New thread for Episode 9!

And now (no expense spared)... here are ScruffMuffin's very unofficial Traitors Bingo Cards. No expense spared! Feel free to pick a colour (white, blue, pink, green or yellow) and play along tonight. We'll be playing here! Of course, you could use the excellent chart already supplied by another poster on the previous thread instead.

HOUSE RULES
If you hear something very similar to, but not identical to, the words on your chosen card, the other people in the room get to decide if it's close enough. If you're watching on your own, mark as you see fit.

Have fun!

I loved Joe's " Turn left on a plane". Made me like him more.

I first heard this expression a few years ago in an interview with Victoria Coren Mitchell. When she was younger she was a very successful professional poker player and she mentioned that she put some of her winnings into a pot "so I can turn left when I get on a plane". But I don't also know if Joe heard that, or if it's a common thing to say.

It’s a pretty common thing to say.

There was a very pointed close up of a book called The Seer and Claudia said that there would be an event that would shake up the game. Yes it’s speculation, but with evidence.

evidence?

Umm this is the traitors thread - its gut feelings, twinkles in the eye or convoluted theories only here.

Minah, why are you so trusting all of a sudden?

I'm hoping that the producers are messing with us and actually Minah is going to twig and help to boot Charlotte.

If Leanne wins anything at all, I shall be officially Very Cross.

Turkeyhen · 19/01/2025 10:55

About the seer thing, would Claudia select a faithful as the seer, who can then choose one player per night to investigate - then it is revealed to the seer whether the chosen player is a faithful or a traitor? The seer has to keep their status secret (otherwise they will be murdered) but can attempt to guide the faithfuls towards any traitor they have discovered or away from a definite faithful?

All this is further complicated by the possibility that the faithfuls may think a traitor is the seer (eg Charlotte could easily do this) or that a seer trying to help the faithfuls is behaving like a traitor. And traitors could mislead faithfuls by hinting somehow that they are the seer.

It feels very late in the game to do this!

SlightlyJaded · 19/01/2025 10:56

Team Minah or Alexander here. Ideally Charlotte gets thrown under a bus (although to her credit, she has been at least an animated/aggressive traitor), Minah recruits Alexander and they split the pot.

Don't think that's going to play out through.

I don't really understand the Seer scenario? Claudia tells everyone that she is going to appoint a Seer who will know who the Traitors are. She tells, say.. Jake. Jake tells the group that he is the Seer and the traitors are Minah and Charlotte. The end? What incentive would anyone (apart from the traitors) have for saying they are the Seer? Surely you'd be saying 'it's not me' so the real Seer is listened to? And if the Traitors do try and distract with different suggestions, it becomes a three man game - in other words, of the three people speaking up, one is a seer and two are the traitors.

Can someone explain it to me please?

To add to my post I think Joe feels threatened by Kaz and Alex as they are more intelligent than him

On that basis, he ought to hate Jake as well. I mean, they're all more intelligent than Joe, but Jake has shown it by his traitor-hunting.

It's quite interesting that Joe doesn't seem to go after women for being too clever. I suspect he just doesn't acknowledge that a woman could be brighter than him.

Turkeyhen · 19/01/2025 11:04

I don't understand all the Joe hate - he seems well liked in the group! Admittedly he suffers from Resting Sneer Face, but you do see the occasional glimpse of a dry sense of humour and self deprecation when he has been proved wrong 🤷‍♀️

Turkeyhen · 19/01/2025 11:06

It would be interesting if Alexander is chosen as the seer, a good test of his diplomacy skills?

outofofficeagain · 19/01/2025 11:11

@samarrange it was some very famous actress - Joan Collins or something who said 'i've only ever turned left'

It is used less now as we're all so used to Easyjet.

So none of you have mentioned the little trailer for next week at the end of the episode. Claudia was saying the people at the table has a big decision to make that could change everything.

The people shown in the clip were Charlotte, Minah, Alexander, Frankie and Freddie. Are they the finalists? Hope so.

Bye Joe, bye Leanne!

Deleted as I was just repeating what others had already said. Slaps own wrist.

beasmithwentworth · 19/01/2025 11:15

Sorry if this has been covered on here but I think I have RTWT and couldn't see a discussion on it.

On a FB group I am on, people were up in arms about the fact that no one picked up on something Charlotte said . Apparently she said something along the lines of 'there are 2 people here who are really laughing at us'

I didn't hear her say that but I was watching with 2 friends, one of whom was a bit pissed and kept talking over it (which was really annoying)

Did she say that?

I don’t know how they will apply the Seer role in Traitors (if that is indeed what is going to happen), but in the game Werewolf, the Seer only gets to check whether a single player is a werewolf or a villager once per ‘night”. All other players have their eyes shut and the games master silently shows the Seer the card o the person they have silently indicated. No one knows who the Seer is unless they deduce it. The Seer keeps his/her identity a secret so as not to be an obvious target, and therefore has to try to influence the villagers’ votes without explicitly saying ‘Look, I know Charlotte is a traitor’.

I assume there would be tweaks in applying it to Traitors, though. If you know for sure someone is a Faithful because you got to ask, maybe the Seer is safe to reveal his/her identity to them and work together? Though then they’re going to be none the wiser about who the traitors are unless they deduce it Seer survives the night and gets to ask again.

Civilservant · 19/01/2025 11:20

Yes, Charlotte did say that, in a more definitive way than others have that have openly speculated that there are 2 traitors.

KoalaKube · 19/01/2025 11:22

Haven’t RTWT, but does anyone else think Frankie and Freddie are mum and son ?

So they could appoint a seer. At some point before the round table the seer then says one name they want to investigate. They are then told faithful or traitor.
At the round table they can’t say that they know this person’s status but they can bring their name up and give reasons to banish them or defend them.

Ahh so it didn't seem AS obvious as if they had speculated that there might be 1 or 3 for example?

ScruffMuffin · 19/01/2025 11:27

Why oh why is the Frankie and Freddie thing still being mentioned? Nobody inside is related now. Those two don't resemble each other even slightly. And PPs have seen photos of Frankie's sons!

As for who she looks like... she's a younger version of our family friend, Sue!!

I find it kind of interesting that the group dynamics shown in the show don’t seem to reflect at all the opinions of lots of viewers of the contestants. Joe does appear well-liked by the other contestants, so the edit must be losing whatever qualities make him popular, while Alexander is a fan favourite but doesn’t appear to be much liked in the group.

I can only assume that spending ten or twelve hours daily cooped up with people is very different to those same people selectively presented in an hour of footage.

(I read something interesting from a former contestant whose identity I can’t remember yesterday — they said that while you’d think to watch it that the Faithful numerically dominate so that you’d think far more people don’t know who the traitors are than do know, but that in practice all of the 200-strong crew down to the psychologist and set arranging people all know who the traitors are, so it feels very anomalous to be one of the few who doesn’t!)

His work history is interesting. Along with diplomat we have teacher and I think volunteering as a carer on the Mencap holidays.

Oxford Uni.

Where have you found that out?

At least, I laughed at it 😂

Yes, it’s become the ‘Cancel the cheque!’ of Traitors threads.

Across half a dozen articles when I was looking to see where he went to school. I didn’t find that, though.

Charlotte has been married to an Alexander for two years. Not this Alexander.
