About to watch last nights - sat 12th July Episode e4

OP posts:

It seems my recordy box failed to record again.

A summary of last night's episode will be greatly appreciated.

Teddy and Iain's first HART shift. They pick up a guy who's become ill on a flight with a suspected deadly and highly contagious virus (Marburg?). They're meant to be transporting him to London in a sealed tube with strict infection control protocols but he starts panicking and then fitting, showing symptoms that are inconsistent with the virus. Teddy persuades Iain that they have to lift their masks to calm him down and later open the tube to intubate him. He pukes up a condom full of drugs, then coughs a load of foam into Iain's face. They immediately get a text saying that his blood tests are back and it is Marburg (as well as a drug overdose). They have to divert to Holby because of the overdose and Iain has to run in heroically and do CPR on him while they're trying to remove a load of drug condoms from his stomach, because he's been exposed anyway. Teddy starts getting chest pain in the ambulance while waiting to be decontaminated but doesn't tell anyone, has a bollocking from the HART guy for breaching infection control protocol, resigns from HART, and is left clutching his chest in the ambulance on his own.

Ngozi has to look after a guy who's hypothermic after an ice bath - his horrible mum has been making him have conversion therapy because she can't cope with him being gay. Gets triggered, wants to lick alcohol hand gel, walks off shift, but comes back, talks to Dylan, speaks in AA for the first time, takes up Dylan's offer to be her sponsor.

Indie and cam go to the pub to prepare for indie's job interview in Sheffield. Cam puts his glasses on. Indie goes weird and can't look at him.

I think that's it!

MsFelicityLemon · 13/07/2025 10:44

That's one impressive recap!! Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Quite the action packed episide it seems. (Also how has Ngozi gone from showing no signs of addiction to getting the urge to lick hand gel. An act only seen in the most severe addicts!!)

Internaut · 13/07/2025 10:48

As soon as Ian and Teddy received all those strict instructions about infection control, you just knew the idiots were going to break them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2025 11:56

Fab recap @spiderlight

purpleme12 · 14/07/2025 15:25

Wow it's a bit claustrophobic this man in the ambulance

purpleme12 · 14/07/2025 21:01

Bump

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 15/07/2025 07:45

I couldn't see this thread so started one, but this was my initial post:

Bloody Teddy. First we had the 'I've been sexually assaulted but rather than tell anyone I'll get into bare-knuckle fighting' (and probably drink and drugs but I've forgotten), and NOW we've got 'I've contracted a deadly, Ebola-style virus, but because I've brought it on myself, rather than admit I'm showing symptoms, I'll just carry on, infecting everyone as I go.'
I just don't GET these dumb arse storylines based on silence and keeping stuff in.
I know it's not AIBU... but AIBU? There are so many great shows that don't feel the need to do this and sort out 'drama' super quickly. They don't suffer for it.

I agree about Ngozi. For weeks... well, pretty much ever since she's been in the show, I've had no inkling of an addiction. Maybe that's the point - alcoholism can affect anyone - but she always struck me as the golden child of A&E.

I think I picked up that Nicole's mum was an alcoholic- is that so? - hence the harsh reaction.

EBearhug · 15/07/2025 07:54

I thought Teddy was having problems with his heart condition rather than Marburg (which is why I was surprised he got into HART anyway.)

Marburg is a haemorrhagic disease like Ebola, I think. I assume they know what they were potentially dealing with, but it's Casualty, so as mentioned, of course they were going to break all the protocols.

purpleme12 · 15/07/2025 07:56

Yes I think it was his heart condition

spiderlight · 15/07/2025 12:34

It was his heart - he was doing the Valsalva manouevre at the start of the sequence to slow down his heart rate.

Oh. Now I feel stupid; I've obviously missed that he had a heart problem. Thanks for the correction ๐Ÿ™‚

It would be easy to miss if you weren't there for the two episodes it was mentioned in, as it hasn't held him back in the slightest, and it's only been remembered now it's useful for plot purposes.

Oldglasses · 16/07/2025 10:42

Agree that it was his heart that was failing, I hope he doesn't die, I like Teddy! He was a dick in the ambulance though opening the chamber thing and being so confident the guy didn't have Marburg. Even Iain the renegade was telling him not to do it!

I was expecting a car crash and deadly germs everywhere!

daffodilandtulip · 19/07/2025 22:20

Been away so just caught up. Nice to see more Dylan action but I hope he doesn't get hurt and take it personally when Ngozi goes off the rails. I used to enjoy Ian action too but that inevitably brings Faith now so.

I think I've been watching casualty for too long as it was all a bit predictable tonight.

NortyTorty · 20/07/2025 14:42

Was it on last night? Itโ€™s gone from my โ€˜continue watchingโ€™ on iPlayer!

No it wasnt. According to my TV mag, last week's episode was the last until 2nd August. I'd imagine it's not on Iplayer until then either but could be wrong.

a son, not a cat ๐Ÿ˜†

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/07/2025 22:34

A son who moved like a cat?

OP posts:
bizzey · 26/07/2025 22:48

I think the son is called Felix !

Jacob's son (the paramedic) is called Blake and he has a mental health issue that I just cannot spell !

I tried variations of it to see if auto would correct me ...but no .

Will look it up and come back !
