Belgravia the next chapter is on ITVX, I haven't watched it yet.

The GOAT: Upstairs, Downstairs

I don't think there's been anything on TV that rivals Downton (in that sort of category) since it aired.

I think it was and stands still as one of the best ever TV productions.

People say Bridgerton is good and it's fun but I don't think it holds a candle.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 24/04/2025 20:08

I'm currently re watching Victoria on Netflix...

Teado · 24/04/2025 20:10

The Leopard on Netflix if you don’t mind subtitles.

Upstairs Downstairs is incredible. A brilliant show.

Couldn’t agree more.

The GOAT: Upstairs, Downstairs

I came to say this. Nothing else comes close, imo. Must be the original, with Gordon Jackson etc.

Was the first popular series drama to tackle the First World War.

Also When the Boat Comes In, set between the wars. Working class NE. James Bolam.

LushLemonTart · 24/04/2025 20:41

Oh I agree about Downton. Dh and me have watched the whole thing twice.

I enjoyed Poldark as much. And most of the other recommendations. Victoria and Empress were great.

Bleak House and the 1995 Pride & Prejudice might be worth a look too.

The Empress if you’re ok with subtitles.

Love this, it’s one of my faves.

unlikelywitch · 24/04/2025 20:57

Gran Hotel/Grand Hotel is a fabulous Spanish period drama set in the 1910s, if you don’t mind subtitles.

Medici on Netflix is a different vibe from Downton but definitely worth watching.

Dillshair · 24/04/2025 21:00

Indian Summers on Prime.

Gundogday · 24/04/2025 21:03

Brigerton - a sexy version of Downton

Monarch of the Glen (old series)

House of Eve ( another old series)

Sherararara · 24/04/2025 21:16

Reacher

BlindTipsy · 24/04/2025 21:18

Will definitely be giving some of these a go.

Mr Selfridge is my contribution.

FiveFoxes · 24/04/2025 21:25

Badehotellet if you're ok with subtitles!

Ilovemyshed · 24/04/2025 21:26

The 2002 version of the Forsyte saga with Gina McKee, Damian Lewis and Rupert Graves was brilliant.

mrschocolatte · 24/04/2025 21:34

If you don’t mind subtitles, The Cook of Castamar on Netflix was a great series.

Mydadsbirthday · 24/04/2025 21:53

Probably get flamed for this but Reign. I loved it! Totallly ridicuous but so watchable.
