Sorry but I absolutely hate ‘special’ episodes of Eastenders.
They’re always really cringy.

I mostly agree but I chose to view a lot of it through the prism of Nigel's dementia and his elastic view of time, and it kind of worked that way.

The end was a bit naff though. But if they hadn't done it the BBC would have been chastised, can't win...

and obv why they rushed the Vic being repaired as would have taken months and instead was less then 8w

The bbc has done plenty for VE Day, but maybe it was a celebration of having the pub back as well. It was random in places, but that’s EE atm.
The old footage they showed was good though.
