The six-part series on for 3 weeks every Sunday and Monday at 9pm

will star Martin Clunes as a farmer confronted with dark forces that begin seeping into his rural community, as per the log line.

Clunes plays Nathan Williams, a man grieving the death of his wife two years prior.

Now a single parent, Nathan finds himself embarking on a mission to protect his family, homestead and legacy when his son and livelihood are threatened by local county lines drug dealers.

He’s missed all the clues that the country idyll around him has been fatally compromised, contaminated by waves of criminality spreading and mutating virus-like from the city.

"Now Nathan must accept that the rustic atmosphere of his childhood is long gone, replaced by something altogether more edgy and perilous.

And the only way for Nathan, our hero, to survive in this brave new world is to learn the rules and fight back.

The series will also feature Louis Ashbourne Serkis as Johnny, Mark Lewis Jones as Caleb Williams, Natalia Kostrzewa as Eva, Carly-Sophia Davies as Sadie and Gerran Howell as Rhys.

Out There” is the slang used by urban drug dealers to describe a “countryside” they hardly know and yet greedily exploit through County Lines.

Welsh farmer, NATHAN will stop at nothing to protect his son and farm. Nathan’s son, JOHNNY has reconnected with an old friend, RHYS, now a local drug dealer.

Rhys manages to trick Johnny into running drugs for him.

On learning part of this, Nathan tries to sort things out for Johnny the best way he knows how: by threatening Rhys and trying to pay off the debt without involving the police.

County lines is a particularly vicious and ruthless wave of drug dealing that uses fear and violence to coerce, often vulnerable, young people into working as runners and dealers,"

I've only seen episode one so far but didn't think it was dull or slow at all

butterpuffed · 21/01/2025 15:42

Ep 2 has picked up !

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/01/2025 19:52

I've seen the whole thing. No spoilers here, but it's certainly not slow or dull as the series proceeds.

That was a very uncomfortable watch. What the hell are they going to do now?

PrincessScarlett · 26/01/2025 21:54

Who was that watching them?

HoraceCope · 26/01/2025 22:52

Seems good so far

purpleme12 · 26/01/2025 22:58

Wow I was not expecting that bloodbath

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 26/01/2025 23:04

Now I understand why the police don't get involved with the runners and cuckoos. These people are despicable, they ruin so many innocent peoples lives it's just unreal.

My parents next door neighbour son was a drug dealer, we knew things were bad but shit that's scarey. Thankfully they moved to "a nicer part of town" as they put it. He got sent down not long after.

I had similar when I lived I a city. It's horrific to think about what could happen.

purpleme12 · 26/01/2025 23:51

PrincessScarlett · 26/01/2025 21:54

Who was that watching them?

I didn't even notice anyone watching them!

PrincessScarlett · 27/01/2025 06:58

When they were disposing of the body. The one who phoned Jane Crowther at the end.

@Keepingittogetherstepbystep
These people are despicable, I agree. I think the programme has shown this brilliantly. Reece was hooked in the same way he then hooked Johnny in. All these kids have their lives absolutely ruined.

And there is always someone higher up the chain. Even Kenny had a 'boss'. These kids all end up fighting and killing each other whilst the scum at the top of the chain are getting rich.

HoraceCope · 27/01/2025 08:44

oh it seems i watched episode 2 and not 1? or even 3?
not dull
but a bit confusing as i missed the beginning, it seems i missed an episode?

purpleme12 · 27/01/2025 08:46

Oh dear 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2025 16:47

Finally seen and avoided thread till now

Oh wow. That was a good episode but we needed to see a death to get it gripping

I don’t understand how the 2 of them got Kenny’s body out of the hotel and into the car without anyone seeing them

I know they said the hall cameras weren’t there but a huge risk to take a body via the hall/stairs

they didn’t know no cameras and didn’t wear masks etx

Through the kitchen

so the only camera they have in a big hotel like that was outside showing entrance

seems weird

obv mc was driving the car and not Kenny

plus how did they manage to clean up so well

all that blood over room and bathroom. Over the walls and bedsheets

to have towels - rubber gloves - wipes - bags etx

so went shopping before to the room

again no cameras saw dad and uncle arrive with bags of cleaning stuff

obv stripped the bed

i know she said they had a party /made some mess and left extra money but seems a bit suss

moustache man was watching. He had a gun

And called it in as anon

@Blondeshavemorefun Dan the guy on reception said they had deliberately disabled some of the cameras in the hallways and somewhere else because of the dodgy goings on. So if Kenny regularly uses the suite, all cameras en route to the suite will have been turned off.

PrincessScarlett · 27/01/2025 16:54

Who is moustache man? Must be dodgy (or a farmer) if he has a gun. Didn't spot the gun.

Caleb the brother obviously knows how to dispose of bodies and clean up a crime scene. Not just from being in the army I wonder 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes I got that but dad and uncle wouldn't have known that and yet they bumped. A dead body down the steps in the hall 😂

where did they park their car and seem weird
no other cameras on at all apart from the one outside

Maybe Sadie knew wouldn’t be any but a huge risk

Just finished the last episode on ITVx.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Had to suspend belief in some places, there is plot twist, but I found it to be entertaining and thought-provoking.
I am a huge fan of a show called ‘Keeping Faith’ set in Wales and a lot of the cast popped up here, and it was great to see them again.
While this was a drama and not a documentary I think it was good at highlighting the issue of county lines.
Martin’s accent might be a leap but he’s a fine, fine actor.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2025 19:55

I love keeping faith. Thought recognises the police lady but couldn’t think where from
