"After the party" it was called

I loved that series! I should have remembered the bogan term from that!

ExtraPaddingForFallingOver · 11/04/2025 14:37

I think someone needs to have a kind chat with Jaimie, obviously when she’s calm otherwise she’ll go off like a rocket.

One of my son’s, who is now an adult, struggles with debate or someone not fully agreeing with his opinion. He feels like everything is an attack.
We have lots of chats about differences of opinion being a vital part of society and that’s how we grow. He’s slowly getting there.

I see so many older adults who haven’t learned the skill of receiving more than transmitting and then end up alienating people. I think Jaimie, who has some good intentions is very much at risk of becoming one of these. Hopefully she’ll rewatch some of the episodes and reevaluate a bit.

I genuinely think she’s one of the decent ones. Lauren on the other hand is a spiteful, horrid woman, not sure there’s enough help out there for that

buffyajp · 11/04/2025 14:39

cramptramp · 11/04/2025 12:18

I’m a chatty and fierce person too, but I don’t need to shout to be heard. I could understand her feeling hurt but her reaction did her no favours. As evidenced by last nights episode.

Disagree completely. I don’t understand the sudden dislike for her here. Rhi is a coward and should have apologised long before. The only mean girl there was Lauren. No surprise though that all of a sudden the person who has been the victim of abusive language in the first place is all of a sudden the bully. She had every right to defend herself when her so called friends turned their backs on her.

murasaki · 11/04/2025 14:44

Team Jamie. Her delivery was too much, but her content was correct and I can see how she got to that place.

Lauren's content and delivery were awful, and then she didn't even turn up and gleefully rubbed her hands at the bonfire she'd started.

I think Rhi was genuine, but also battered into apologising due to the Carina conversation. But I do think she was sorry. At least she said 'I'm sorry I made you feel like that ' rather than the non apology which is ' I'm sorry you feel like that'.

Carina can't stand up to Paul so for some reason is taking her general unhappiness out on Jamie.

dapsnotplimsolls · 11/04/2025 14:45

That's a good point about Carina.

Yes agree with all of this.

I still like Jamie a lot. And I’m sure she will learn from it.

I had a ferocious temper and used to lose it completely. It took distance for me to see my reaction was out of proportion and there’s always a better way. I was quick to calm down too as soon as I got an apology. It was weird for me to watch thinking about it.

Yes I think you’re right about Carina, even her saying to the producers something like ‘I’m not smart enough’
I think she’s out of her depth and has a lot of maturing to do, it’s not all about being pretty and wearing hoods

Italiangreyhound · 11/04/2025 14:52

"...called me a troll then I guess I would be pretty vocal back. I mean it didn’t come from nowhere?"

Lauren's behaviour was appalling. And had those rude words been calmly challenged it would have been far more effective.

She should be challenged. But...Jamie turned it into a massive deal, alienated two of her 'best friends' and generally showed herself to be unpleasant. How is that ok? Two wrongs do not make a right.

Italiangreyhound · 11/04/2025 14:55

ExtraPaddingForFallingOver I also thought Jamie was a good one. Now I see her as toxic. If you are not 100 percent in agreement she doesn't want to know you. She has no control over her anher she is 20 something not 12.

I don't especially like Carina but she was right not to apologise.

Italiangreyhound · 11/04/2025 14:56

buffyajp

What do you think Rhi needed to apologise for?

murasaki · 11/04/2025 14:57

I think Jamie was very disappointed and very drunk. It wasn't handled well at all, but she was right re supporting the others and getting sweet FA back. She's a nicer person than Lauren, she just needs to find her volume switch and tone it down. I'd have been upset. My default reaction to that is to shut down, hers isn't.

Italiangreyhound · 11/04/2025 14:58

"still like Jamie a lot. And I’m sure she will learn from it."

How will she learn? She is not listening to any body else. Only her own voice telling herself and everyone else she is the wronged victim.

Lauren insulted everyone but most people had enough sense to ignore it!

Yes, I’m a bit of a shut down person now too. So is Rhi it seems and I felt so sad for her being so beaten down in front of everyone.

Completely agree.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/04/2025 15:03

Because everyone learns from their actions. I mean it took me awhile but I got it eventually.

Catlord · 11/04/2025 15:05

I haven't been commenting on this series but have just had a look at some comments and online elsewhere.

I feel like I'm seeing a really different point to the majority, which is that Lauren is spiky and rude, yes, but bottom line was deeply uncomfortable on this occasion, and was honest that she didn't want to be there and didn't want to discuss her relationship.

Awhina and Jaime plus Beth kept pushing 'for answers' and 'to help'.

I just don't see why they were entitled to a response then be offended when they don't like being told to MYOB.

It's pretty clear that Lauren is new with Clint, doesn't fancy him (the washing up point was ridiculous but his fake tanned and botoxed look isnt making the best of himself) and she was in two minds about going back after Elliot anyway. So I'm not sure what they needed to hear from her. Carina and Rhi were, to me, in the right for trying to cool things down.

I think Jacqui was being manipulative, spotting a way in with a vulnerable feeling Jaime after making herself foolish many times previously.

I think Teejay seemed put off by Beth enjoying Lauren's discomfort even if
Lauren does respond by lashing out. This may be something learnt in childhood, her sister's behaviour was similar.

It was fine for Clint to defend her. She didn't need to answer to the others. Dave was far too aggressive, standing up.

Veronica was also awful to Ryan. He'd an oddball but that was nasty.

I wonder if the mixed reaction on social media will have an influence. There is a lot of love and for her but definitely a sense of recoil and ‘whoa too far!’
She is generally on the mark, but is like a dog with a bone

I agree it should have been calmly challenged. If you look back though that is what Jamie was doing initially. She looked shocked and called Lauren rude. That was it. It was when Rhi and Carina (unnecessarily) ran after Lauren than Jamie became more upset/angry. The the troll incident.

Why did they need to follow her? Lauren wasn’t the remotest bit upset.. She said she was bored of them all and was leaving. If someone said they were bored of me and leaving I would not go after them. And then they were all giggling together. Awful behaviour.

Agree, in my twenties i was a lot more combative, especially after all the drinks she must have had during the long day of filming. Now I just clamp down. Remove myself. And fester a bit, which also isn't great, but then I can think it through. She'll get there.

Delatron · 11/04/2025 15:07

I’m actually now wondering if the producers told them to go after her. As it was such a strange thing to do after someone has dissed the whole group and swanned off. I have seen no previous evidence of Rhi and Carina being friends with Lauren

I wouldn’t ignore it if someone insulted me and all my friends! That’s just excusing awful behaviour. So it’s ok to go around continuously calling people chavs and trolls and they all have to sit there and take it….

I honestly think Carina may have simply had a different view. Not that Lauren was perfectly behaved, but that Jaime and co didn't have the right to push her for a response when she was uncomfortable and clearly didn't want to talk about her relationship. I think Carina was standing by that view and saw 'bogan' etc as quite impersonal. 'your opinion means nothing to me' I think meant just that, I don't want to discuss this anymore rather than anything really hurtful from Lauren.

murasaki · 11/04/2025 15:16

I would take someone calling me a bogan to my face personally. The troll comment was behind her back but even more personal as it only referred to her not the others.

I sort of agree with your comment re their opinions not meaning anything to her, but I thought part of the ixperiment was to talk about relationships within the group so Lauren's not playing the game she signed up to.

No it definitely shouldn’t be ignored, I think as you get older you learn ways of cutting it dead, showing your contempt for such awful behaviour. But it get’s left there because you don’t want to absorb the angst and extra cortisol, or stoop to their level.
