Binge watching today...I'm on episode four....it's really really good!!!

I miss Kevin! Glad it is back in some form though. I have watched the first episode and it is great so far.

Watched the first episode - thought it was great. Excellent writing and acting is top notch.

Lawrence Rickard of Ghosts fame is a writer on it too.

Oh great glad the first impressions are good. I’ll start watching this tonight. Joanna lumley’s character, if crossed with her character in Ab Fab, is just like my own mother (I was and still am more like Saffy than Amanda though, including the hair).

These two were my favourites.

I've liked the actress Lucy Punch before I watched Motherland and I thought Amanda was funny so I'm looking forward to watching this.

Anne is weird and not like Anne was

I really wish they had brought his character over to continue their relationship

It's motherland without any of the good characters! Except Anne... love Anne.

Amanda was the most annoying and least engaging character...

But Anne is weird in this

I've watched it all today and have enjoyed it but Anne was different I feel. I also don't understand why Anne is now living in that area in a smaller house as the last Christmas special her house looked bigger.

The best part of motherland was the lack of hearing from the children. But in this they speak far too much

I think it speaks volumes that ‘Amandaland’ was the spin-off of Motherland. The least funny, most irritating character. I only found her funny when juxtaposed with the grit and cynicism of Julia. But I haven’t watched yet so will give it a try. Maybe the writing can lift it - I just saw a clip of Julia at Parents evening from Motherland - that line ‘it’s not the Antiques Roadshow’ when the other parents are hovering around the table is absolutely priceless!

Yes it seems like in the gap between series she has forgotten how to play Anne - hopefully she will warm-up. Amanda and her mum are still good.

Hmm … Just watched Ep1 - found it was let down by the pace - far too rushed and try hard. Lots of potentially glorious characters but they didn’t let them breathe. And the visual gags were kind of gross and superficial.

The rest may have to wait until I’ve opened some wine and am feeling more easily pleased.

I’ve binged it all. I thought it was brilliant.

I've watched the first two episodes and loved it so far.
Anne mentioned she was going to work and was dressed a bit smarter then she used to so I'm assuming she's gone back to work and got a bit more corporate, she did say in Motherland she used to have a high up job at Glado-Kline? So I always felt there was more to her than the ditzy character but she'd just got lost in motherhood as many of us do.

I live in the ghetto that is Harlesden, I wonder how it will be portrayed in the show.

Yes I agree the were some great characters that could have been developed a bit more first.

Just binged the lot. I liked it. A few laugh out loud moments. Not as funny as Motherland though. I think it was missing the visual comedy elements such as Meg’s pissed state in No Mum Left Behind which makes me roar with laughter every time.
Also missed Kevin. Thought Siobhan McSweeney was very dull and unnecessary.

Why do they play for a Hounslow football team when they live in Harlesden? That is quite a distance.

Can’t wait for this but will miss the original cast, especially Julia.
