It was meant to be funny that she was trying to flex her MK bag to LTW, whose bag was significantly more expensive. A bit like someone trying to flex their Ralph Lauren top to someone wearing a Chanel suit. It was a dig at someone being from Newark thinking it’s glamorous, unlike someone from Manhattan.

This was a boring episode. Why do we care about LTW dead dad? Silly storyline

the writing is so cringe

Harsh. It’s a reflection of the what happens to us all.

How did her dad die twice? Have I missed something?

In Season 1 episode 2, Lisa tells a grieving Charlotte that her (Lisa's) dad died the previous year. Then Lisa's dad pops up in Season 2 at a dinner party (played I think by Billy Dee Williams). Now he's been killed off again. I think the writers are having a bit of a laugh, as the original continuity issue was talked about in Season 2.

CowTown · 10/07/2025 17:24

In one of the first ever AJLT episodes, LTW tells Charlotte that her father’s death is the most difficult thing she had ever had to go through.

greengreyblue · 10/07/2025 17:28

Oh I don’t remember that. You have great memories!Thats awful writing though isn’t it?

The writers are now saying ‘it was her step father who died in that episode’ yeah right. Up there with Harry’s mum’s moving death date 😂

Edited

It's lazy writing, and went hand in hand with the way they were ripping up the characters and turning them into something unrecognisable, Miranda most obviously; but also in the way they explained Samantha's absence, as the sort of petty fall out scenario she just would never have been involved in.

Which one, when they went to Bed? I remember really coveting Carrie's draped hooded number she wore there. And of course there was Miranda in her skinny jeans looking incredibly pretty - why oh why didn't she go home with that beautiful red headed man she ended up in Bed with? Charlotte in a denim skirt and sparkly halter, which I always thought was an out of character look for her. I remember Samantha in a backless top and jeans? She always looked incredible, although out of the four of them, her clothes were the ones I least coveted - probably because we are diametrically opposite in height, shape and colouring, and her power dressing and block colour choices were too bold for me.

This one, Carrie always had the clothes & of course the shoes but this is something I'd wear, well a few years ago (woeful pic)

Scorchio84 · 11/07/2025 05:46

What was the dig at Michael Kors? Was that a dig? Not pricey enough for LTW?

I found Lisa particularly unlikeable in this episode. She is a snob and not a very nice one. Not everyone has the money for a Birkin and it wouldnt have cost her anything to say she liked the MK bag for kindness sake. She isnt very funny or very nice and I am disliking her character more and more!

ConstantlyFuriosa · 11/07/2025 06:11

Yes, I also love Samantha’s outfit from when they went to Bed. It was a sort of graffiti top and tight trews. Very eighties but in a cool way. I always thought Patricia Field dressed her exquisitely- even if it wasn’t my taste at the time. When I rewatch, you can tell she likes and respects her (and they remain friends, I believe) because she never makes her look like shit. I think one of the reasons Kim Catrall didn’t want to return was because Patricia wouldn’t be dressing her any more as the role went to her apprentice, Molly. Although I think PF dressed Kim for her cameo.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 11/07/2025 06:12

As for this week’s instalment: better. However, Duncan must be a really shit writer because if he thought Carrie’s Mills and Boon ‘the woman’ dreck was any good, he ain’t got no taste.

Nettleteaser101 · 11/07/2025 08:02

I was wondering, sorry if this has been said before but, did Carrie buy the house on her own or did Aiden give her some money towards it.? Not clear about that, I know she has millions from Big but, has she brought the house outright her self.
If she has she can do us and herself a big favour and tell Aiden to eff off. Oh and I don't remember him swearing before.

S3 episode 7

spoilers ahead

I really enjoyed this weeks episode. Plenty of Anthony (yay!), simmering storylines coming nicely to the boil and for some characters some decent fashion 👏

Plot lines
Obviously we have to talk about the fact that Duncan the Read writer would love that opening first line. I think that stretches the lines of incredulity more than LTW‘s dad having died twice 😂 loved the fact that Miranda went there discussing what we can also see regarding Carrie’s relationship with Aidan. Shame Duncan gives me such Berger vibes. I’d also be interested as to how you make an autobiography of Margaret Hilda ‘thrilling.’

Loving Seema looking like a pirateBianca Jagger 😂 although I had to look away when she tried to dance. Cringe. Although I did love the fact that the Hot Gardner could be out a tune. Would’ve loved it if he just sung Betty Davis’ eye singular 😂 Loved Henry being the theatre kid from school and LTW considering sending apology notes. Did not love the weird party look in the apartment… the wedding chairs and the balloons look like they belonged to the movie it. And the karaoke machine just looked like a plot device so that the sub cast could demonstrate the fact that they could sing? Enough now with Lily‘s stroppy teenager act. She must be 17/18 by now? Also loved the glorious shots of Bergdorf’s handbag department (a very happy place indeed!) and I confess my heart did sink when Harry was caught with the blonde woman.. what a betrayal. On MN everyone would be saying LTB for having an emotional affair 😂

Loved classic Anthony. We’ve all been there and made a terrible first impression with potential in-laws.… Although after Gia had told her story to Carrie, it did seems slightly weird that she had such an issue with the age difference between Giuseppe and Anthony. And notice the throw away line that Carrie uses about marriage? WTF? She married the love of her life and he died in distressing circumstances. Don’t throw that away, the rest of us are here for it!

talking of throwing things away, who scoops up crumbs from the side of the counter and then doesn’t put them in the bin but put them in the sink? Someone who doesn’t do our own cleaning that’s who.

In other news, shoe has lived to see another episode!

Fashion,
I mean we’re all here for the odd Holly hobby hat or an errant pilgrim’s tricorn, but why on earth was Carrie dressed as MOTG for her own party? And for her lunch with Gia? Awful outfits. Although I have to say SJP is looking absolutely stunning in this series with a beautiful Sun kissed skin and her hair is definitely on pointLTW’s fashion forward run came to an end with that terrible Pucci jumpsuit. Didn’t love Miranda’s mustard yellow blouse and 1970s skirt combo but it was very Miranda. As was the silver lame jumpsuit for the party. Thankfully, she kept her clothes on this week! Charlotte was very Charlotte in her party princess dress 🥰

All in all, it was an enjoyable episode.

Hahaha Duncan loves the first line?!?! I assumed he was being savagely sarcastic but then it turned out…not.

I really enjoyed this episode!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 11/07/2025 10:48

SPOILER ALERT

I can't believe they put a karaoke machine and Patti LuPone in the same episode without the obvious happening! The line about the party having too much singing for her liking was funny though.

So glad Miranda went there re Carrie's relationship. I would've liked her to go further and tell Carrie that Aiden is a waste of space but I guess she knew when not to push it.

PurplebeadedFendi · 11/07/2025 10:52

SPOILERS

Well I thought episode 7 was highly enjoyable!

The Hotfella with erect baguette at groin height walking past the ladies' table in the opening credit felt like a cheeky throwback to SATC. All that was missing was a Samantha quip.

Patti LuPone as Giuseppe's mother was fun and meant we got to see lots of Anthony at his neurotic best. Interesting to see her following her near "cancellation" recently over her remarks about Audra Macdonald (who stars with Cynthia Nixon in The Gilded Age).

I simply don't believe the Carrie and Duncan's mutual appreciation over their book chapters, but I am enjoying the flirtation and Carrie taking sips from his glass during the party. I hoped he's sing! After having told Aiden that monogamy hadn't been in her 5 year plan, I don't understand why she got so angry at Miranda for noticing the attraction. And I really hate the way Miranda is always on tenterhooks over their friendship and worrying she's mortally offended Carrie.

Miranda being the Karaoke master just feels all wrong to me. She was always so reserved in SATC. This is the demented holiday rep Miranda from Movie 2. However, I thought she looked quite fabulous in her silver, Blakes 7 jumpsuit. I really like her dynamic with Joy, lots of humour and the ability to get irritated with each other without some big drama. Feels like an honest relationship. Joy looked stunning at the party in that olive green dress.

I'm very glad Harry has announced his cancer to the Charlotte's friends. I am glad he's refusing to feel sorry for himself and the old Harry spark seems to have come back with his illness. They really do need to tell their children, though, before they hear about it via gossip.

Hot gardener and Seema were sweet, even though her formerly rich lady struggling with pauper living is going to get old really fast.

Mitzy funny doing her Lady Gaga karaoke act, and gallery lady has some pipes on her, loved her turn. Would have loved a song from Herbert/George Washington and Gia/Patti Lupone. Absolutely relieved there was no song from Miranda, Charlotte and Carrie, I'm still not over the cringe fest from SATC Movie 2.

Teen watch: Lily is beyond fucking awful, such a brat. Rock was a rockstar this episode, recognising Charlotte is going through something and telling her sister to get over herself. Lisa's son's Broadway set was funny and cringy, especially in the presence of the Broadway legend that is Patti Lupone. Not much for Brady to do other than continue to be pleasant and nice to his mum, which is a great contrast to the last 2 seasons.

Fashion: Wasn't keen on Miranda's Circle Line looking outfit at the lunch. Silver jump suit fabulous. I thought Carrie looked stunning at her lunch with Gia and I liked her structured dress at the party. Silver a bit of a theme. Not keen on her pink dress at the lunch which is obviously too long for her and it looks like she's wearing parachute material. Charlotte looking very Charlotte in her pink, princess party dress, but she looked great. Can someone get Seema some clothes that aren't brown, please?! Lisa in a bit of 70s fabulousness, and I have a dress just like that from H&M's 2024 season but in a softer colour pallet.

Overall, it was a nice, light episode until Carrie's defensiveness at the end over the absolutely obvious.

Spoilers

Carrie is such a bitch. Chewing Miranda out when she teased get about sipping from the glass. Saying her and Aiden have 20 years on her month long relationship.
No Carrie you dated Aiden for a bit then cheated on him. He then had children and got married. Meanwhile you had multiple other men, married big and was with him for years before becoming a wealthy widow. Now you’ve been back together a bit, but not really together as he has been sleeping with the ex wife. So no not a 20 year relationship.
Also basically letting the cat out the bag regarding Harry, throwing Charlotte a big party and telling Miranda she has the bigger house. What a cow.
Loved Patti as the potential mother in law. But now wondering how old Anthony is !
Seema and the gardener, I bet he’s actually rich.
