I finished it all today, need a rewatch.

It's so good. Just as good as series one, although I needed more cleaner lady Viv because she was just excellent!

Thoughts on series 3?!

I think the ending was a surprise as I was expecting another episode to explain it all.

I liked it, but it was manic. I'm guessing it was because of her child being premature and messing up the schedule and availability of the actors and having to rewrite. Did Jen kill the old lady?

I have totally missed the MN references and the characters being a certain MN type and Jen being the overinvested LTB poster. I think Susie and Jen have known each other a while prior to Alex's death.

I wonder if 'Daniel Radcliffe' is a real-life school mum.

It was quite manic. I find DMC like that when I hear her being interviewed. I really like her and everything she writes but she's quite a difficult person to follow.

I liked AIBU sort of but it ended a I felt sorry for Nic as she has no relationships which are genuine it seems. Everything is catastrophic. Also how does anyone have any money? All they do is faff around 😆

Have you seen her on Never mind the Buzzcocks? She is sooo extra and attention seeking, laughing at absolutely everything. I can’t watch that show anymore because DMC has ruined it for me.

I've not seen it for years!! I've mainly heard her on podcasts etc where she is engaging but jumps from subject to subject.

SecondMrsTanqueray · 11/02/2025 22:05

Hmmm. We loved the first season. Not sure about second. Nearly gave up during ludicrous witch trial episode. DMC is actually very bad at acting.

We spent lots of time pondering and being distracted by her lips. They appeared to get larger and more grotesque throughout the season.

It was all a bit try hard, we thought.

Bruisername · 11/02/2025 22:16

I’m surprised people think Jen is just supporting her friend to ltb. The son is right - she’s a total psycho who clearly gets obsessive over women and killed the old lady to get attention from her current victim,Nic

and the pregnant girl was scared of Nic so I would be surprised if they want to tell Nic it was Suze

and I suspect the comment on the dodgy cellar stairs was to set up suze being found down there because the reason the son recognises Jen as a psychopath is because he is one too!!!

I did like the taxi driver and the housing officer bits

the witch dunking was ott but I guess served a plot purpose. Not getting the husbands motives in getting back with her though

IPartridge · 12/02/2025 07:58

I rewatched season 1. When he's stuck in the train door and panicking, he's shouting at Nic calling her a stupid bitch. If it was Suze that had told him to say those things then surely when his life was in danger he'd have stopped the act and told Nic he didn't mean it etc.

I think it was meant to be a complete story of its own, without the further twist.

Ironic (in episode 1?) when they're watching telly and Nic says she doesn't understand why they all have lip fillers and how weird they are.

You can be both a psycho, and encourage people to LTB! I don't think they're mutually exclusive.

It might even be a warped idea that she's helping her friend that drives Jen to act as she does.

Bruisername · 12/02/2025 08:13

her motive for her to LTB is purely selfish though as she wants her to herself

dapsnotplimsolls · 12/02/2025 17:53

I agree, Jen is a very ambiguous character. I'd like to know more about Harry's Dad.

Bruisername · 12/02/2025 17:55

And I think Jen did kill the old lady and her emotional state when the friend started singing the song she was going to sing with her previous obsession was a realisation that she may end up like those two old ladies!!!

although a bit odd as she will be making herself homeless. Assume the grandson will be inheriting… his face when he saw Nic was definitely more fear than relief they’ve found her so they can set her free

Bruisername · 12/02/2025 19:23

Wrong thread..

but I’ll just say - did we know husband was having g affair in series 1?

Whatnowthenfordone · 12/02/2025 21:28

Cremeeggtime · 11/02/2025 09:55

What would she gain by killing her land lady though?

Nicola’s sympathy so they’d make up.

FionnulaTheCooler · 12/02/2025 22:06

Can anyone tell me if there are any graphic scenes of cat death in series 2? I want to watch it as I watched series 1 and I was a huge fan of Daisy and Charlie together in This Country but I can't cope with watching right now after having recently lost my cat if so.

OtherCoraline · 12/02/2025 22:10

@FionnulaTheCooler it gets ran over which you see after through the rear mirror and a drone shot of it on the ground. I think that there is a bit of blood but nothing too close up or horrific.

Which episode is that in?

OtherCoraline · 12/02/2025 22:29

@FionnulaTheCooler I am pretty sure it's the last one but could be near the end of the penultimate one.

Bruisername · 12/02/2025 22:33

It’s the last one. It’s fleeting but I think you would find it upsetting.

there is also another scene with a cat that you don’t see anything but it’s not nice. I can’t remember which episode but I think you should probably give it a miss for the time being

Edited

Yes. Well - we knew he was a cheater.

IPartridge · 13/02/2025 07:47

Nic saw him showing Alex pics of the girl from the shop on his phone in season 1. And said something like 'cheating bastard' (in context of whatever else she was talking about).

Bruisername · 13/02/2025 08:30

So when Nic was in the shop and the girl was talking to her friend she knew it was about her husband?

BurntBroccoli · 14/02/2025 08:28

I really enjoyed it. As others have said it's very dark, almost like being in a nightmare, especially the poor cat and the train 'murder/accident in series 1.

I half thought at the end she would wake up and find it was all a dream!

No she didn't know he was having an affair but Alex did

the80sweregreat · 16/02/2025 09:16

Have to watch the final episode again, but has Ollie killed Suze ? I admit I did zone out a bit by the last episode ( on my phone ! ) but it looked that way ? Plus husband was a cheater too and Suze knew about Alex.

It certainly hints at that.

With series 3 commissioned, it’s the main pull into finding out WTF has happened and WTF will happen next.

the80sweregreat · 16/02/2025 10:19

Ollie a potential serial killer then :(
First pets , now a human.
How far will he go.
