I was really happy to see Dan get GOTW this week.

I'm in two minds about the transformation challenge, I think it sits well in some weeks, like reuse/reduce/recycle (although I didn't like the tent challenge this time) and kids week, but I'd like to see them do something else in other weeks. Having said that, last week where they all got the same taekwondo kit for the challenge was really good. I'd like to see some mending and alteration challenges instead of transformation in some weeks. Having to cobble together a kids fancy dress costume, mending something or altering an existing garment, or making a bag out of an old denim jacket are things a lot people watching might do or be inspired to try, but making a party outfit out of old cycling kit etc probably isn't.

Yes I would do something like that but not make a skimpy party outfit

MaePedwarGolau · 16/08/2025 14:30

I spotted this on youtube earlier and thought this sort of thing would be so much more interesting to watch than the current transformation challenge, although I'm not sure if they could make it work for the show. I'd also love to see an alteration or mending challenge as other posters have suggested.

(sorry, I don't know how to embed the video, it's just a short)

@MaePedwarGolau I loved that! She was so talented. Even though the dress ultimately looked fairly similar to before, with the ruffles, etc, she really updated it into something that was clearly more her style and that she would wear.

I'd love to see them doing something like that - too often the 'transformation' is something that you think 'no one would actually wear that though, it's dreadful!'

MaePedwarGolau · 16/08/2025 18:24

@Hatty65 I actually liked the original dress, but I love what she did with it, she really made it her own

Hatty65 · 16/08/2025 19:43

I liked the original one too! I'd have worn the dress she described as 'frumpy'. 😁

But I'm 60 rather than 20.

MrsSpendTooMuch · 17/08/2025 07:05

That was a really impressive transformation!

ChompandaGrazia · 19/08/2025 21:05

Anyone watching?

AugustDieSheMustTheAutumnWindsBlowChillyAndCold · 19/08/2025 21:07

Yes, I’m watching!

ChompandaGrazia · 19/08/2025 21:08

The heels on the guest judge! I couldn’t manage two steps in them!

HeadNorth · 19/08/2025 21:10

Kit’s cowboy outfit 🤠

Kit’s cowboy outfit 🤠

It’s quite the look isn’t it.

Halsall · 19/08/2025 21:12

I’m here too 🫡

AugustDieSheMustTheAutumnWindsBlowChillyAndCold · 19/08/2025 21:12

I missed something at the beginning.

I think Esme and Sara were talking about what was in her lunchbox. Sara said “Vodka” but the subtitles said “Sweets.”

Perhaps it was Esme who said “Sweets,” but the subtitles never said “Vodka.”

Halsall · 19/08/2025 21:15

The words 'adaptive' and 'placket' have lost all meaning for me now.

CrushingOnRubies · 19/08/2025 21:18

has kit ever not come first in the pattern challenge?

never heard placket said so many times in 10 minutes before

AugustDieSheMustTheAutumnWindsBlowChillyAndCold · 19/08/2025 21:20

Kit is really good, in my opinion.

There are a couple of other contestants who I warm to more 😃 but Kit’s
sewing is excellent.

SwedishEdith · 19/08/2025 21:21

I know he's probably going to win, and deservedly, but I just don't warm to Kit at all.

ShoAndSew · 19/08/2025 21:22

Am enjoying Dan's shirt

HeadNorth · 19/08/2025 21:24

I think Kit is adorable- he is so enthusiastic and positive about every challenge. And the lad can sew.

AugustDieSheMustTheAutumnWindsBlowChillyAndCold · 19/08/2025 21:25

Ooh, that’s the first time I’ve heard someone say delulu, other than in news reports yesterday about words added to a Cambridge dictionary.

I wasn’t paying attention. I didn’t hear it and moreover I’ve never heard it or know what it means.

ShoAndSew · 19/08/2025 21:32

Kit's should have been last.

Am also baffled by delulu

GenieGenealogy · 19/08/2025 21:33

Is it not just a cutesy way of saying "deluded"?

AugustDieSheMustTheAutumnWindsBlowChillyAndCold · 19/08/2025 21:40

Yes, Genie was right, it means delusional or deluded. If I remember correctly.

Kit said it.

ChompandaGrazia · 19/08/2025 21:41

Like craycray?

And is shearing the same as smocking?
