I know that my first thread isn't full yet. I just wanted to create the second thread before i forgot.

Anyone spotted any CTM actors in anything else recently? Cyril pulled a mummified leg out of a chimney on Unforgotten, he didn't have any lines though which is a shame as he does have a lovely voice.

In the series one episode about the family with 24 kids, the eldest daughter played the maid in an Inside No 9 episode. The Curse of the Ninth.

MintSpiesAtTheReddy · 23/02/2025 20:08

Phylis is back!

LIZS · 23/02/2025 20:17

There's a methadone clinic run by Dr T?

PrimalScreaming · 23/02/2025 20:20

So Dr Turner is now single-handedly solving heroin addiction! Interesting the addict has a Scottish accent - so stereotypical since Trainspotting!

MaloryJones · 23/02/2025 20:20

Shelegh's facial expressions made me laugh earlier when recounting about a complaint re Dr Turners bedside manner.

I am surprised re the Methadone trails .. Only because I never knew they were that early in Time. I was only 5 in 1970 though

blobby10 · 23/02/2025 20:25

Oh heavens- the ‘Yays’ are back 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

LIZS · 23/02/2025 20:27

Will Cyril and posh mw not be respectable enough?

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 23/02/2025 20:30

Do I recognise the bedbound mother?

Ella Bruccoleri (sister Frances) was in the film Joy on Netflix

LIZS · 23/02/2025 20:32

She has been in many tv shows

LIZS · 23/02/2025 20:45

Has the mw bedroom expanded?

CarefulN0w · 23/02/2025 20:51

Ha! I was adopted as a seven year old and no one spoke to me during the court hearing. It wasn't a particularly child centred process. (But very boring).

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 23/02/2025 20:52

Thank you. She’s been in everything.

PinkCandles · 23/02/2025 20:56

I remember women wearing dresses just like Violet's in the 70s.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 23/02/2025 20:57

Oh no! Oh that poor wee girl.

FagsMagsandBags · 23/02/2025 21:04

Crikey that's got my eyes leaking. I'm really appreciating that they're not sugar coating stuff recently. I was wondering where they were going to go with the couple but didn't see that coming at all.

witchycat2 · 23/02/2025 21:05

Looks like Nancy is back next week

And Paula, the 12 year old from earlier in the series.

KohlaParasaurus · 23/02/2025 21:09

Totally sideswiped by the, er, bedroom scene, but that was offset by the near-miracle rehabilitation of the malingering woman. And I was really hoping that Rosalind was going to teach the lout in the tunnel a painful lesson.

I'm watching on catchup. Zammo doesn't tell us to just say no for another decade and a bit yet.
Feels so early for methadone.

JSMill · 04/02/2025 21:14

This series is so much better than the last couple but I can't put my finger on the reason. I was glad to see Sister Julienne made good use of in Sunday's episode. I think she has been under utilised in the last few series.

There was too much of Trixie and her husband in the last two series.

Elderflower14 · 23/02/2025 21:20

Oh my goodness when the parents were found on the bed... 💔 💔

witchycat2 · 23/02/2025 21:20

I think there have been some different writers this series

The real life nuns stopped being midwives and started working with drug addicts in the 1970s so this is probably quite realistic. You could get heroin on prescription at that time known as being 'on scrip'. Apparently.

InMySpareTime · 23/02/2025 21:23

It was a bit light on midwifery again, and Dr Turner was once again running another community health clinic (with modern sensibilities) despite being the only GP for Poplar and having a full time job there. He also found time to attend (and mansplain) a birth that didn't need his specialist input.
Looking forward to next week with the juxtaposition of Nancy's wedding and Sr Catherine's vows.
