I'm looking forward to it.

I’m really warming to Kaz, she’s such a talented sewer.

Yes Esme has always made negative comments.

Did anyone think that Glendora looks like Sinitta’s sister?

Why not? Women wear trousers. A kilt is just a type of skirt, and it's a beautiful garment on a man.

Really enjoying this series. I'd love Kaz to win, but they are all good!

that style of dress only really looks good when the skirt is very long, so either a model with long legs where the back barely dusts the floor, or a shorter model where it has a train.

But it also requires at least a much smaller waist than hips, to create a shape for the skirt, added boobs accentuates it.

On that bloke it looked like one of those paper dolls with clothes.

forgot to say - i think the GOTW was inspired, and fitted the brief way better than all the Versace-wannabes. It took the Versace concept and subverted it, more Versace than anything else on the show.

The Westwood-transformation challenge - so bloody boring.

Loved the wrap dress. That really required solid dressmaking skills.

Just to throw in my penny's worth, I just dont think Kit's mtm suited the model's body..The top part would have been better with the see through part cut differently - deeper maybe. The skirt just didn't hang well. Didn't help the model stomped up in it swaying from side to side like an action man being "walked".

Wasn't taken by any of the winning makes this week. Thought plenty of the others were better .

Mind you I like the transformation bit - so appreciate my think may not be in same ball part as most!!

I wonder if it might have looked better on the actual model that it was made for rather than a random production team member (I assume) who stepped in when the model was ill. I will give Kit a little benefit of the doubt for that, but it definitely could have been more than it turned out to be.

possibly. But the proportions were all wrong. The skirt needed to be way longer and more spectacular. I didn't like the top - that's a matter of taste, but i really loved the button band. I've made those before and they really are very lovely.

The man in the dress, WHY

Because it is on the BBC, so if it isn’t ‘queer’ , it’s just too dated, darling.

Just watching E2 & 3 on catch-up. I thought Stuart's made to measure dress was very badly fitted but they didn't seem to comment on that at all. Kit's didn't fit well either, too long on the torso and too tight on the waist. However, given it was made for a different model it's more understandable.

I feel like they judge Gaynor very harshly. She has real skill. Sad to see Glendora go home, she undeniably had a bad day and was the right choice but it's clear she's a very good experienced sewer. The standard is thankfully high this year.

So far Kaz, Orla, Gaynor and Kit are my favourite sewers. But overall I'm very relieved the producers picked contestants with ability rather than big personalities this series.

The transformation challenge really grates on my nerves. I'd prefer an alteration challenge a bit like the first few series.

If anyone is interested, Patrick’s book Less is 99p on kindle today

PickAChew · 03/08/2025 23:16

I've just watched the House of Alistair Sewing Bee Natter on YouTube and they picked up on the fit of Stuart's dress. It wouldn't have mattered so much if it wasn't for the lace insert, as the weight of the main fabric made that collapse in on itself, so you couldn't get away with skimming rather than close flitting.

Thanks @LIZS , just bought it!

The pattern challenge looks like really hard work, especially if you’ve not seen the item before.

Pancakeflipper · 05/08/2025 21:17

Agree,.this does look tough. Not much room for error without it showing up .

HeadNorth · 05/08/2025 21:22

Kit triumphs again in the pattern challenge- he is head and shoulders the best technical sewer. I loved the Korean jacket, but what a tricky challenge in the time.

CaptainMyCaptain · 05/08/2025 21:23

Kit is really very good.

MoltenLasagne · 05/08/2025 21:26

3hr15 seems very tight. I would take a good hour to get my head around the pattern and cut the pieces out!

SabrinaThwaite · 05/08/2025 21:30

That’s such a complicated pattern to complete in only 3 hrs 15 mins.

LIZS · 05/08/2025 21:33

I wonder who makes the sample. Would live to see Patrick and Esme’s takes on some of the challenges and transformations. Novello in trouble I think, pretty much given up.

HeadNorth · 05/08/2025 21:33

Kit and Caz are the front runners. Gaynor is struggling

MorrisZapp · 05/08/2025 21:33

Kit is going to win isn't he, kept on his toes by Caz.

'any gender'... heavy eye roll.

HeadNorth · 05/08/2025 21:34

Kit is the best so far but it is early days. Novello to go unless she pulls this out the bag

ChompandaGrazia · 05/08/2025 21:34

Kit is certainly going to win. He’s very accurate and his designs are interesting. Seems like a nice person as well.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 05/08/2025 21:37

Novello seems to struggle with interpreting pattern instructions - think she's doing the classic not reading things through before she starts.

Really like the jeogori and feel inspired to make one myself. Interesting week.

Pancakeflipper · 05/08/2025 21:41

Oh Dan. It looks Christmad Elf.

MorrisZapp · 05/08/2025 21:42

Why is Dan's mtm giving The Elves and the Shoemaker vibes 😂
