it starts tonight doesn’t it? Where are we watching it? I used Daily Motion last season.

So exited 🤩

Episode 2 and to the surprise of absolutely no-one Tim's problem isn't that he is "too caring". If a partner's appearance is non negotiable, why would you go on and on about how you "don't have a type" to then turn around a few minutes after the ceremony to say actually you wanted someone short and petite. At least Eliot with vast list of non negotiables was nailing his colours to the mast in terms of being judgmental and shallow.
I am always highly dubious of men who announce themselves as "nice guys" as I find it to generally mean "I will be nice to women I find sexually attractive so that they will sleep with me". It's transactional rather than genuine niceness. And if the women do not fall for it, they make themselves out to be victims ("nice guys always finish last" or "friendzoned") as if the object of their attention somehow owes them sex.

It's a train wreck again this year (obviously I can't look away!) 💥🚂

Exactly this!

Argh Tim is definitely this year's shit lid- but worse! Shit lid turned out to be ok and tbf PolPot was a nightmare. In this case Katie seems funny, quirky and genuine but Jesus it's like pulling teeth for her - he's monosyllabic, dismissive and quite clearly cba to even try. It's evident he doesn't fancy her as she's not 'petite' and now he's trying to gaslight her by making out it's her being unreasonable and asking why she's there. WTF!

I really felt for Katie, she clearly has zero self esteem and now Shitlid-on-steroids has compounded all her insecurities :(

Having said that, this is clearly going to be another case of the experts continually berating someone for not being attracted to their match and insisting they need to work on it. If there's zero attraction that ain't gonna grow, I'm sorry, yet every year they insist it's just a matter of effort. But you'd think the experts would check deal breakers or at least physical preferences before matching 🙄

I think Afena was a bit unreasonable grilling her match about not loving her kid as much as his own - he said he might struggle with it but isn't sure, as he's not been in that position - I totally agree she needs to be cautious about a new partner, but it's unrealistic to expect him to immediately say he'll fall in love with her child and be a committed stepdad without question. Her comments were all about what he could bring to her and her child, and nothing about what they could bring to him ...

WhereTheFuckIsMyFuckingCoat · 01/02/2025 09:54

Tim is being absolutely lambasted here in Australia - and rightly so! He's treating Katie like a leper, like actually physically recoiling from her and stonewalling her. It's horrible to watch.

I'm not sure what sort of psychological investigation is done in the recruitment process, but it does feel like the producers have been wildly negligent in their pairing of Katie with Tim. She obviously has some really deep seated insecurities, and they've put her with an uncaring sponge of a man! ☹️

CaptBirdsEar · 01/02/2025 10:09

F

Merryoldgoat · 01/02/2025 14:23

Tim is awful but Katie is horribly insecure and comes across as very needy which is off putting for anyone.

It does make me laugh how such objectively unattractive men don’t see the irony in being disappointed at there being no ‘spark’. How many women does he suppose have looked at him and instantly been overcome with lust?

Elliott - it was obvious who he’d be from Buck’s night. And he’s only okay looking - you’d think he was Ryan Gosling the way he’s going on. He was perfectly happy until he realised she wasn’t going to be manipulated by him.

Why people with young children are allowed on is beyond me too.

Crikey where do they find these goons 🤦‍♀️ I've seen some bad acting but Jacqui's fake crying took the biscuit in today's episode.

<gives @OneAquaGoose a big sloppy kiss>

OneAquaGoose · 02/02/2025 22:13

@JandamiHash Thanks! Haven’t had one of those in years!

beasmithwentworth · 03/02/2025 09:51

Re yesterday's episode...

I went from feeling sorry for whoever was going to be paired up with 'the warrior' to then feeling sorry for the warrior for being paired up with her.

I know editing plays a part in these things but seriously?!!!

Will these people look back on how they came across and the frankly ridiculous things they said at some point in the future and be really mortified? Or maybe they will just carry on through life with their extremely high opinions of themselves and stick with their 'standards'

If you had told me they were both drafted in as actors it wouldn't surprise me!

Love morwena and Tony's wedding... apart from the absolute dick of a cousin. I suppose they need at least one at every wedding. It would've been too happy and plain sailing otherwise.

First DP tonight. Bring it ON!!!

mrsmalaprop · 03/02/2025 13:18

Oh my. I just saw the dinner party and my blood is BOILING.

Tim is a toxic waste dump of a man. Get the men is hazmat suits to clear the area immediately.

OneAquaGoose · 03/02/2025 21:07

Catching up on yesterday’s - Jacqui’s ridiculous fake tears! She’s foul.

Honestly - my husband asked who I was shouting at I was so angry.

Ah, my people. I’m loving how overweight, ugly Tim thinks he’d pull a petite, blonde goddess in the real world. I think he’ll be eviserated on the couch.

Seems suss that 2 couples had met before though.

mrsmalaprop · 04/02/2025 08:04

I worry every year when there is a curvier woman at the hen's night. It always seems to go the same way and it doesn't feel very fair or very responsible.

They need to ask the men outright when they are vetting them whether a larger woman will be off-putting and not think 'I don't have a type' means anything goes. It seems apparent that 'I don't have a type' means - as long as they are slim and conventionally pretty, I don't mind what colour their hair is.

No woman should have the experience of Katie or Gemma (UK) or Jo (Aus earlier season) or Emma (UK) - be immediately rejected and then have to go through the whole 'it's because I'm big, isn't it?' realisation.

It shouldn't be like that, but it is and it's always uncomfortable.

OneAquaGoose · 04/02/2025 11:11

It always drives me nuts when they let people on who say they don’t have a type. Everyone has a type otherwise we would fancy everyone.

OneAquaGoose · 04/02/2025 11:12

@NewYearIsHere So suss! I wonder how many of them are instagrammers and know each other from those circles.

NewYearIsHere · 04/02/2025 11:37

Just watching episode 7 and it seems Tim did have some self awareness after all! ‘I’m not Brad Pitt so I’m not expecting Miranda Kerr’…except he is.

OneAquaGoose · 04/02/2025 16:56

Jacqui has a point about the shoes. But she’s such a whinger.

PiggyPigalle · 04/02/2025 17:25

I watched it while a dog was in my eyeline cleaning his nether regions. Trying to decide who was the more revolting, him or Tim in his ripped leggings. Tim got it.

When Tim said he was going to wear his pink jacket, I immediately thought of a boil. How can a PE teacher look so unfit?

Majorityofthree23 · 04/02/2025 18:57

Is Ryan for real?????

FredaFox · 04/02/2025 19:40

Glad there's a thread. I watched the first dinner party on TikTok last night, someone had dove the whole episode in parts and wow , Tim!

Merryoldgoat · 04/02/2025 19:41

Majorityofthree23 · 04/02/2025 18:57

I think he might be an actual for real idiot.

Why do they put people with kids on the show? It’s always an issue and the parent is always offended by the other not immediately being thrilled to be a potential step-parent.
