New thread for Episode 9!

And now (no expense spared)... here are ScruffMuffin's very unofficial Traitors Bingo Cards. No expense spared! Feel free to pick a colour (white, blue, pink, green or yellow) and play along tonight. We'll be playing here! Of course, you could use the excellent chart already supplied by another poster on the previous thread instead.

HOUSE RULES
If you hear something very similar to, but not identical to, the words on your chosen card, the other people in the room get to decide if it's close enough. If you're watching on your own, mark as you see fit.

Have fun!

Re. Frankie - I reckon we'd still be on thread 5 if we hadn't had all the posts wondering who she looks like and who she's related to!

Like you @Lentilweaver, I still want Minah to win even though I fear it's not going to happen. But Harry pulled it off last year (that was so exciting) so I still have a tiny bit of hope.

I know that Leanne's popularity has taken a nose dive on here since her arguments with Alexander and Leon, but I don't think that's a reason for picking apart her reasons for wanting another child?

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 19/01/2025 00:05

Leanne’s reason to have another baby just seemed to be so she could experience a full term pregnancy. Nothing about anyone else. And perhaps I’m being simple here but assuming that she’s fertile then can it not just be a turkey baster job?

I'm not an expert on the topic but I believe even getting donor sperm and having it inserted into the vagina is quite expensive (if going via the proper channels ie. a clinic).

Of course people do go on the internet and find man willing to give his sperm for nothing, but this is very risky. The clinics will have screened the men for any diseases or any hereditary problems, and there are rules about how many children each donor can father. There have been stories about some men with some sort of alpha fetish fathering hundreds of children by offering to help women over the internet. And getting sperm via this route means the men could in theory claim parental responsibility and demand access if they want to. Going via a clinic means there isn't a risk of that happening.

I was gutted that Harry won last year and didn’t want Wilf but can’t remember why! This year I want Minah, Alexander or Freddie. I could cope with Charlotte or Frankie& maybe Jake (like they care) but I’ll be gutted if it’s Joe or Leanne.

I hope next year they dont have the stupid get off train thing. Nobody would, I think!

They change it up every year. I don't think anyone had to leave last year, but the year before they made everyone get in a line and the two at the back had to leave

Any clues/spoilers in the Sunday papers or is it too locked down?

It's very locked down. They are probably embargoed and not allowed to say anything even if they know

Yes exactly this, also IVF is more likely to work than IUI and considering the whole process is expensive anyway, it makes sense to me that someone would choose the IVF route as it’s more likely to result in a successful pregnancy.

Tempting as it is, I'd rather not hear any spoilers please.

i think Leanne's game behaviour is fair game to criticise but having a go for why she wants another child is a bit mean. i had my son early (not as early as leanne) and never got to experience "having a big bump" or that happy time after they are born as he was in neonatal and i was very poorly. don't get me wrong - in my eyes a successful birth is one where both baby and mum survive so i don't feel cheated or anything - i feel lucky. however i understand how she might want to have another child. people want kids for all sorts of reasons and if she's a good mum who loves and looks after her kids then i think ripping her reasons to shreds are a bit uncalled for. Joe just wants to turn left on a plane!!

Lentilweaver · 19/01/2025 09:14

Am going to have such withdrawal symptoms next week. Will have to watch Traitors US S 3 out of desperation but US is always awful.

Is Traitors Canada available?

I’ll fight you for him

I wonder if woman of almost 40 with a Bum Bag tummy and slightly boss eye is his type 😂 if so I’m in!

Edited

Bring it on 💪👊🤺🥷

Lentilweaver · 19/01/2025 09:18

I loved Joe's " Turn left on a plane". Made me like him more.

MaxandMoritz · 19/01/2025 09:24

I have read that as well as donating to Mencap, Alexander would put the money towards buying a flat.

Nothing wrong with that at all, but not as entirely altruistic as he seemed at the dinner.

Lentilweaver · 19/01/2025 09:25

Wasn't there much more money last year?

He did say 'some of it'

And that bit was so clearly edited and prompted as 'everyone's sad story'

He still deserves to win.

According to Francesca's LinkedIn she trained at LAMDA and has appeared on telly before - maybe that's where some of you recognise her from?

Does anyone know?

They can only find out about one person a round. The tricky bit is if they say they have this then they get murdered for obv reasons. And do you believe someone who says they are the seer? Maybe more than one person can say they are... and now they don't find out at end whether banished people are fsithful or traitor

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/01/2025 09:41

Harry won just over £95,000 last year. I'm not sure where the 2025 prize fund is at present but it feels like there's a lot of making up to do to get to that sort of level?

Agree. I didn't notice he said 'some of it' but I'd also be happy for him to win.

I hate the sob stories that seem to be required. I wonder what Dan would have said. I wish he had stayed a bit longer.

Sorry haven’t read the whole thread. The Seer is a thing from the tabletop game Werewolf (which Traitors is based on). Have they said that there’s going to be a Seer on the tv show?? Or are people just speculating?

Thinks it's around. 60k

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/01/2025 09:51

I don't see the point of the sob stories and hate the Beeb for inserting them in.

Ask anyone "would you like to win £100,000" and anyone would say yes please! unless you're Musk/Bezos/Beckham etc although I reckon Beckham would do it for the money

123ZYX · 19/01/2025 09:54

I think in previous years, the final challenge has given them the opportunity to win amounts they'd lost in previous challenges

There was a very pointed close up of a book called The Seer and Claudia said that there would be an event that would shake up the game. Yes it’s speculation, but with evidence.

I'm not sure why I remember this, maybe it's the slow and precise way that Claudia said it, but it's currently £58,500. And I don't think they've missed more than about £10,000 by failing on challenges.

The article on the BBC that somebody linked to suggested that 200 people are working on the set, and I'm guessing the budget must be at least £5 million. So it seems a bit mean. But the BBC never pays huge prize money (because the Mailograph will complain about the licence fee, even though The Traitors will bring in millions in overseas sales), and I suppose a lot of the contestants are also in it in the hope of becoming stars in their own right.
