Woah, the entire audience for Anohni and the johnsons are still, you can hear a pin drop.. just transfixed by his voice, and his lyrics, its extraprdinary

Totally! So beautiful - not heard since Antony & the days either. Just as brilliant as back then - thanks for starting this thread - great place to share the love & discover new too.

They usually have good energy but it was completely missing for the first hour. Glad it picked up towards the end!

Umbongoumbongo999 · 28/06/2025 00:01

Loving The 1975. I saw them a few times on the last tour, they seem to be gravitating towards a model of 'weird arty first half' that doesn't really land (even though some of the songs are bangers), followed by a rocking greatest hits set for the second half. He may have been nervous but that was 90% character, 10% dickhead. He actually really owns that stage

sparrowflewdown · 28/06/2025 00:08

I'm in my 50s and Wet Leg have saved Glastonbury so far. Refreshing to see them. Talented and a lot of fun. I thought they were Scandinavian but they are from the Isle of Wight!

Give Loyle Carner on the Other Stage a listen if you haven’t heard him before. Very mellow rap, good storytelling about his life, his dad, being a father. Such a talent and brilliant to see him headlining

I gave up on the 1975 but absolutely loved Loyle Carner, great set. Loved Self Esteem too. Finding iPlayer really tricky to navigate!

Yeah he has a great stage presence. I'm impressed with him. Always quite liked the songs when I heard them but just wrote him off as a bit of an idiot but he seems very talented. There's something going on there, is he ADHD or something? Clearly overwhelmed at the end. This guys grown on me!

Aquarius1234 · 28/06/2025 00:13

This must be the first time in years that there has been a major technical fault after the main headliner!!
No presenters chat just a panda.
I've just spent several mins going through some hits of back in the day.
I think the Glastonbury archive footage is really bad!! So few acts or half a dozen performers of decades of acts!!
Yet we have a million episodes of every drama and comedy...

Plasticwaste · 28/06/2025 00:23

Glad I stayed the course for the 1975, that was a really lovely ending!

PlumpHobbit · 28/06/2025 00:25

Any festival looks my idea of hell (the toilets, the camping, the crowds, lots of standing) but I do enjoy watching Glastonbury on TV (in the comfort of my own home complete with flushing toilet)

Lewis Capaldi was brilliant, love the reaction he received from the crowd

Alanis - what a voice and she put on a proper show

Really enjoyed Biffy Clyro

1975 were good, DH likes them, I like a couple of their songs, Sex is probably my favourite so glad they played that. Lead singer certainly dances to his own tune

Wish they'd televise some of Arcadia

Bit depressing to hear that some people think En Vogue are a 'modern day Spice Girls'

Does no one know any music history these days??!!

If you watch The Hit List, it's shocking how little younger pp know about older music ( ie music from the 70s, 80s or even 90s...)

JaneJeffer · 28/06/2025 00:38

I wonder if I could get away with wearing pop socks with shorts like the Lambrini Girls. That way I could cover my thread veins.

fruitandvegoverload · 28/06/2025 00:39

The iPlayer coverage is always so shit and nonsensical. I want to watch Four Tet again from the start but there's now way of doing this!

FFS he was taking the piss out of himself!! How do people not get this?
He is actually a very talented lyricist, but he followed his declaration with ‘Chocolate’; a not very sophisticated song he wrote as a teenager. I despair…

JaneJeffer · 28/06/2025 00:44

BBC Music on YouTube has some stuff on there for anyone like me without iplayer

Yes 50s here too and they are brilliant!

I’ve made very sure my kids do!

Yes and The English Teacher brilliant!

Quoted myself Grin I am getting too old for all this!

I'm just watching on BBC2. Wasn't that impressed with Alanis. Loved En Vogue (never heard of them before).

Just switched over to BBC4 to watch Franz Ferdinand.

I’m glad that someone else wasn’t impressed with Alanis. It would appear, at face value, that she cannot sing. Her tuning problems were plain to hear and her diction was appalling, to the point that hardly any of the lyrics could be deciphered.
Furthermore, can anyone enlighten me on why “rain on your wedding day” is ironic? Unfortunate maybe!

Ellen2shoes · 28/06/2025 01:59

Can’t wait for Celeste and Nile!!

Have always loved a Rod song but now have the ick.

Yes he has ADHD and has spoken about it quite a bit in the past and how it affects him. The BBC website describes him this morning (during this Glasto set) as both simultaneously cocksure and anxious which I think hits the nail on the head for me (something I recognise myself with ADHD)

DJSteves · 28/06/2025 09:36

Wunderhorse are my next band to watch live. Gutted they are not supporting Sam Fender in Manchester.

I totally took it as a joke! Especially as they went on to sing Chocolate. It wasn't lost on everyone 😂

SomethingFun · 28/06/2025 10:02

Yeah it was a joke but it wasn’t very funny. Ironically I think chocolate is one of their more memorable songs probably because it’s a pop song and doesn’t need complex lyrics. The sound was good too but the set in general was so samey. The rest of the band are so blah I do feel like it’s not fair on the frontman to have to be doing 100% of the heavy lifting whilst they all stand stock still with expressionless faces.

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2025 10:04

Caught a bit today and I liked the 1975.
ds2 saw them at Reading and he said was a good atmosphere.
