Gardner has a very cute bum

blondes fans herself

def no armpit sex for me. Very tiggleish

my friend uses a crystal. She doesn’t smell

can’t believe Carrie just dumped Duncan for aiden that’s not friendship.

I’m assuming that was expensive Gin

joy is not gonna be impressed that a bottle is smashed.

not sure why we see CHARLOTTE and her vertigo

Poor Anthony, my mum does not like him not sure why as she had an older boyfriend , older husband in fact

PurplebeadedFendi · 18/07/2025 21:36

Miranda's episode with the gin is a bit reminiscent of her SATC episode with the chocolate cake. Standing in the kitchen, struggling to resist scoffing any more of it, eventually throwing it in the bin and quirting washing up liquid on it.

MauriceTheMussel · 18/07/2025 22:39

“Clown on a fag break”

Nailed it.

As per, this episode ended and I exclaimed “nothing bloody happened!”

Hoping Aidan just dies or is murdered etc. even my husband hates him. When Aidan was bitching about the small closet, I had to shout at the TV: “her dead husband paid for that, so you can shut your fat mouth!”

He reminds me of the bad guy in the gold portrait painting in the Ghostbusters movie.

EachandEveryone · 18/07/2025 22:51

I had to fast forward the Aidan scenes I just can’t look at him. I remember in satc all my friends loving him but I always knew he was a controller.

The gardener is deffo going to be from old money.

i can hardly remember Miranda’s alcoholic years.

MauriceTheMussel · 18/07/2025 22:53

Miranda’s alcoholism to me seems like a Mandela Effect. Was it in SATC, the films?! Have a line of dialogue?!

😂😂😂

If Aiden becomes SATC world’s first murder victim, I am down with that. Turn the series into a murder mystery. Samantha can come back to solve it like a sexed up Miss Marple.

myladyjane · 19/07/2025 04:21

@MauriceTheMussel the alcoholism was in ajlt season 1 and was cured by being finger banged by che. All Steve’s fault natch. I miss steve..

Doubleraspberry · 19/07/2025 05:58

@PurplebeadedFendi 😂😂😂

dayswithaY · 19/07/2025 08:14

What a load of nothing that episode was.

Lisa is a professional, mature woman but one brush against Marion’s knee and she runs away to a - supermarket?

Lisa’s circus tent - feels like the costume dept are just having a laugh and seeing how far they can push things before they all end up in full blown fancy dress costumes.

Carrie is so boring and serious now. She used to be light hearted and funny in a goofy, annoying way but now she’s like someone’s miserable old Auntie scowling at anyone having fun.

I’m only still watching as I’m fascinated by how far they will drag this thing away from the original that we all love.

greengreyblue · 19/07/2025 08:25

To be fair, it wasn’t just the knee brush. She has a crush on Marion.
I still love this show even though I find some of the storylines unrealistic It’s colourful and celebrates older women . Not much of that on our screens.
Also, SATC was of it’s time I don’t think AJLT can compare . Would rather have it than not have it.

FestivusMiracle · 19/07/2025 08:39

Loved Carrie’s pink dress and Charlotte’s jumpsuit (her waist looked tiny).

I thought Charlotte looked dreadful in that jumpsuit - squat and wide. I do find almost all of the clothes quite awful, apart from Carrie’s. LTW’s wardrobe in particular is verging on a joke.

Holluschickie · 19/07/2025 08:44

I read an interview with SJP where she defends Carrie putting up with Aidan because she is now more mature/ mellow and less fiery/reactive. Cynthia Nixon was defending new Miranda on How to Fail by saying thar even intelligent cosmopollitan New Yorkers don't know how to talk to black women, and hence her complete idiocy in S 1.🙄

I was really unconvinced by both.

GellerYeller · 19/07/2025 08:48

Agree it’s good to have a show celebrating middle aged women.
Loved Charlotte’s jumpsuit.
Hated LTW’s stripes and elephant.
Aiden was awful this episode and you could see Carrie realising after ther nap, when she started questioning him about his reasons for coming to stay.
I have a rock crystal too, it’s basically the active ingredient from other deodorants without the nasties. Why they eked a whole plot line out of it is beyond me. Unless another excuse for Aiden to mention his speed sticks.
I hope we get to see Anthony cooking for Gia.Who offered to buy big name gay art for her son. Even Anthony’s poet turned bread worker hails from moneyed origins!
It’s all so implausible isn’t it.

Holluschickie · 19/07/2025 08:51

See, I don't think it always celebrates middle aged women. It humiliates them quite a bit.

I’ve read quite a bit of commentary from POC saying that Miranda’s awkwardness was fairly realistic as far as their experiences go. I guess whether Miranda Hobbs would have been one of the gauchest is more a question - it’s not so much whether some/many women behave like that but whether that one specific character that we felt we knew well would be like that.

I am a PoC. 🙂 Certainly some people behave like that but Miranda in 2025?

But then old Miranda- a staunch and great friend- would also never have had sex in Carrie's kitchen while she was recovering from an operation and forced to pee in a bottle. It's like their personalities have been obliterated.

Holluschickie · 19/07/2025 09:10

Also does anyone think that NYC, which was a 5th character in SATC, is now invisible? They could be in any big city. I think it's partly because there's no voice over, and partly because there is so much focus on Harry's nether regions!

Yes! I love NY and would love to see it on screen.

i really really dislike Aiden. He gives me the creeps.

PurplebeadedFendi · 19/07/2025 09:47

Totally agree that NY was the fifth main character, and has been sadly missing. Part of that is the lack of voice over. Eg in the Boy, Interrupted episode we've been discussing, Carrie ends the episode saying, "Anything is possible: This is New York." Part of it is the women simply not doing much or going anywhere together. They were always out at the next hot name-checked club or restaurant or trendy venue, details supplied by Carrie's voice or via Sam having an event or one of them going to an established landmark - The Russian Tea Room, the Guggenheim, the Library etc. The were always walking along the streets, sitting in lively cafes, shopping. Plus of course the titles with the iconic NY landmarks reminding us of where we are. AJLT could be set anywhere really.

greengreyblue · 19/07/2025 09:50

I agree re NYC. I also miss titles and intro music. I wonder why they have lost the voiceover. Was such an anchoring part of SATC. It’s definitely needed with all of the various, random storylines.

It really is a dreadful book. Why Duncan’s intrerested in it I can only speculate

I think he’s interested in the contents of the author’s undies 😉

Jesus, I really honestly resent having to listen to Aidan's endless whining about his bloody kids. Also resent having to look at his awful tan and terrible hair. Can't believe she cancelled on Duncan last minute to go out to dinner and listen to more endless whining

Loved Charlotte's jumpsuit and Miranda's red dress. Didnt love that colour pink on SJP. Agree about LTW's clown outfit - shocking

Why the fuck was Miranda eating her cookie like a horse?!

I wish they would give Joy and her lovely outfits more than 3 seconds of airtime

The stupid vertigo stuff was cringe. No sign of Charlotte's kids this week though so hurray

I sort of agree but then some of the scenes of AJLT have been set in iconic restaurants such as Daniel (which is up there with one of my all-time favourite dinners of all time) and also featured on The Bear. It is niche, but I guess if you are a New Yorker they are fun to spot.
