You're not supposed to mention the testaments on this thread! Can you remove your post so not too many people see it?

BIWI · 02/07/2025 08:09

Yep - bit of a big spoiler there!

BBQBertha · 02/07/2025 08:27

Would people stop being the spoiler police? This whole thread has been RUINED by the distraction of people trying to censor what’s posted. Don’t post ahead of UK TV time, fair enough, but a reference to a widely advertised sort of spin off is not a spoiler 🙄

BonjourMinou · 02/07/2025 08:40

There's literally one episode to go, then we can all discuss the Testaments! I re-read it recently myself and I'm looking forward to talking all about it!

But people have specifically asked for the testaments not to be mentioned, those people would be gutted to see a spoiler like that, just saying an early morning post could be removed before it upsets too many people.

Thatsrhesummeroverthen · 02/07/2025 08:48

The thread has come close to being spoiled by the people posting spoilers, not the people asking them not to!

Thatsrhesummeroverthen · 01/07/2025 22:29

The plane was just the mop up - loads of commanders had been killed the night before.

Still some in Washington DC. They wouldn't all have come to the wedding, would they?

Thatsrhesummeroverthen · 02/07/2025 08:51

I didn't mean that though - I think there is a real chance of the Americans taking Boston (and its surrounding area) back, which at least puts a dent in Gilead.

WizardOfAus · 02/07/2025 08:57

Episode 9 felt incredibly rushed.

One moment, June is in prison. The next, she’s about to be executed. Suddenly, she’s back in Canada, plotting her next move — and before you know it, she’s back in Gilead, poorly disguised as Lawrence’s chauffeur, somehow slipping across borders and waltzing through what must be the world’s least secure airport.

It really took me out of the story and kind of ruined the episode for me

BonjourMinou · 02/07/2025 08:58

I keep forgetting how big Gilead is! We think Boston represents the whole of Gilead, but of course the commanders were heading to Washington and I guess there would be more of the same all over.
Where was June when she went to the part of Gilead where they had sewn the mouths shut a few series ago? (Have I dreamed that?) Was that Washington?

I've forgotten do much, I feel like I need to re-watch the whole thing again

It's not 'censoring' when this is a very clearly stated 'No spoilers' thread.

And yes, references to characters who will feature in future spin-offs does constitute a spoiler. It's really not that difficult just to post about episodes which have already aired on C4. Is it?

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 02/07/2025 09:11

I've not read the Testaments, I've not read the Handmaid's Tale either. Anything posted about The Testaments is a spoiler to me so I'd rather not hear about it, same would go for what happened in the Handmaids Tale before it veered away from the book (I wasn't posting back then).

But the arguing is derailing the thread. It also (along with spoilers) puts people off posting.

I always forget it's not just one city. I always think of Gilead as say London or Bristol when in fact it's the whole of the States.

I need to rewatch from the beginning I think (and read the book).

I think the whole series has been a bit rushed with a lot of “suspend your disbelief” moments.
i’d love to know was there a change of writers through the series 1-6.

I remember that but don't recall where they were. Wasn't that Washington DC? I'm not sure.

I feel like rewatching it all too!

Just googled and the handmaid's in Washington DC have rings sewn into their mouths to keep them shut. It's series 3.

It so was a big spoiler! As it referenced a character who will feature in The Testaments, thus making it clear that they have survived Gilead/the rebellion.

Not everyone has read The Testaments, so it was unfair to reveal that information.

Portakalkedi · 02/07/2025 09:42

Can I just add that if anyone is planning to read The Testaments, the audio book is better.

This thread has not been ruined by posters pointing out spoilers. I don’t want spoilers, thank you very much.

References to The Testaments are spoilers, so you can do one.

Well it is , if a certain character is mentioned and then you know they aren’t dead /survived

But it’s a separate show. It can’t be a spoiler about THT as it isn’t THT 😬

The deleted post referenced a character who will feature in The Testaments, so anyone who read it knows they will survive.

So yes, that is very much a spoiler.

For someone complaining about the thread being 'ruined' by arguments over spoilers, you seem to be doing a lot of arguing yourself.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize that! But also... The Testaments novel has been out for 6 years already. How is it a spoiler at this point?
