"I can't milk it Brian, that's sort of the point"
Has to be the funniest line of the year.

I think Oscar has had a good entrance. I hope they keep him as the comical tearaway and dont get him in a dark story. He isn't really a bad boy, he only crashed a stollen car into a bin at the back of poundland 🤣

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2025 19:58

Oscar has stolen the show this week 😆
A very OTT character, but strangely addictive.

Shellingbynight · 15/07/2025 21:11

Oscar is a problem, and not just the problem they’ve got him down as. Someone above mentioned Oscar’s arms - yes he constantly windmills them around, maybe the actor is nervous but it's a bad habit. There is another actor on EE who does this but I can’t remember who it is. I find Oscar interesting but he’s too much.

I did wonder why no one has suggested he’d be better placed with Uncle Jack.

So Stacey thinks £100k is a deposit on the Vic. But no one would give her a mortgage.

The best scenes were Phil and Julie. I’m glad Julie’s coming back next week because she’s quality. (And I loved the way they styled her.)

Alucard55 · 15/07/2025 22:56

I agree that Oscar is a bit too much but he's very like Max with his mannerisms. Just thinking Max could be quite camp as well.

Viewer23 · 15/07/2025 23:03

I don’t see Avani as streetwise, I think she’s been very sheltered in spite of the tough times she and her mum have been through. She puts on a big front but she is less experienced than she looks. That’s why she’s been in all the trouble with the drink and the drugs. She only just became sexually active and that was after the strip search by the police, she’s very vulnerable and didn’t really have anyone to confide in.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 15/07/2025 23:22

I didn’t think Stacey seemed that excited about the scratch card so guessed it was a con straight away.

@Shellingbynight Lauren did suggest Oscar go and stay with Jack but he didn’t seem to want to - did a type of woe is me speech about no one wanting him.

Lily would be too young for Oscar anyway wouldn’t she? She’s a fair bit younger than Amy I think.

Shellingbynight · 16/07/2025 07:58

I agree Stacey was not nearly excited enough about the scratch card, but it isn't a con, it's true surely. It's how Kat gets the Vic? (I thought the cast just found it such a tired old trope they were secretly rolling their eyes!)

I must have zoned out when Lauren mentioned Oscar going to Jack's. I agree he is quite like Max, except really amped up. Max had the same 'poor me' manipulative streak, doing sheeps eyes at Stacey while dragging on a cig.

Lily has just turned 15. Amy is 16 isn't she?

Southeastdweller · 16/07/2025 08:14

It’s not a con, just terrible writing that a permanently skint lone parent of three kids would react the way she did.

There’s no episode yet on iPlayer, which annoys me.

I expect they’ll bring in a new character as a love interest for Oscar because it doesn’t work him being with any of the teens because of him looking 28.

Stacey's bap wages will be topped up with universal credit which will be cut. 100k will last no time in London in that big house and 3 kids. Mind you it's Walford where everyone has money and I have never seen anyone actually pay for drinks in the Vic, or food in the caff 🤔

Shellingbynight · 16/07/2025 08:37

The scratch card scenes were so bizarre. Stacey & co were acting like she had won £500.

The scenes with Ian and Oscar were weird too. Ian knew he was faking yet gave him a bundle of cash. Ian is far too mean to do that!

I had wiped from my mind Ian's previous tenure at the Vic during Covid. It really makes no sense that he would want to go back there.

The storylining is so poor at the moment.

Except with Oscar we don't need to put subtitles on 😀

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 09:30

I did read that the scratch card was a con and she is winding Ian up, but not sure ? Who said that she bought in their shop ? She was casual about it.

Shellingbynight · 16/07/2025 09:53

Vinny came in and said she'd bought the card in his shop.
I would have thought Stacey would have put more energy into it if it was a con!

£100k sounds a lot but the mortgage needed on either the Vic or a house in the square would be massive and Stacey wouldn't get a mortgage. So I still don't see how Kat gets the Vic. But this producer doesn't seem to care about reality...

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 09:55

Oh Vinny of course ! I wasn’t paying attention.
I liked how they all glanced at the card and was ordering champagne straight away though! Made me laugh.

I agree, I think he’s been a great addition. It’s not often I warm to new characters so quickly!

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 09:59

Oscar and Ian ( Brian ) are funny together.
I guess his heard all the background stories from max and Tanya.

Shellingbynight · 16/07/2025 09:59

@Giantjoelguesser
I agree they seem to be going for 'comical' with Oscar's current crimes, crashing a car into a bin, conning Ian out of cash. But I doubt it was very funny for the neighbours who were petrol bombed, so if that is true (who knows with Oscar) it is already fairly dark.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 10:03

Tanya can hold her own I bet especially if Cora is living there too ! But I agree that being petrol bombed is scary for the neighbours when it was meant for them thanks to Oscar and his dubious behaviour
They are probably pleased his moved on.

Giantjoelguesser · 16/07/2025 10:56

Yes there's nothing comical about petrol bombs.
I've enjoyed the lighthearted parts of this week, It's been refreshing. I doubt it'll stay that way, as Oscar has had many threatening texts and is hiding a knife! It's a shame though as there are so many dark stories, one being Joel, and I can see the Ravi, Harry, Kojo situation going dark.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 11:05

I can see Kojo getting embroiled with the drugs by accident and it ending badly tbh.
Harry needs to hide them well away from Kojo , working and dealing in the same place is asking for trouble or he’ll only flush them away again ..
He can’t hide them in the flat either.
He should tell his mum , she has a basement .. but she’ll confront Ravi I guess ! what a mess his in.

Giantjoelguesser · 16/07/2025 11:29

I'm confused about the whole fighting to buy the Vic storyline. They've already released that Kat is the new landlady. Why bother with Brian wanting the Vic, when we know he won't get it. They are bringing in an anonymous party aswell, that would only be interesting if we were guessing who the person was and who would be the winner

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 11:42

I don’t care who wins the Vic bidding war. I am concerned where Linda and co will live though ! ..
Re Oscar, at least Lauren was worried that he is too busy on the play station and becoming bored and hasn’t any money.
I can imagine it’s a problem many face with teens who are not in work or further education and maybe didn’t do enough at school to get an apprenticeship easily either ( if you can find one) and many places you need to work up the levels for certain jobs and have basic GCSES grades at least. It’s good she has realized that he could turn to crime again if he isn’t helped out with finding some work.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2025 11:47

Many don’t read or are aware of any spoilers , so they won’t know that Kat is the new landlady in waiting ! you’d be surprised who manages to avoid them , when I think it’s quite hard not to see something on line or in a tv guide or the newspaper around upcoming stories, but then I don’t mind spoilers.
I guess it’s nice to be surprised though.

Considering that Sharon tried to poison Ian in that pub I’m surprised he’d want it. As Kathy said it didn’t go well last time! Lol

Butterpaneer · 16/07/2025 12:07

I wonder if they're going down a cukooing line with kojo

I like Oscar, I quite like his over acting too

Giantjoelguesser · 16/07/2025 12:34

Yes I got cuckoo vibes from Ravi. That would be such a horrible story.
Ravi ultimately was an idiot leaving the car at the arches and Kojo was ridiculous flushing the drugs. Harry is covering for Kojo! I don't know why he doesn't just tell Nicola and Teddy, they'd have it sorted instantly, especially as it was Nicola who gave Ravi the number! George would have connections through his boxing and could also easily sort it for Kojo.
I feel Kojo knew what he was doing was wrong, otherwise he would have told George.
