Cassie's walking around with her tail between her legs, as Ken rumbled her nasty little game. Tracey saw through her but few others did, and Cassie's attempts to fool Tracey were lame. Hope still wants to be friends with her nan, but no-one wants Cassie around. She wants some love and friendship and support, but there's really very little to be found.

David wants someone to kill him so his family will be looked after. He wants someone to hit him with a car, these storylines are getting dafter! Kevin's got cancer it appears to be spreading, which is really quite worrying and sad. Rosie and Sophie haven't made an appearance yet, are they not worried about their dad?

Carla had her brother Rob's kidney, he's in jail for murder, under guard, but the guard is his girlfriend, and not be trusted, so escaping from the hospital wasn't hard. Abi's still struggling after seeing Mason killed, but trying to pull herself together. Her portrait of Kevin was a sight to behold, Debbie thought she'd be laughing forever.

Carla and Swain are still loved up, and Eileen's sister Julie's shown her face. She says she's got cancer, how awful if she has it too. Seems it's turning up all over the place. Leanne and Toyah's story has quietened down a bit, and the institution's in the past, Daisy's telling Daniel he's the baby daddy but he's not, I wonder how long the lie will last.

Jenny's about to be kicked off the deeds, at the Rovers against her wishes. Daniel's bailing her and Daisy out, and wants to make Daisy his missus. Max got a chunk of time in jail for setting fire to his house. And Dylan's incarcerated for possessing a knife, but is keeping as quiet as a mouse.

The Baileys have dwindled, and DeeDee where is she? Ronnie's still about, and easy on the eyes is he! I've probably missed something important I expect, and I'm sorry if I've missed something out. It's hard to remember everything and everyone, and make sure you don't miss nowt!

Happy days.

eggandonion · 31/03/2025 23:56

Aggie must have no phone signal. I think the baby needs to stay on the street after all we have been through the past few months.

YesImawitch · 01/04/2025 06:47

Oh dear DD rushed back to theatre with a haemorrhage = hysterectomy?
She looked heartbroken when James took the baby.
She won't want to give her up I'm guessing if it's her only child ?

Jenny said the shares were from an investment that Daisy dad Gregory had taken out for the two of them
If Jenny cashed her share it was 60K
The Johnny stuff was Mick and his dreadful wife bringing round some old post to Jenny thinking J Connor was her.
She chucked it in her junk mail basket and as Glenda was commenting about sorting it out she found the letter.

Is that what the nurse meant when she said giving birth is what women like you are made for (or words to that effect)? They treated her dreadfully, calling her aggressive and emotional when she was ill.

I thought the nurse said "built like you" which I thought was rather rude, being about DeeDee's sturdy build. Now racism has been mentioned, it was interesting that it was the black nurses who were kind and white ones who weren't.

strugglingwithlife · 01/04/2025 08:07

EachandEveryone · 31/03/2025 21:46

Unfortunately a lot of black women are treated like that in maternity services there’s loads of articles about it. Things like midwives ignoring pain as they feel like they are tougher than the rest. It’s diabolical and I think that Corrie was bang on it tonight.

That's awful 😞

strugglingwithlife · 01/04/2025 08:09

HaddyAbrams · 31/03/2025 22:12

Wow that midwife is a Bitch!

I know someone who was brushed off and sent home, 24 hours later she was told her babies had died and she had to deliver them. Fucking awful.

That's absolutely disgusting, that poor woman 😢

Deadringer · 01/04/2025 08:13

I just listened to it again, the nurse said,
'Looks like a very strong woman to me, women like you are built for this.' I suppose that could be taken in a number of ways.

Thinking back on it, Ed responded with "excuse me?!" or something like that implying that he had taken great offence at what was said so that is when I started thinking racism was being highlighted and not just shitty maternity services.

Shellingbynight · 01/04/2025 08:23

It looked like both - shitty services and racism.
But I am not on board for yet another public awareness campaign. We get one a week and they are forgotten the following Monday.

I agree DD is keeping that baby. Bye James and your wooden acting.

They couldn't find a bed in Weathy General, where EVERYONE is seen immediately and tucked up in a private room within the hour?

Then the doctor realises it's an emergency and the baby has got to come out NOW. Speaking in staccato sentences, to emphasise the concern. Then leans on the bed and just looks at DeeDee, rather than going off full pelt to get the theatre ready and get her prepped for a section.

That scene reminded me of Acorn Antiques 😂

zanahoria · 01/04/2025 10:10

It all seemed a bit contrived to me the way that multiple nurses were suddenly treating DeeDee like muck, especially as her mum worked there and some of them would have known her.

I am already a bit bored with hospital scenes with Frankie. Lauren seems to have moved back in there.

Shellingbynight · 01/04/2025 10:16

@zanahoria Corrie really don't do subtle, do they?
I feel sorry for the actress who plays Frankie. All she does is stare at hospital beds.

TellingBone · 01/04/2025 12:37

These were two issues which would have been better highlighted separately I think - the treatment of pregnant black women by HCPs and the unrelated pressure on NHS staff. Combining the two sort of gives the impression that the former is caused by the latter.

Having said all that - soaps have become too issue-led these days. When it's constant the effect is diluted.

And the effect is lessened when they are mixed up with other absurd plots that can be remarkably similar. Abi procured a gun that caused a death but a year later she is lecturing about kids carrying knives.

It feels like a klaxon goes off, it is is an issues plot and everyone has to put a serious face on. I am not looking forward to the inevitable sermon on the issue.

This episode is very upsetting for me, I had premature twins after eclampsia, and spent three days in ITU, and it was touch and go. The consultant said it was a miracle that all three of us survived. It was down to the amazing staff and the NICU, I thank god for their care every single day. And one of those beautiful twins is now an ICU doctor at the same hospital, making miracles happen.

I purposely did not watch this.Fifty five years ago I nearly died in childbirth due to the hospitals negligence but then I did not realise it.My son was brought out near dead and now has a problem which could have been caused by his horrible birth
I avoid watching anything childbirth related because it brings it all back.I still have a fear of general anaesthesia and operating theatres.

Sorry to hear that. I nearly died when I had my first

Why does Daisy think she’s entitled to the money?

Do you mean Lauren? Frankie is her baby. Smile

Shocked at how badly DeeDee was treated. Never happened when I was in hospital having mine, but I do remember not being listened to sometimes. I was in labour for a LONG time (more than a day and a half,) and was finally shifted to theatre for a c-section when they realised the baby was in distress as she was stuck! I begged for an epidural and was refused multiple times. I was in AGONY. I also asked for a c-section, as I appeared to be dilated to 4 cm only and was not going any further! 38 hours it was before they allowed me to have a c-section. It's a miracle my DD was fine. (And me.)

The one nurse calling DeeDee aggressive though?! And trying to bully her into breastfeeding, and saying (sarcastically) 'I hope your family have brought FORMULA!' Then not believing her when she said she felt ill. Awful!

Then the other midwife saying 'this is what women built like you are meant for!' WTAF? AND other HCPs acting vague and uninterested!!! The NHS are not going to like this impression of them at all. 😱

Mm.. she didn't have to bring Jenny in on the 'stolen money to buy the pub' plan.. but did.

Also the money was part of an investment her father made, depending on his will, if there was one of course, it might be that some of that money should be hers!

But mostly her fear is (correctly!) that Jenny is going to somehow use it to buy the pub out from under her - just as she was going to do to Jenny with Daniels money.

It was the white nurses treating DeeDee badly, the black nurses were kind. Corrie has as much nuance as a sledgehammer.

Shellingbynight · 02/04/2025 09:03

@WiddlinDiddlin I'm not sure what Daisy's thought process is re the money, I assumed she thought Jenny was NOT going to use it for the pub. Because if she thinks Jenny will buy the pub, it's to Daisy's benefit. Daisy hasn't got the money herself and Jenny would almost certainly keep her on (well she would if Daisy wasn't behaving so badly).

It is such an annoying storyline for so many reasons. It will either be sorted out now with Jenny's magic money tree or someonelse will buy it.

Izzy24 · 02/04/2025 09:17

Freysimo · 02/04/2025 08:00

True.

However it needs a sledgehammer to highlight concerns sometimes.

There is huge inequality across maternity services which result in significantly poorer outcomes for black women across all demographics and this needs to be addressed urgently.

So even if it’s a five minute wonder on Corrie at least it’s raising awareness of a significant problem.

MonickerMonica · 02/04/2025 10:14

I would like to see a new owner/manager taking over the Rovers! Jenny and Daisy should go! It needs a married couple - husband and wife. New characters we've never seen before. There must be hundreds of decent actors out there to choose from. 🍺

strugglingwithlife · 02/04/2025 10:36

I would have loved them to have Debbie buy the Rovers, she would have been a great landlady
