This City Is Ours stars Sean Bean, Julie Graham and Jack McMullen and follows the big troubles of a Liverpool crime family.

the eight-part series follows Michael, a drug-trafficker who reconsiders his life after falling in love.

Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) plays Michael's boss, gang leader Ronnie Phelan, who begins eyeing retirement just as a rival organisation prepares to attack.

Michael (James Nelson-Joyce) dreams of following his boss and leaving his life of crime behind, but faces opposition from Ronnie's ruthless son Jamie (Jack McMullen), who doesn't want to share his father's criminal empire.

This City is Ours is the story of Michael, a man who for all of his adult life has been involved in organised crime... but for the first time in his life, Michael is in love. For the first time in his life, he sees beyond the day-to-day, he sees a future: something to win and something to lose — Diana. "The eight-part series tells the story of Michael and Diana's love affair, set against the disintegration of Michael’s crime gang.

For years, together with his friend Ronnie, Michael has successfully been bringing cocaine into the City and beyond, directly from Columbia; but when a shipment goes missing, then he knows their Kingdom is under attack.

"The drama explores what happens when Ronnie’s son Jamie decides he wants to inherit their kingdom and that there is no longer a place for Michael at the table.

Both Michael and Jamie have bold ideas to modernise the gang and they will battle for control of it.

But Michael’s biggest battle will be to save the woman he loves and the child he has always wanted.

"This is a story about family and love destroyed and corrupted by ambition, pride and greed. It’s a story about power: what we will do to secure and keep it."

James Nelson-Joyce (The Family Pile) will lead the cast as Michael Kavanagh, while Jack McMullen (Hijack) plays his friend and Ronnie's son, Jamie.

Isn’t Bobby’s wife laundering money for them?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/05/2025 21:15

No she basically paid the debt off

She must be. The companies Elaine and Rachel's keep referring to must be fronts.

Possibly the laundrette and garage amongst them. Thoigh maybe not, I mean if a laundrette had a turn over of 1.6 million you'd think it's cause a few eyebrows

Mind you I'd be useless in organised crime. I really don't understand understand how huge amounts of money is laundered without suspicion.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/05/2025 09:14

The launderette is literally washing the money 😂

Actually launderettes are often used in money laundering because they’re cash-intensive businesses; the vast majority of customers will use cash in legitimate transactions so the illegal money from dealing can be mixed in more easily. Same with things like car washes, arcades etc, anything where large deposits of physical cash into a bank account won’t necessarily be suspicious because it’s how genuine customers make purchases.

You sound in the know @SydneyCarton😂

It's not a million miles from my job, but I promise I'm not in an OCG 😂

Tanning salons, nail bars, barbers as well as others that have been mentioned..probably hard for the authorities to keep up with them all.

I was trying to work out if the restaurant that Diana works in is theirs. Nothing much ever seems to happen in it!

FreddoSwaggins · 07/05/2025 21:07

OK that makes sense. I feel more educated now.

Few more lessons and I'll be fit for a life of crime. I wouldn't like the violence thing, so I need to be pacifst gang.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/05/2025 21:11

yes always show tanning salons /nail shops

omg. I pay cash in my nail shop

thk sure they aren’t dodgy

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/05/2025 05:24

no i dont think Diana would be that involved to be working in their restaurant

FreddoSwaggins · 08/05/2025 06:32

I think if Diana's restaurant was theirs we'd have been shown someone in the restaurant greeting Michael like they knew him well.

Possibly they were just budgeting on extras, as i think we've only supposed to have seen the place before it was open/just opened. Only recall one time Diana and Michael were sat at a table drinking in the plac but can't recall if we got to see the rest of the place at that time.

I'm from that area but DH is Welsh so I often have to translate! I love that they've not modified the accent. James Nelson-Joyce is great as Michael but I've only ever seen him play a Scouser. I wonder if he could do a different role?

He's in an episode of the new season of Black Mirror playing a cockney.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/05/2025 08:51

Last one tonight. Can’t wait !!!!

I thought banksy would end up killing Ricardo somehow; at first I thought he’d do it in the restaurant but that seemed a bit too obvious 🤣 If it’s been renewed then I assumed neither Michael or Jamie would die. Banksy will probably get offed by the amigos though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/05/2025 22:43

Awww I hope not. He’s Micheals only friend

so do I take it rachel decided to pay Ricky and not the Amsterdam £75k

Well, you get your wish and there will be a season 2, which is why this ending was so inconclusive. Personally, I'm not sure I can be bothered.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/05/2025 00:48

Oh I loved it. 2mths of pleasure

FreddoSwaggins · 12/05/2025 07:22

Really enjoyed that last episide. Though don't get what Diana told Jamie so readily, that Michael killed Ronnie.

There's no chance of Diana and Michael living in Happy Town now is there! Not now it's know he killed Ronnie.

OCNB Jamie is going to be problematic for the others too. This tester with "The Dam" will lead to things he can't handle. With Rachel finally copping Jamie's a dope, Bobby and he will be two Jamie will vie for top spot for. They having the ability and him think it should just be his by rights.

After that simile from Banksey I dont think he'll play ball with the family. Also he might be occupied by playing cat and mouse with the Amigos now!! (I was surprised no one got out from Richardo's car.)

All I need now is someone to turn up - anyone please - and pronounce "Kavanagh' correctly 😂
