Poor Craig met his maker after Mick hurt him bad
He was a bit boring, but I can't help but feel sad
Mick's wife Lou left him, can't blame her quite frankly
He's abusive and repugnant inside and out, and quite manky

Mick wants to see Kit as he knows he slept with Lou
He's got Bernie now, but what is he going to to do?
Mick's nasty little son is out of the STC
Will he be as bad as Mick, I guess we'll have to wait and see

Debbie's quite ill, she's dumped Ronnie and he's very sad
Kevin's still battling cancer, and he's getting quite bad
Glenda's the new landady of the pub now, and Jenny and Daisy are gone
And Julie has died very suddenly, I hoped she'd go on and on.

(I'm sure there's some more things going on right now, but I've only just woken up after a rough night's sleep.) 😆

Corrie hasn't been on for nearly a week now, and I feel weird about saying this (as a Corrie fan since the mid 1970s,) but I haven't missed it. I miss Classic Corrie more if that's not on for a day or two. I only realised I haven't seen it since last Wedneday, and I don't care.

I haven't missed it, and I don't care about any of the storylines or characters. Abi and Kev's brother are turning my stomach, and I don't care about any of the 'naughty' teenagers, or any of the new and young cast members (Lauren, Betsy, Dylan, Summer, and Kit's long lost 'son' ...) I'm not even that bothered about Asha or Nina really...

Sarah who is always overdressed and simpers over every man and drinks wine on the hour every hour just irritates me now. And the dreadful Lou and her perma crumpled and angsty face pisses me off, and right now I don't even care about Garreh. The very few OK cast members (Sally, Tim, Glenda, and George, and maybe a couple of others) are barely keeping it watchable now

It's lost something for me, and I'm not sure it will ever get it back. I will stick with Corrie for a bit, but this may be the beginning of the end for me with Corrie. It's just not improving, and the fact I haven't missed it speaks volumes.....

Sad. Sad

I disagree, I have missed it. I think it's improved recently.. I've seen evidence of the old Corrie in many episodes . At one stage it seemed like a completely different show. Not so much lately.
I like Glenda running the Rovers.
We have seen less of DS Swain in her official capacity.
I like Steve and Cassie as a couple.
I like Tim and Sally's scenes immensely.
Leanne and Tracey are good as the bitter twins.
Ed is a decent character as the doting and loyal father/grandfather.
Bernie is great and we have seen less of Gemma, Chesney and kids. They need axing.
Debbie is fabulous, as is Ronnie and their relationship.
I like Kit and Sarah together.
I would happily see Bill and Summer be axed too alongside Mick and his wife.
Tim and Sal can foster the girls and Brody can reluctantly move in with Kit.
There are promising storyline coming up. Not sure if they have a different team of writers or if the Producers have been reading these threads!

TheodoraCrumpet · 09/07/2025 14:54

Interesting. It's been a bit hectic on the domestic front so I probably wouldn't have had the chance to watch it anyway, but that summary of current plotlines doesn't leave you panting for more, does it?

TheodoraCrumpet · 09/07/2025 14:57

X- posted. Your summary is far more compelling, @Thequeenofwishfulthinking . I hope it's not just your username talking.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 09/07/2025 15:30

It’s a shame if Abi leaves Kev as she has such a good relationship with Debbie.

zanahoria · 09/07/2025 16:00

I like most of the cast, my main problem is the absurd villains that keep showing up and terrorizing the street. Some of them have been half decent as villains like Pat or Ray, some had comic elements like Uncle Stephen but we have also had the likes of Damon, the completely implausible gangster or Mick a man with no redeeming features whatsoever.

Optimist1 · 09/07/2025 17:22

The concept of a soap is that its broadcast several times a week, isn't it? The momentum carries the storylines (good and bad) on at a fairly brisk pace. My feelings about the scheduling of transmissions during these sport-heavy weeks match those of @SabreIsMyFave , doubly so because EastEnders has had huge gaps between transmissions, too.

zanahoria · 09/07/2025 17:46

I can only assume that, even in this iplayer age, being on the main channel at the right time effects ratings.

HurdyGurdy19 · 09/07/2025 17:51

I caught a spoiler on Facebook earlier today 😡and it looks like the stupid storylines aren't going away any time soon.

I'm mainly watching for the Debbie storyline at the moment, and still desperately hoping that they are going to discover she's been misdiagnosed and will be with us for a long time to come. I think she's the best character and best actor on the programme at the moment.

finfitrulesok · 09/07/2025 23:17

Debbie and Ronnie great
DeeDee good
Sally and Tim always good
Love Aadi
And Asha
And Bernie, Roy, Carla

Classic Corrie always looks like pantomime to me.

GrandTheftWalrus · 10/07/2025 02:02

There is a big spoiler just on itv right now. Not on stv

SabreIsMyFave · 10/07/2025 11:30

Glad it's not just me who feels like this about current Corrie (that it's lost its way....) Not everyone agrees, but some do. I know there are about half a dozen or so OK characters/good characters still there, but as several posters have said, it's the stupid storylines, and the constant crime, and tedious villains and bad guys and 'naughty boys' that's getting tedious.

It's like a cross between The Bill, and Hollyoaks now. Watching Classic Corrie highlights how bad it is now. I am hoping it gets better sometime in the next 6-8 months, because quite honestly, I'm getting a bit fed up of it, and am close to bailing. And it makes me sad because Corrie is like an old family member to me... I have been watching it for FIFTY YEARS! It's not been the Corrie I know and love for a few years now. Sad

The few good characters left, and the few reasonable storylines, are sadly outweighed by the crap, and boring storylines/characters. I am SICK of storylines that revolve around teenagers and children, and sick of all the bloody CRIME! Confused I am not too keen on a few characters that several posters seem to like. I don't like Cassie, and I am not keen on DeeDee. Love Debbie, but she's leaving! I like Roy but he's not in it much. And I used to like Mary, but she's just daft and annoying now IMO. I do like George and Glenda.

As I said, the fact I didn't even miss it - or care that it hasn't been on for a week - speaks volumes. 😕That has never happened to me before when Corrie has been cancelled for say, 3 days, because of the sport. I have always been ready for it and excited to watch it, and disappointed that it's not on that night. Not now.

Really hoping it picks up. I'll stick with it for now, but if it hasn't picked up by Spring next year, I'm not sure I will be sticking with it.

I really think that Corrie has no idea who they are writing for. Goodness knows who they think the target audience is but I very much doubt teenagers or young adults watch Corrie. A soap audience has to feel some empathy or emotional involvement to continue watching and I for one no longer feel that.
I suspect a large amount of previously loyal watches probably feel the same.

MonickerMonica · 10/07/2025 14:49

@Lorrymum I agree. If I miss it or it's not on for a week 🙄 I'm not in the least bothered.

InALonelyWorld · 10/07/2025 15:12

I agree, it feels more like a hollyoaks has invaded the street recently! If I'm honest, I'm just dipping in and out of it nowadays. The delay to watch isnt really bothering me but I do know others are finding the lack of tv choice annoying when sport season is on.

Same

JewelleryCat · 10/07/2025 16:32

I must say, I do find it annoying when sport is on and the soaps get moved. We have other ITV channels, put the soaps on there if you want football on ITV1

Yeah, this too. ^ I was saying this to my DH, and several people I know a few days ago. No-one I know under 35 watches Corrie. (My 2 adult DC don't - they are nearly 30,) and none of their friends do. My friends' teens, and younger children don't watch it, and the older fans (45+) who have watched it since the 1980s or 1990s (or earlier,) have got tired of the youth-based, and crime storylines (as I and some other posters have,) and have stopped watching.

People of all ages are leaving in droves, after being dismayed and fed up of the Hollyoaks type storylines. My DH (late 50s,) stopped watching it about a year ago, and my 2 aunts in their 80s who have watched it since it began stopped watching it a couple of years ago... Most of my social circle (aged 45 to 65,) don't watch it now. And it's because it's not what it was.

And yeah, who is the target audience now? No wonder the viewing figures have dropped so dramatically............ Less than 4 million people watch it now... Compared to an average audience of 14-15 million some 25-30+ years ago. And THAT is when the country's population was 25% less than it is now...

They seem to make youth based stories that do not appeal to the youth.

All the girls get sexually assaulted or impregnated and the lads get killed or sent to the STC.

Middlemarch123 · 10/07/2025 19:28

I watch it because I always have, if that makes sense.
Classic Corrie is so much better.
I often kick myself for watching it now, but every now and then it hits the mark. There’s so much potential for it to be good again currently, so I will hang on in.

nildesparandum · 10/07/2025 20:52

Corrie is dire now not a ghost of what it used to be.I cannot stand most of the characters they are so unbelievable. The acting leaves a lot to be desired.

JellyBeanSpring25 · 10/07/2025 21:04

If you’re still onboard, it’s on tonight (Thursday 10 July)at 9pm and tomorrow 8pm.
