Continued discussion for series 3 of The Traitors UK.

OP posts:
Lentilweaver · 16/01/2025 08:51

Alexander does look like a polite werewolf and yes, he has lovely jumpers.😀

Yes, Minah had Linda eating out of her hand! She is great. Hope she can do tje same with Charlotte.

Because in all previous series it was because they were close to a Traitor. Like Harry took Molly to the end because she was besotted by him.

Exactly this. It’s how Minah hoodwinked the generally astute Dan (with their Scouse alliance), which Dan rightly began to question. So, at this point, it’s sensible to start wondering if you’re still there due to the people you most trust and are closest to.

A harder pill to swallow is it’s because you’re so gullible the Traitors don’t see you as a threat.

I read Alex’s game plan is to be observant, play stupid and be a nice guy. I think it’s really working, as Alex is sailing through, so far. If I were a Faithful, if I suspected someone was a Traitor, I wouldn’t say anything to anyone. I’d befriend the Traitor and tell them I know they’re 100% Faithful. Far more chance they’ll carry you through to the end, where you can stab them in the back to win the money.

Think it was risky. The bias for accents absolutely exists, but which way the bias points depends on what the majority accent type is. It's the minority accent that would get the negative.

Mind you, a Welsh accent didn't help the actual Welsh person.

The majority type is tending towards slightly stronger regional accents in this group though, isn’t it? (Leanne/Anna/Jake/leon). In that respect Charlotte has played well as she’s gone under the radar a bit as she would have risked falling victim to the posher/harder to place accent being ‘untrustworthy’ that Kas and Alexander are coming up against. The contestants have put her in the ‘generic Welsh’ category because they don’t know the nuances of a Welsh accent enough to suss her!

This has probably worked in Minah’s favour a bit, certainly at the beginning, as her accent has probably helped her fit in with the group slightly better?

Do you think Fozia would have comforted Leon if she'd won?

I didn't like Fozia, thought she was quite rude and abrasive, especially with Linda. I thought she'd change my mind on Uncloaked but no, still very rude.

Completely disagree. Linda was exceptionally rude to her when all she did was ask a few questions as part of the game and then after murdering her she made the childish comment of get over it which was most certainly not said in jest. I’m with Fosia all the way.

Turkeyhen · 16/01/2025 09:13

Pumpkincozynights · 16/01/2025 08:01

I can actually see why Charlotte is putting on a fake accent. I’ve said it before. People stereotype others based on many things including accent. Charlotte has what could be described as a ‘posh’ accent. In many people’s minds that equals intelligent and that is a dangerous quality to posses in this game.

I hadn't noticed until one of the 'diary room' pieces last night how posh Charlotte's real accent is. Totally agree with you, she would have been picked on by now were it not for the fake Welsh accent.

JandamiHash · 16/01/2025 09:14

WinterCosiness · 16/01/2025 08:31

Did anyone else notice that Alexander was left sitting alone at the round table when everyone else left? Isolated like Kas was 😔
He actually voted for Linda one day last week (after the breakfast performance!) but went for Leanne last night, which won't help him unfortunately. Poor guy. Really hope he somehow survives tonight.

It seems he’s being punished for going in late, despite coming across as a really amiable nice chap. I agree with PP that poshos rile people for some reason

EdithBond · 16/01/2025 09:15

The stress is deffo going to ramp up on Charlotte. Her bio says:

“I know I will have to control my reactions if I’m picked to be a Traitor. I was watching the first Australian series the other day and the guy described it articulately when he said he felt this adrenaline surge through him, and he had to do all he could to just push it down. That will be me 100%. I will have to suppress every natural reaction and then just really breathe, quietly and subtly. I think I'll have such a thrill if I'm a Traitor…I have a terrible poker face”.

And then she’s got the Welsh accent on top!

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/01/2025 09:16

I stopped reading this thread at about 10.30 last night and haven't caught up on everyone's post-show analysis, but I need to get on with my day so my thoughts are:

Fozia was exceptionally rude to Linda at her murder. She said something like "oh ha ha, YOU won't last long" so no wonder Linda bit back. I'm sorry to see Linda go, she was entertaining at least and did pretty well to last this long.

It's easy to say as a viewer - but are this group particularly thick or what? Why the hell were they wasting time having a cosy chat with Anna and Alexander when the clock was ticking on their 60 minute task? I was screaming at the TV.

Francesca actually digging up a grave. I mean WTF? Did she seriously think they'd bury someone in a coffin? Also, going out on a task in snakeskin slingbacks. If I were a faithful in that game I'd probably suspect her of being a traitor trying to sabotage the task because of those two unbelievably stupid mistakes.

I still don't understand why they think a traitor was in the four for the death game. It was a game of chance. So a traitor could not have engineered it to stay in Confused.

Leanne = nasty piece of work. She's always been the cleeeeeeeeeky type.

Charlotte = interesting choice by Minah.

Turmerictolly · 16/01/2025 09:17

Alex and Frankie are playing a good game I think. Both a bit inconspicuous. Anna too as she has this narrative that the traitors are picking on her.

Lentilweaver · 16/01/2025 09:19

I was amazed they didn't know the Roman numeral for 8.

Choccyscofffy · 16/01/2025 09:21

The way they decided it was Linda was a bit weird as she seemed to be coasting the past few weeks.

Would it have been the comment about holding her emotions in?

TokyoSushi · 16/01/2025 09:23

I'd quite like to end up in a situation where Minah & Alexander split the money, although I'm not quite sure how we'd get there.

Everybody else is becoming almost unbearably unpleasant, particularly Leanne, I hope she's gone soon.

Choccyscofffy · 16/01/2025 09:24

happinessischocolate · 16/01/2025 07:04

Of course Fozia would have comforted Leon. Look how she stuck up for Kas.

Leon was insensitive to shout yes and jump up like that when he won.

Turkeyhen · 16/01/2025 09:24

@LindorDoubleChoc I wondered why no one picked up on Frankie misreading the grave number as a possible act of sabotage (although there would be no point in sabotaging a mission unless it prevented a faithful from getting a shield). In future series perhaps the missions should be better designed to allow traitors to sabotage and thus give the faithfuls clues. I am finding this year's missions lame so far, much as I love the show.

Also what the heck happened to the Columbo task to work out how the traitors had selected the four for the death match? Apart from the whole business with Minah's drink, there was hardly any talk about it or effort to find clues.

@TetHouse your description of Alexander - "polite, diplomatic Alexander (whom I kind of like, for his jumpers and the fact that he looks rather like a nice werewolf, if a werewolf had lovely manners and an air of ‘Let’s talk this through before anyone gets hurt…’)" - absolutely brilliant 😂

TetHouse · 16/01/2025 09:25

Lentilweaver · 16/01/2025 09:19

I was amazed they didn't know the Roman numeral for 8.

Yes! Though Francesca at least clearly did know, and presumably just got flustered and misread it. It did occur to me at the time that people have gunned for possible traitors for far less — poor Anna was nearly banished for a rookie error in tying up a boat because she was thought to be a traitor ‘sabotaging the mission’. You could go after Francesca on similar grounds.

(Also, on accents and class, Francesca presents to me as at least as MC as Alexander or Kaz — how come she’s flying so successfully under the radar?)

Leanne got arrogant because she thinks she has friends that are faithful and traitors.

She really thinks she’s being protected.

This is the first time in the UK show where I really want a traitor (Minah) to win.

Linda completely failed to read the room, she insisted on speaking first, drawing attention to herself in a most unnecessary way and deflecting attention away from the suspicion on Leon and Alexander, a bandwagon she could and should have jumped on. Love Linda but she was hopeless!

JessyCarr · 16/01/2025 09:28

I think there’s a magic clock on Traitors missions. It runs extra fast until the mission is in peril, and then v e r y s l o w l y …

How come Joe and Jake are still there? They put me off watching it. They don’t really contribute anything apart from sneery facial expressions. Deeply unlikeable.

Although it was Jake who was the first to challenge Linda when he spotted her response when Claudia addressed the traitors

Turkeyhen · 16/01/2025 09:30

Joe reminds me of Will Self (if he was young and Mancunian). I think it's the permasneer.

Leanne is they typical popular girl at school.

Has a clique but will come down hard on anyone who suggests that she does, looks to play the victim and believes that she is beyond reproach. She really showed her true colours last night and I hope she is murdered soon.

I really liked her the first few episodes.

God, I can’t unsee that now.😀

I would watch the hell out of Writers Do Traitors. Already thinking who I’d book…

EdithBond · 16/01/2025 09:34

@LindorDoubleChoc In the first two seasons they did bury people in coffins.

On the death game point, we know more than the players. It depends whether they trust what Anna, Alexander and Leon are telling them about it being a game of chance.

All three (or Alexander and/or Leon) could be Traitors and lying about that. A number of people have suspicions about Alexander and both Anna and Leon have also been suspected as being Traitors previously.

Plus, a Traitor could have easily put themselves into that game as a high risk strategy to prove they’re Faithful (as Paul did with the dungeon last year). The Traitors didn’t know it was a game of chance when they nominated.

In addition to the many irritating things about the majority of the faithfuls this year ( immature, over emotional, seem not to like intelligent or strategic thinkers) is that they persist with the idea that there is a ‘traitor personality’ and that someone can’t be a traitor because they are ‘ not the type/ are my friend, etc’. It is maddening.

Edited

I read an interesting article about this. They argued that the contestants had watched too much of the previous series and so we're trying to second guess the producers all the time. Convinced they would pick a certain type of traitor so they were looking at personalities rather than properly playing the game and looking for clues.
I think he is right it is also stopping the from thinking properly Anna was convinced Meena was a traitor because she handed her a glass which happened last year's she wasn't thinking clearly as surely if she thought that she should have asked the others.
