Continued discussion for series 3 of The Traitors UK.

OP posts:

I can actually see why Charlotte is putting on a fake accent. I’ve said it before. People stereotype others based on many things including accent. Charlotte has what could be described as a ‘posh’ accent. In many people’s minds that equals intelligent and that is a dangerous quality to posses in this game.

Mintyt · 16/01/2025 08:04

Minia should have chosen someone who is suspected of being a traitor or the girl that refused that way she's getting rid of people and staying in power.

JandamiHash · 16/01/2025 08:05

Leon came across as sulky because he was in that group of 4. Does he not understand the game? I don’t like him either. Why do so many take it so personally on when they know the game?

As we’ve all spoken about the POC and smart people are continuing to be targetted by the shouty simpletons. I think Leanne reckons she’s a smart cookie when she’s not. I don’t think she’s ever got a traitor!

I thought Linda was exceptionally rude to Fozia. “Get over it”. She was also rude in the castle to her a few times. I have to say I recognise it as often how white people speak to people who are not white.

Lentilweaver · 16/01/2025 08:06

Yes Minah should have chosen Alexander instead of going with her weird sisterhood concept. Or Frankie.

EdithBond · 16/01/2025 08:08

WinterCosiness · 16/01/2025 07:11

Yes, she would have. Evidenced by the fact she was so gracious towards him in defeat. She also stuck up for Kas on her first round table, and proved herself to be a firm but fair type. Very ethical and genuine.
Fozia was great. I don't share your opinion of her at all. But, you're entitled to it, and we all see different things in different people.
Fozia wasn't rude to Linda. She called her out as a traitor - which she was! Linda was awful to Fozia with her 'get over it' comment. I liked Linda overall. But that comment alone made me glad she's finally been caught as a traitor.
Fozia was astute, and would have been an asset to the faithful if she'd stayed longer. C'est la vie.

I too am a Fozia fan. Wish we’d seen more of her, as I thought she stole the show in the few episodes she was in. She’s kind, astute and funny. On Uncloaked, I thought her banter with Linda was hilarious.

To me, they both really enjoyed the drama of the game and appear to get on really well. I think that’s where Linda’s ‘get over it’ comment came from. They were play-acting.

Two more big characters gone ☹️

Choccyscofffy · 15/01/2025 21:56

‘Let people see the jerk that you are’ 😂

I laughed out loud at this too!

happinessischocolate · 16/01/2025 08:10

Assuming Charlotte accepts then I would murder Jake now.

  1. he's an obvious faithful

  2. Maia was responsible for Armani being voted out and she then got murdered. Jake is responsible for Linda getting voted so murder him 😂

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 16/01/2025 08:11

Leanne came across absolutely horribly last night. I am noticing all sorts of things that she says that irritate the crap out of me, like ‘I just keep thinking why am I still here?’. it’s annoying me so much because cleverer players have said it once, and she’s taken it and run with it and keeps repeating it. You’re still here because you’re stupid, hun, and that suits Minah quite well because you don’t suspect her.

Alexander handled her brilliantly but she was dreadfully rude to him. I really hope she’s banished, rather than murdered because she thinks she’s popular and I want her to be annoyed tbqh after that little performance. And then describing it as a sassy! No, you weren’t sassy, you were unbearable.

Alex initially irritated me with the whole ‘we should all say why we need the money’ but then has completely gone under the radar since. Yesterday he played well, used a lot of logic and was quite sensible so back on my ‘good list’.

Truly don’t see the point in Leon, and he was so dramatic over the card game. It was all chance, you fool!

Sad Linda and Fozia have gone - albeit for different reasons! Fozia was smart, and Linda was hilarious.

Lentilweaver · 16/01/2025 08:16

I don't think Alexander was being patronising at all at the Round Table. This group hates anyone who is intelligent or well spoken.
I really hate the getting off train thing this season. It deprived two of the most interesting Faithful of the chance to establish trust.

TetHouse · 16/01/2025 08:19

EdithBond · 16/01/2025 07:52

@TetHouse In some ways, it’s a game that rewards incompetence. Often the Faithful who make it to the end are the more gullible ones, who haven’t got a scooby who the Traitors are. That’s why they’re kept.

Anyone who appears clever (e.g. Kas) is either banished or murdered. I think Fozia would likely have been murdered before the end as she was outspoken and smart.

Oh, I agree that dopier Faithful often make it further.

My point is just that the producers chose an ‘incompetent’ Traitor in Linda.

As I don’t think she can have been a brilliant and convincing liar under pressure in the ‘interview’ (and then just lost it once the game started), they clearly cast her for some other reason — likeability? Klutziness? To have an older woman as a traitor? Probably because they thought she’d make good tv…?

kindlyensure · 16/01/2025 08:20

witchycat2 · 15/01/2025 22:06

They discussed it at breakfast earlier in the day

Ah, thank you - I totally missed that. I should have realised they would not add any extraneous info in. (Was watching it with others, and there was too much talking! Tonight I shall focus.)

Inmydreams88 · 16/01/2025 08:20

I don't understand the mindset of "Why am I still here??!, there must be a reason!" Why do they think they are so special, or that there must be a deep and meaningful reason why they are still there. It's just chance and luck.

Because in all previous series it was because they were close to a Traitor. Like Harry took Molly to the end because she was besotted by him.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 16/01/2025 08:22

Pumpkincozynights · 16/01/2025 07:55

On uncloaked Linda did say she didn’t really hear Claudia say the word Traitors. She was concentrating so hard on wanting to not be picked that when Claudia touched her, her mind was racing. She said she turned her head towards Claudia only because Claudia started speaking.
I don’t believe we as viewers would know who the traitors are if we weren’t told. I’ve watched The Mole which is similar to this but the viewers are in the dark as much as the contestants and it is very difficult to pick out the Mole.

We wouldn't have a clue and would base it on who we disliked and are on biases, along with small insignificant actions and interactions. Just like the contestants, who have frequently been accused of being stupid for doing that!!

I'd say these threads would be really spikey if we didn't know!!

happinessischocolate · 16/01/2025 08:25

If Linda hadn't started slagging off Leanne in the kitchen and then taking it to the round table she'd still be there.

Prior to that they were suspecting Leon and Alexander because of the task.

Snowmanscarf · 16/01/2025 08:25

I agree that Jake would be seen as a Fairhful now, but did he suspect anyone else? I

She said on Uncloaked that she’d always thought she was a good liar. So maybe they thought she’d be a bit like Amanda in Season 1 and befriend everyone, without arousing suspicion. Which she kind of did in a way, as she did last a fair while.

Also, I guess she’s pretty dramatic, being an opera singer, and they thought it’d create some memorable moments,. Which, again, it did.

WinterCosiness · 16/01/2025 08:31

Did anyone else notice that Alexander was left sitting alone at the round table when everyone else left? Isolated like Kas was 😔
He actually voted for Linda one day last week (after the breakfast performance!) but went for Leanne last night, which won't help him unfortunately. Poor guy. Really hope he somehow survives tonight.

If I recall, someone upthread noticed that he was being isolated as well.

I think it’s just a cliché they’ve absorbed from previous seasons that they keep repeating as if it’s some kind of deep analytic question that lets them See Through Traitors’ Eyes. When it often just means ‘I’m stupid enough not to be threatening’, or ‘I’m just not on anyone’s radar’ rather than ‘A Traitor loves me and wants me to share the prize money!’

Leanne has always annoyed me, and yes, she was astonishingly unpleasant to polite, diplomatic Alexander (whom I kind of like, for his jumpers and the fact that he looks rather like a nice werewolf, if a werewolf had lovely manners and an air of ‘Let’s talk this through before anyone gets hurt…’)

Surely if, as the letter Fozia read suggests, Leanne was an officer rather thsn a squaddie, she’s familiar with accents and manners like Alexander’s from work? That round table attack came across to me as if she were being chippy on class grounds, but being ex-army, he’s hardly the first middle-class man either an air of authority she’s encountered.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 16/01/2025 08:36

True. But it did give us a bit of an insight to Leanne's personality. Whilsr surrounded by her buddies she was thrilled with herself are the idea of going in an confronting Linda, confident in the support she'd get.

Oh just thought, one thing I judge them on is their eating habit and use of cutlery. Joe as another mark to his name for this. He's no merits from me, so there's no hope I'll ever warm to him.

On a tangent, Joe couldn't possibly be thinking of heading back into teaching after being on this could he?!!!

Think it was risky. The bias for accents absolutely exists, but which way the bias points depends on what the majority accent type is. It's the minority accent that would get the negative.

Mind you, a Welsh accent didn't help the actual Welsh person.

LuckysDadsHat · 16/01/2025 08:44

I have come to the conclusion I like none of them this year. I wish they would do a steal/share at the end and hope they all steal so no one gets it. They don't deserve it.

Bichette · 16/01/2025 08:49

I think Minah played Linda beautifully. She got her to do the riskier bits of the writing on the picture challenge and even had her permission to banish her. Brilliant!

I think Lisa was still at the table too but less noticeable in the shot as she was bottom left.

On 1 hand he isolated himself by staying at the table, it's no one elses fault if he chooses to not get up, but on the other hand it may be a symptom of everyone ignoring and isolating him throughout the day so he saw no point in getting up.
