yah. It’s back. For 8w

We're transported back to the tropical island of Saint Marie, and this time with a new Detective Inspector in place - but will DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) remain in the job for long?

Following the recently cracked case of ‘who shot the Santas?’, along with the revelation that his estranged mother has passed away, Mervin is ready to get back home and leave the island for good.

But when a case close to the hearts of those at the station presents itself, is he tempted to extend his stay?

As Mervin continues to ruffle feathers, the police team pull together to solve some of the island’s most confounding cases yet.

And making their mark across the series is a host of fantastic guest stars including: Tobi Bakare (Kingsman), reprising his role of Sergeant JP Hooper, Michelle Greenidge (Kaos), Joy Richardson (Dreamland), Stephen Odubola (Boiling Point), Anthony J. Abraham (The Acolyte), Simon Lennon (Our Girl), Bhavna Limbachia (Brassic), Adam James (The Day of The Jackal), David Avery (Gangs of London), Sofia Oxenham (A Very Royal Scandal), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Imogen King (Love Rat), David Mumeni (Bridgerton), Madeline Appiah (In The Long Run), Siobhan Redmond (Two Doors Down), Chantelle Alle (Hijack), Rita Bernard-Shaw (The Power), Bobby Gordon (Three Little Birds), Tony Marshall (Casualty), Charlotte Spencer (The Gold), Tala Gouveia (McDonald & Dodds), Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge (Holby City), Gerard Horan (Detectorists), Judith Jacob (The Five), Lily Nichol (Renegade Nell), Lyndsey Marshal (Inside Man) and more.

Elsewhere, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) must deal with momentous news from the Chief Commissioner in Jamaica that rocks the police department to its very core.

As an unexpected foe attempts to enforce the unfathomable, Catherine (Elizabeth Bourgine), in her role as Mayor, acts as the last line of defence in a battle to save the team as we know it.

In an unexpected twist, Naomi (Shantol Jackson) finds herself at an emotional crossroads when an old flame from St Barnabas makes a surprising appearance on the island, while Darlene (Ginny Holder) becomes a mentor when a new officer joins the ranks, but is left questioning whether she’s the right person for the job.

And with the opportunity to learn more about his mother’s life, Mervin begins to discover things may not be all that they seem in Saint Marie. As everything he thought he knew unravels, will his life ever be the same again?

Death in Paradise was the UK’s most watched returning drama in 2024 across all broadcasters and streamers, with last year's series watched by over 8 million viewers. BBC Studios, who distribute the series, have now licensed Death in Paradise to over 230 territories across the globe.

Following the successful launch of spin-off series Beyond Paradise in 2023, the Death in Paradise franchise has built on its international success with new Australia-set spin-off series for the ABC - Return to Paradise, which launched last year on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Filmed on the French Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe, Death in Paradise continues to delight audiences with the perfect blend of exciting escapism, puzzling mysteries, and juicy plot twists set against an idyllic sun-drenched backdro

I loved the scene where Selwyn arrested Sterling the wide boy too. 🤣🤣

Looking forward to the finale of this series, though frustrated that we have to wait an additional week for it. That should be illegal! 🤣

Bruisername · 17/03/2025 14:48

I’m glad we got the closure on his mum this series

beyond paradise is dreadful imo

diddl · 17/03/2025 15:34

Yes the Selwyn storyline was odd imo.

If he can't be afforded then he can't & I don't think he could grumble about being retired.

When it was said that Roy was working with someone else I half thought it was going to be Sterling!

Couldn't imagine the neighbour being able to go out & dress Dorna's body!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2025 15:39

I thought neighbour got dresses in Dornas clothes

Terry should have brought Sheila with him - her lemonade would have gone down a treat

There was a scene that Sophie Thompson did with Toby Jones talking about his daughter.

She was so good.

Reminiscent of the scene her sister Emma gets so lauded for in Love Actually.

Yes, but then supposedly neighbour took Dorna’s boat out to where palmers was (with drugged Dorna in it) and then swapped clothes and boat… transferring a drugged person much your own size between small boats stretched credulity tbh.

however I forgave the episode for selwyn and Melvin - there was such a ‘lost little boy’ sort of quality I thought, I was surprised when he said he was 50 (and even more surprised to find Gilét is actually 58).

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2025 16:45

He looks good for his age

I would 🙀😂😛

Ive just watched. I thought it was a bit of a stretch that Mervin would have worked all that out about the neighbour dressing in Dorna's clothes, taking the boat out, etc. I like Mervin though, hope he stays for a while.

ExtraDisorganised · 17/03/2025 23:16

I thought the reveal for the mother's death was far-fetched even by DIP standards and TBH had got bored with it. Enjoyed Selwyn arresting the new guy.

beyond paradise is dreadful imo

Is Beyond Paradise the Australian one?

Bruisername · 18/03/2025 11:53

I think that’s Return to Paradise? Also dreadful!!

RaraRachael · 18/03/2025 12:00

I can't stand anything that has Kris Marshall in it and the woman in the Australian one was so awful I only lasted 2 episodes

looking forward to it. Really enjoyed this series.

Topseyt123 · 28/03/2025 14:37

I'm very much looking forward to it too, though I am a little sad that this is the last one of the present series and we'll have to wait until next January for the next one to start.

Don't we also have Humphrey and Martha back shortly too now, in Shipton Abbott? I like that too. Tonight at 8?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/03/2025 15:09

Yes tonight

RaraRachael · 28/03/2025 15:13

I was all set to watch it last Friday and it was blooming Comic Relief!

ExtraDisorganised · 28/03/2025 17:20

Same here, we ended up watching Gogglebox, Comic Relief is a total cringe IMO.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/03/2025 21:05

Don’t know why they make an issue about him going home as obv he stays for next series

The cleaners picked up the keys. But we saw the keys be put in the drawers, and the lady walked in to the station… sunless there was a second set of keys but most cleaners have keys.

BBC have a reality series "Policing Paradise" that follows the cops on Bermuda (including the jet-ski boat-traffic cop).

Some of the characters would not be out of place on DiP (including a younger Selwyn Police Commissioner, A cop who wears an old bobby helmut, shorts and long socks and a cop who is like someone's bossy granny)

BBC One - Policing Paradise

Keep palm and carry on with Bermuda's island-hopping, crime-stopping police force.
