To be fair , if Stacey had just got out of there quickly and not stopped for a ' heart to heart' etc etc maybe Martin would have lived !

I also agree @Annaannaannab I lost some sympathy for Ruby in tonight’s episode. As annoying as Stacey’s behaviour was, she will always be paying for her actions through her grief and guilt. But Ruby’s insecurities are making her behave selfishly and cruelly to the other bereaved. I also thought before Martin died that Stacey and Ruby treated him like a possession - it seemed to me like Ruby tried to buy his love, like when she bought the recording of the game show his dad was on. Even the wake at Harry’s Barn was her doing the same thing.

Yes, and it is going to eat away at her! I wonder if it will come out.

Lily is a mouthy git but I was rooting for her to tell ruby

The whole Ruby / Stacey now Lily arguments and falling out is just boring me now

I think the show feels so chaotic - like you can't tell what's coming but not in a good way

You just don't know how these characters, who we've known for years, are gonna be turned into

I was watching a clip on tiktok of reiss and sonia eating with Sharon and Keanu

I think in a good soap, they'd all still be there, and reiss would've just been a slightly weird normal man

Yes she definitely was - she clearly knew she wasn’t first choice but I think she was so in love she made herself believe him.

That memorial was nothing that Martin would have wanted it was her .

I agree they did both treat him like a possession but I do believe they both really loved him , I wouldn’t say one more than the other either , but it just happened that it was Stacey who Martin loved. He cared for Ruby , but he was in love with Stacey.

Youre right , Stacey is suffering enough . She knows she kept him in there and that led to his death, but it wasn’t intentional . He also made the choice to go in and save her … Ruby knows that and I think she knows too , deep down , that he would have done it for anyone . He would have gone back for her . But it’s harder for her because it was Stacey and she knows he loved her

I don’t see Ruby as being cruel. As far as she was concerned, she was with Martin and he was not interested in Stacey (which was actually true until about 20 minutes before he died).

Stacey has, as usual, caused the problems then cried endlessly about them. Lily was incredibly cruel telling Ruby, and Stacey might have denied it to Ruby’s face, but Ruby knows. As if she wasn’t isolated and miserable enough already.

@Annaannaannab - Stacey WAS responsible for his death, Ruby is not wrong there!

Martin is dead yet Ruby and Stacey are still managing to fight over him (and he really wasn’t that interesting!)

At least Grant became vaguely human before he left, and Nigel did not go with him. At some point someone might even suggest he goes home to Julie.

Has Stacey even indicated that she feels responsible for what happened to Martin? She hasn't said anything about their long chat and not wanting to leave until it was 'settled'. Perhaps it hasn't occurred to her that he might still be alive if she'd shut up sooner.

I got the feeling that she was starting to realise when Ruby said it was her fault he was dead.

She said to Jean early on ‘it’s all my fault’ but she meant because Martin stayed in there trying to get her out. I doubt she will admit talking his ear off for half an hour and not letting him leave.

I found the goodbye scene between Grant and Nigel very touching. Grant's return has been a disaster (and highlighted how limited Ross Kemp is as an actor) but his leaving scenes with both Bianca and Nigel were nicely done.

The wine and hotel piano music at Martin's wake made me laugh. Ruby was trying to keep it classy but got it all wrong poor thing. She always tried to position herself as a cut above the rowdy, low class Slaters but Martin was a market street trader who never fit in with her aspirations of grandeur.

I'm sure Ruby still has money, she still 'looks expensive' and does not dress like someone who works on the check out at Costco.

When they were all talking about what Martin was like it made me realise that for someone who had been around so long he was under-characterised, he was just there in the background and the real stories were happening with Stacey or Ruby.

There's already talk online of shazza being knocked up by Grant and having an older pregnancy.

At 56 I'd suggest this is bollocks theory!!

Agree, the goodbye between Grant and Nigel was the best part of Grant's return!

I really don't think they will do this tbh , it'll be ridiculous. The fans on Facebook are always saying this one and that one might be pregnant though .. 😆

I expect the Grant secret will be left simmering for some time, only for Phil to find out on their wedding day....
