Was anyone else aware that the new Dr Who series was starting tonight??

😮..I have come across it by accident.

Last year it was was well advertised.
The TARDIS flying on the BBC screen at every opportunity and so.

I do record a lot of my programmes so maybe I missed it ?

But I didn't last year 🤔.

And I really thought they said it was going to be May for the new series ?

Have I been on another planet ? 😂😂😂 !!

I have now watched today’s, no spoilers until after the scheduled time, but I thought it was a good one.

I don’t think I have sufficient words for this one.

It was a giant step for Dr Who. An imperfect step - but monumental.

Have just watched it. Not quite sure what I think.

But the next episode looks awesome 😎

She was in Belinda’s story.

I loved it - I do like the lots of people trapped in a small space talking episodes though - I’m loving this Doctor more and more

Can someone please explain to me in very simple terms what the hell the plot of last night's episode was? It went completely over my head. A visually beautiful episode but WTF was going on, not a clue.

It’s a continuation of the Pantheon of the Gods theme that has been in place since the bigeneration (Lux, Sutekh, The Toymaker, Jinkx) The long-haired barber pulled together stories to feed the gods and built some tech to help, but they took the tech and discarded him, so he built the big spider powered by stories to go and chase the gods down for revenge. Along the way, he collected Abby, daughter of a spider god. The Doctor stopped the story collector from his revenge and left him in Nigeria to find a new path.

I was looking for a thread after the Ruby Sunday episode but missed you! I’m enjoying this series but I do miss the big story arcs from Tennant and Smith’s days. I know we have Mrs Flood but I’m not sure she counts. She’s more of a mystery.

I think I’m starting to connect with this doctor better. It usually takes me a series or so and so I’m right on track. I need to rewatch the other episodes now with my “this is the Doctor” head on 🤣

Did anyone else read the (unsurprisingly charming) prequel story Inua Ellams wrote? As some reviewers have noted, it’s a real shame we couldn’t have had a little more of the back story shown on screen, to ground the Doctor’s long friendship with someone we’ve never seen before.

Same here. Doctor Who these days does nothing for me either. The series with Jodie Whittaker was the last one I will ever watch. (I mean, I will watch old episodes, but the new ones can get in the bin frankly...) I watched the ones last winter (3 I think tt was,) that had David Tennant in - who morphed into the new doctor (well, split in two,) and that was it for me. It was rubbish. CBA with it anymore. R.I.P. Doctor Who. ✝ 😢

As a pp said, the last time it was good was when Matt Smith was in it. Even the Jodie Whittaker ones weren't great, and neither were the PeterCapaldi ones.

I’ve tried to watch it, I’ve tried to like it but it’s awful, not the actors but the storylines, take it back to the Christopher Ecclestone , early David Tennant type stories or just put it out of its misery

I would really like to have got more of a feel of Belinda. She doesn’t seem to have much of a story (unlike Ruby’s mystery mother arc)
