New thread for Episode 9!

And now (no expense spared)... here are ScruffMuffin's very unofficial Traitors Bingo Cards. No expense spared! Feel free to pick a colour (white, blue, pink, green or yellow) and play along tonight. We'll be playing here! Of course, you could use the excellent chart already supplied by another poster on the previous thread instead.

HOUSE RULES
If you hear something very similar to, but not identical to, the words on your chosen card, the other people in the room get to decide if it's close enough. If you're watching on your own, mark as you see fit.

Have fun!

100% glad it’s not just me- can’t place her but she looks so familiar

And me! I thought the programme had actively chosen a famous person to join the show at first.

She looks so familiar. I wonder if she has been on tv as an interior designer on a house program, or Interior Design Masters.

Or if she has a sister who is an actor so we’ve seen the sister which is why she is slightly familiar.

happinessischocolate · 18/01/2025 14:10

Leanne everytime someone mentions her name at the round table 😂

I saw the book and wondered why they decided to show a close up.

The Seer - might be traitors version of the sheriff/detective.

Yes, that occurred to me when Claudia mentioned an extraordinary new power. I’ve played Werewolf (though only ever in French, in France, as ‘Loup Garou’, and almost always slightly drunk, so my English vocabulary for it is spotty!)

I suppose they may do that, but Werewolf works so differently to Traitors, because there are so many roles other than just Villagers and Werewolves — as well as the Seer, there’s the Witch, the Lovers, Cupid, Hunter, Wild Child etc etc… And there are, when you have more players, hierarchical relationships among the Werewolves and among Villagers, and ‘independent’ roles who might ally themselves to either side…

I'm still blown away by how pretty Lisa looked on Uncloaked -- that orange-y red really suited her, plus I suppose she'd had her hair done and was wearing make-up, but I'm not sure that entirely accounts for the difference. I thought she looked wonderful.

(Though maybe that was the absence of that nasty shirt with the dogs on it, which made me want to shout 'Jumble sale! Compulsory parish jumble sale!' every time she wore it.)

I do see why people think she was playing the role of bumbling, slightly absent-minded vicar when she was in the game. I'm not sure I agree, but I see why they thought it.

It made me think about makeup on the show in general -- people are routinely made up, men and women alike, when appearing on TV, even if it's as a talking head on a news programme, as we're told that otherwise people look pallid and unwell. Other than Leanne and Anna, who both wear/wore visible makeup, are other people subtly made up for the camera by crew?

I also saw this a while back -- stylists working on the show:

Wardrobe treachery: how The Traitors contestants use fashion to deceive

That’s really interesting about the stylists. I wonder what they made of Anna…?

Turmerictolly · 18/01/2025 15:19

I wonder if Anna was a traveller? We have a community of travellers in our area and the women dress like this and have a similar accent.

AnxiousRose · 18/01/2025 15:22

happinessischocolate · 18/01/2025 13:28

Because they're thick 😬

Perhaps they did but it wasn't shown

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 18/01/2025 15:25

@Sissix on uncloaked she did say that's how she was trying to appear.

Anna isn't a Traveller.

Probably hiring security to accompany him into Y8 lessons...

He sings, he heaves torsos, he has lovely manners. Alexander for the win, please. if not Minah.

Totally agree!

So do I . I love Alexander.

latetothefisting · 18/01/2025 16:45

I really like minah and want her to win but think people are being a bit hard on Charlotte. Presumably she remembers minah voted both armani and Linda out, and as far as Charlotte knows minah used the same "sisterhood" "we can get to the end together" line on them. I'm not convinced minah has changed her mind, it seems a bit random that she'd now be up for sharing the money with someone she's only been working with for a few weeks.

A few bits in this most recent episode seemed quite scripted - I don't believe Leanne organically asked "what would you do with the money" for example - it was clearly a prompt from production to get the sob stories in - I'm pretty convinced they also gave Charlotte and minah some leads or at least very heavy editing to push a new story.

I also like frankie but considering how often she gives it the "single mum to 4 boys with no support" story it makes me wonder who is looking after them while she's in there -someone willing to care for 4 young lads for up to a month is pretty supportive!

Choux · 18/01/2025 17:25

Frankie is married isn't she? I thought I read somewhere she had (re)married. Will have to try and search it out.

Anyways my musings for next week. If traitors are going to win Minah absolutely deserves to be there for that win. In my view it's a flaw in the game if Charlotte gets to set herself up as a clear faithful for the first 50% of the series, then can switch sides, evade detection as a traitor and throw the OG traitor under the bus to sweep the money.

So with that in mind a dream scenario would be...

Wed - Jake is murdered and Leanne is banished
Thursday - Joe is murdered to leave the final 5 as Minah, Charlotte, Alex, Frankie and Freddie. As Joe was murdered they know there is a traitor among them. Minah and Charlotte go all out on each other as there is minimal suspicion on the others. Alex and Frankie decide it's Charlotte and she is banished. They decide to end the game and Minah wins.

My absolute dream scenario is that the traitors are somehow offered a way to recruit and recruit Alex. He is unwilling to push Minah out as she has most of the work so he diplomatises Charlotte to choose to share or be banished by them and she decides to share with them. But I can't see how the recruitment could be offered this late.

Choux · 18/01/2025 17:28

Thinking about it what's more likely to happen with a final 5 as Minah, Charlotte, Alex, Frankie and Freddie is that Minah and Charlotte go all out on each other as there is minimal suspicion on the others. Alexander realises they are both traitors and persuades Frankie and Freddie to banish them both. Then the faithfuls win.

CarefulN0w · 18/01/2025 17:29

Really not getting the Frankie love. I think she's nearly as reactive as Leanne when things don't go her way. She's just been able to hide it through her clique.

Obviously Alexander is being affected by being a late entrant, when the dynamics have been established. The BBC article mentions a lot of downtime talking to people about their lives and I wonder if, despite his obvious diplomatic skills, he is struggling to bond with the thick blokes. Class plays a part, but he probably has little in common to help him build alliances.

ViolinsPlayGentlyOn · 18/01/2025 17:29

I don’t know if they would be allowed to recruit if one of the Traitors gets banished Wednesday. Or as there are only 2 of them whether they can always choose to seduce rather than murder.

Plastictrees · 18/01/2025 17:29

@Choux I agree Minah deserves to be in the final. I don’t think Charlotte being able to switch sides is a flaw in the game, I think it’s a flaw in Minah’s game and she should have recruited someone else e.g Frankie.

I don't understand why people think that those who haven't been a traitor all along don't deserve to win as a traitor. In some respects, staying in as a faithful is more difficult as they have double the chance of being eliminated (murder and banishment) - maths is not my strong suit but this is my reasoning! The recruitment and people switching sides should actually give the faithfuls more clues...it is easier to spot people's behaviour shifting.

This time next week I’ll be bereft!

There’s always the US version to look forward to.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 18/01/2025 17:54

Just caught up on Uncloaked and the bonus Uncloaked. I agree that Lisa looked so different. She made it sound that she was playing a character and I think she dressed a as someone would expect an older female vicar to dress. It has the double of making you a trusted person and also a motherly character.

I love that Alexander didn’t want to get the women gunked in the game where they poured stuff over people as he didn’t want to mess up their hair. How is he single?

Sillimee · 18/01/2025 18:17

Can someone please explain to me in very simple language 😂 how a role of "the seer" would work?

From what I read in the Metro etc this person would find out who is a traitor and who is a faithful? So how is that going to help, wouldn't they just be like, guys I've got the special power and these people are the traitors?

Even if they weren't allowed to say they had the special power, if everyone knows a twist is coming and suddenly one player is very sure of who the traitors are, surely that's going to be pretty hectic?
