last thread full and canโ€™t see a new one anywhere

About to watch last nights - sat 12th July Episode e4

I was only half watching, and looked up to check when I heard Sinbad's voice. I saw him on something else, possibly Midsomer or something like that, and he is just Sinbad, regardless of what character he is actually playing.

I thought Faith realising the pregnancy was further along than she thought meant she couldn't just take a pill to terminate.

It was an incredibly difficult watch this evening, and Melanie Hill played it so well. I was a bit annoyed with Flynn. He knows she is a dedicated member of the team and there would be a very good reason as to why she wasn't there or being her usual self.

It was also sad with Dr Cheung.

Melanie Hill was fabulous but the scenes with Flynn were so out of character for him. As was Iainโ€™s initial reaction to Faith being pregnant. The writers really messed up those scenes in what was otherwise an exceptional episode.

I donโ€™t know that they were out of character for him, actually. He reacts very impulsively in moments of high stress, and the CQC visit has certainly created that. He is used to Siobhan being the calm, everything will be all right part of their partnership.

Melanie Hill deserves an award. She was so good.

How many other people of my age (fifties) were thrown back to their childhood when Derek Griffiths was wheeled in as the second casualty from the crashed car man (Sinbad! ๐Ÿ˜‚)? Or was it just me??

That was his surname! I knew his first but for the life of me couldn't remember his second. He was in Playaway, wasn't he?

It's odd to think that's how Dylan was seen back then, when we see his positive characteristics. But maybe the mum wasn't being horrible, that may well be how he behaved (or how his ND behaviour was interpreted anyway)

@daffodilandtulip It is hard to think of him being like that at one time, but he is an alcoholic so it probably is accurate of what he might have been like when drunk

LaudElpus · 02/02/2026 13:15

Brilliant work from Melanie Hill and of course the writer . Her stillness and her facial expressions spoke more about what had happened to her than anything else could. A masterclass.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2026 18:21

Havenโ€™t read the replies yet as still watching but the reporting and the evidence of the assault is hard watching esp the swabs

i can feel my eyes tearing up as the amount of time that soibhen has prob done this as the nurse and then seeing her experience it the other side

amazing acting

passes tissues

It was an excellent piece of TV, and I thought very informative in terms of what women can expect should they be a victim of such an assault. Im sure there will be women who are attacked who remember not to wash and to take a change of clothes so that they can preserve evidence - and that SARCs (sexual l assault referral centres) exist and you don't have to go via the Police.

It really made me angry though. There are so many shit men around inflicting horrors against women. I wondered what his 'day after the night before' was like.

Our lovely Siobhan.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2026 22:00

I did fee for Dylan. Tho least son knows his dad didnโ€™t abandon him - he didnโ€™t now

and yes he was an alcoholic and prob horrible then so I get why the mum didnโ€™t tell him

so dr Chang is a bulimic ?

Seems like it doesn't it

hellotomrw · 03/02/2026 23:12

Unrelated but after such an outstanding performance by Melanie Hill I looked her up and did you know she was married to and had kids with Sean Bean? (Divorced now)

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2026 23:59

Yes knew that and was in bread years ago

OP posts:
EBearhug · 04/02/2026 00:18

Oh, she's always going to be Aveline.

hellotomrw · 04/02/2026 12:40

Bread came out before I was born so not on my radar. But she is an incredible actress in this I have to say.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/02/2026 06:04

Married to Sean Bean = not that exclusive a club to belong to ๐Ÿ˜‚ Heโ€™s now on wife number 5!

bizzey · 08/02/2026 17:46

Are we brewing an Eastenders moment with them 2 ..

...who do you think you are telling me what to do .. you're not my father ...

Oh yes I am !!!

Or something along those lines !

I am sure the script writers will come up with a better dialogue ..๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”. ..or maybe not !!๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜…

daffodilandtulip · 09/02/2026 07:36

I feel sorry for Dylan. He obviously doesn't have the skills to process this.

MsFelicityLemon · 09/02/2026 19:59

I too thought we were going to have an EastEnders / Star wars style mashup of 'I'm your father'.

Though I much confess I was totally distracted throughout al those scene on how incredibly clean the glass in the viewing window was. (Also, why was there a viewing window? Was that a purpose built diaster-training room? One that just magically appeared like the ambulance control room.

(Edited as I was dictating - and Google made madness of my first words ๐Ÿ˜)

purpleme12 · 09/02/2026 20:19

It still amuses me the control room

purpleme12 · 09/02/2026 20:19

And Jan's role

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2026 20:28

I don't think they mentioned Mum at all which was a bit odd but then let's not let reality get in the way of a casualty episode. After all tracking them down so quickly with just the fact he goes to a park with a red slide and has to cross a road to get there was a bit of a leap as well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/02/2026 20:53

She did pin point via 3 masts his phone so had a vague area

I think a single mum having a seizure on the floor, no one would have made mention. Why is it a bit odd for it to be a single dad? You realise families come in all shapes, right?

I realise that thank you. I think wether it was Mum or Dad having a seizure on the floor a standard question to ask the little boy would be do you live with anyone else? Do you have a Mummy or Daddy we can call? Etc. and a standard question when the paramedics arrived at the hospital with a small child in tow would be has anyone called Mum/Dad etc?
