New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

Who are the brother and sister?

There is no brother and sister. There are 2 brothers and 2 sisters, separate couples.

I enjoyed that. Did anyone else think it was a bit weird though when the brother and sister arrived at the first checkpoint, and when saying well done, he gave her a kiss on the lips?

They're boyfriend and girlfriend i thought.

I think you mean the young couple - who are a couple, not brother and sister (they do look a bit similar, to be fair).

Samcro · 24/04/2025 16:19

I enjoyed it. found the mum and son a bit irritating though.
ike the 2 sisters best at the moment, but its very early days.

I was laughing my head off at the brothers in that awful room, and the key in the door….

That was so funny. The "toilet" was so disgusting, and the key in the door was just the icing on the cake.

The Welsh ones? They aren't brother and sister.

They are teenagers in love in a quiet Welsh village and so sweet. Fin has type 1 diabetes and Sioned has already said she's fed up with making all the decisions. But they obviously adore each other.

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/04/2025 17:14

The Welsh couple did so well considering they are so young and seem to have hardly been out of Wales. Contrasting with Posh boy who had been 'travelling' and seemed super confident

Ah good point. It was the way she said it made it sound like she was from a mandarin speaking family but just hadn’t learned any. With family who were first generation I wouldn’t expect English to be spoken at home.

Im first generation and my dad insisted on English being spoken at home. So we would integrate.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 24/04/2025 17:26

I did like the brothers having a giggling fit at their room.

I like yin and gaz the best so far. And the sisters. They’re all likeable to be fair. Love ratw. Makes me want to travel again.

placemats · 24/04/2025 17:26

Welsh young couple are Fin and Sioned 20/19.

Brothers are Brian and Melvyn in their 60s

Ex couple but good friends are Yin and Gaz in 50s

Mother and son are Caroline and Tom 60 and 21

Sisters Letitia and Elizabeth, 26 and 33

Just posting to remember 😄

placemats · 24/04/2025 17:38

I have no idea how they're all going to cope with such a meagre daily income.

They'll need to do a lot of work and free stay efforts.

Dressinggown08 · 24/04/2025 17:40

I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm mindful that the mum may very well be a Mumsnetter and there have been a few negative comments about her already- please be gentle!

placemats · 24/04/2025 17:42

I think Patsy Palmer is beautiful and I very much meant it as a compliment.

dimsiaradcymraeg · 24/04/2025 17:43

Oh I love the mum and son combo - both very emotionally intelligent and supportive of each other. I think they will do well after initial wobble.

I also adore the brothers - the key was hilarious 😆

Femalefootyfan · 24/04/2025 17:58

We hadn’t watched any of the regular shows of this, just the Celeb versions so watching regular people one for the first time and so far, loving it. I’m a bit in awe of all of them, what a fabulous opportunity they’ve got to take on such a challenge, I like all of them but as a 60 year old, I really admire the older people who are taking part.

We also lived in Beijing for a while about a decade ago and I picked up a few words of Mandarin but not as much as Letitia, she did really well particularly on the bus. Its a very hard k gauge to learn as it so tonal, I wonder how long ago she lived there to have retained so much.

Yes so do I! I didn't mean your message, just that a few people have said they find her annoying.

@Femalefootyfan

Mandarin is a popular language taught in many countries in Africa, which the sisters have travelled to. Kenya has introduced it onto the national curriculum. Makes sense given trade connections between China, provinces within and various African countries.

But if she grew up learning Cantonese (spoken and written) she should be able to understand the majority of spoken mandarin and the writing. DH native language is Cantonese but he understand and can read both.

NCTDN · 24/04/2025 18:22

Haha that kiss makes a lot more sense now !! I wondered why no one else had mentioned it BlushBlush
i need to pay more attention when watching

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/04/2025 18:25

Letitia said she only lived for 6 months in china, i think, so it really helped her, agree about the happy family with the pomegranetes.

I don't think it's that strange she can't speak Mandarin or Cantonese. My dad was a second generation immigrant growing up in the 50s, they were the only non white, non British family on their road and in their school. Survival was based on integration and his parents didn't speak their native language in the home.

Ah, thanks, I didn’t realise that
