Julie Goodyear photo - Bet Lynch

The husband has released a photo of Julie Goodyear - I feel this was best kept private, and to remember her how she was a glamorous blonde fierce bombshell, and not looking a shell of her former self. She has dementia so thankfully won't be aware of the published image (which I won't post here)

Are you always this stupid?

What a lazy comment

Weepixie · 02/04/2025 18:35

I was so upset when I saw the picture. Just why would he do that to her? It’s awful.

Bet Lynch, Rita Fairclough, Elsie Tanner. ❤️

OK I have re-read the comments. It's because she's not got all of her bottom teeth and she's not wearing outrageous earrings and leopard print.

Only your post mentioned leopard print - others have been more sensible

I'd be horrified if I'd lost my bottom teeth and someone put a photo on SM of me without them. Julie was always glamorous and I can't believe she'd have ever, prior to dementia, consented to publishing such a photo. I think it's cruel and humiliating.

I agree.

Ilostmyhalo · 02/04/2025 18:37

wishes there was a mute button for some posters who do not contribute !!!

At least I don't twist the comments that have been made to suit my own agenda.🙄
I think you are here to be deliberately provocative....Bye.

Actually the leopard print wording was taken directly from a previous poster said she'd prfer to remember her in outrageous earrings and leopard print.

It's no wonder women feel pressured to get botox and surgery, people clearly have issues with naturally aged women, especially if they're not dolled up in suitable (uncomfortable) atire.

As for the poster suggesting 'a jolly scarf'....

100% this

SplendidUtterly · 02/04/2025 18:39

Possibly for money?

Maybe you think she should've been made to wear a full face of make-up too? Perhaps she should've been made to wear a slightly revealing leopard print dress? Or maybe you'd prefer her to hide herself away so that you don't have to accept the ageing process.

She shouldn't have been made to do anything. She has dementia, so reduced capacity to consent, and the people caring for her should be preserving her privacy and dignity.

I'm well aware of the ageing process as I'm 71 and the main carer for my 95 yr old mother, who also accepts the ageing process but wouldn't be seen dead in public without her hair done and her teeth in.

It’s nothing to do with bloody leopard print or earrings.

GoodVibesHere · 02/04/2025 18:43

Seems I'm being pushed off the thread...

In that case l'll leave this thread so it can be an echo chamber of people commenting on how awful she looks.

Rest assured that if I'm lucky enough to make it to 83 I hope to be as happy and comfortable as she looks in that photo and I won't mind who sees me Smile

Without wishing to sound rude - you need to get over yourself.

It’s a thread about Julie. Not you.

And the consent to the photo being published.

Dutchhouse14 · 02/04/2025 18:50

I've just googled it but you know what, she's smiling, looking straight at the camera and looks happy and tbh it's the reality of aging/ she looks far more typical of someone in their 80s than say Joan Collins or a Hollywood actress that's had a ton of plastic surgery.
I think the honesty is refreshing.
My mum has dementia and brushing her hair, getting her dressed, cleaning her teeth is a daily battle. I can't imagine (or rather I can!! ) trying to put make on her, washing and styling her hair and getting her into any clothing that wasnt pull on. She would need to be anaesthetised for any dental work so it's just not worth the risk and distress. Why shouldn't we see photos of older people with dementia? Sounds like she had a wonderful birthday and looks happy and really all that matters - so happy birthday to Julie!

glitterturd · 02/04/2025 18:51

Bless her - she was a great character !

Ilostmyhalo · 02/04/2025 18:52

When Barbara Windsor had the same condition we did not see photo's of her demise, her husband always looked out for her until the end.

Pallisers · 02/04/2025 18:56

Why shouldn't we see photos of older people with dementia?

Why should you? You don't know that woman, you aren't a friend or a family member. What possible interest could you have in seeing a photo of a stranger with dementia? She can't consent to her photo being published and yet you feel entitled to see it.

QueefQueen80s · 02/04/2025 18:57

Gosh it doesn’t look like her at all, that’s not normal aging. It looks like she’s been through the mill with illness. Poor woman. I doubt she would want that shared

NovemberMorn · 02/04/2025 18:59

Julie Goodyear stepped out of the public eye six years ago, obviously she wanted her privacy.
Her husband and 'pals', have posted private pics of her since then, God knows why.
It seems to me her privacy has not been respected, and everyone should be entitled to privacy, famous or not.

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 02/04/2025 19:08

Nevertrustacop · 02/04/2025 18:21

It's a great photo, she looks lovely and happy. I doubt she gives a monkeys about her appearance these days, so why should we?

I agree. Everyone is so obsessed with looks, it never ends and it's so depressing. She seems happy and that's the main thing, surely.

SwanOfThoseThings · 02/04/2025 19:12

She's 83 - what would you expect an 83 year old to look like? It's no surprise she doesn't look as she did 40 years ago in her Bet Lynch days. I hope she was able to find enjoyment in her birthday.

HobNobAddict · 02/04/2025 19:12

I have just skimmed through the thread - I feel really sad to see such a glamorous woman who has this horrible illness - I feel that the fact she cannot consent to the photo is the crux. I know my 83 year old gran, would hate to have a photo akin to this one posted everywhere.

HobNobAddict · 02/04/2025 19:23

this was Barbara Windsors last photo - who also had dementia - edit sorry photo would not upload
