from a very silly Greg Davies sitcom called 'Man Down' that we watched with our teenager a couple of years ago. She's the ex-girlfriend who pops up quite a lot. I think I thought 'What's she been in before??' when I watched Patience as well!

sad also the husband who was being abused flipped and killed the partner. Couldn’t we had a happy ending an he escaped the abusive relationship

I didn’t reliese pizza was a code. I thought as he had a head injury he was concussed and didn’t know what he was saying

It’s actually quite a common thing that if a man or woman is in danger they ring 999 and pretend to order a pizza and based on what they say the operator can work out if they need an ambulance or the police (usually both) and the pretence continues until help arrives.

i.e the call handler would say: “Is the person armed? If they are, request extra cheese” (for example).

Or, “Are you being kidnapped? If so, enquire about side orders.”

etc etc

To be fair Jan gave him lots of opportunities to confirm that he needed help. She said just say yes to several questions and he didn't say anything.

I don’t think it’s common but it has been done. It never made too much sense to me that someone on grave danger would just be able to call a pizza tbh.

I was going to start watching this when my 12 year old was in the room but then thought about the rape storyline and the bulimia storyline and turned it off

But we don’t know that Cam has done something do we as the beaten up guy who arrived at A&E wasn’t the man who raped Siobhan.

Cam might be thinking of doing something….. but I can’t see him getting full on violent.

I imagine something is more likely going to happen to Cam if he does decide to do anything with the man who attacked Siobhan. He does seem to be getting the brunt of it all.
