The six-part series on for 3 weeks every Sunday and Monday at 9pm

will star Martin Clunes as a farmer confronted with dark forces that begin seeping into his rural community, as per the log line.

Clunes plays Nathan Williams, a man grieving the death of his wife two years prior.

Now a single parent, Nathan finds himself embarking on a mission to protect his family, homestead and legacy when his son and livelihood are threatened by local county lines drug dealers.

He’s missed all the clues that the country idyll around him has been fatally compromised, contaminated by waves of criminality spreading and mutating virus-like from the city.

"Now Nathan must accept that the rustic atmosphere of his childhood is long gone, replaced by something altogether more edgy and perilous.

And the only way for Nathan, our hero, to survive in this brave new world is to learn the rules and fight back.

The series will also feature Louis Ashbourne Serkis as Johnny, Mark Lewis Jones as Caleb Williams, Natalia Kostrzewa as Eva, Carly-Sophia Davies as Sadie and Gerran Howell as Rhys.

Out There” is the slang used by urban drug dealers to describe a “countryside” they hardly know and yet greedily exploit through County Lines.

Welsh farmer, NATHAN will stop at nothing to protect his son and farm. Nathan’s son, JOHNNY has reconnected with an old friend, RHYS, now a local drug dealer.

Rhys manages to trick Johnny into running drugs for him.

On learning part of this, Nathan tries to sort things out for Johnny the best way he knows how: by threatening Rhys and trying to pay off the debt without involving the police.

County lines is a particularly vicious and ruthless wave of drug dealing that uses fear and violence to coerce, often vulnerable, young people into working as runners and dealers,"

Yes, you're normally easily pleased Blondes!

Bit ridiculous.. local plod staking out the local hotel (or whatever it was) by herself with a tiny camera... but totally shrugs at a drone flying (and probably filming) over other peoples property.

Tigresswoods · 19/01/2025 22:11

It's not just me then? That was slow. Why would I bother with part 2?

GrandTheftWalrus · 19/01/2025 22:16

I'm.trying part 2 to see if it gets better.

Glad it’s not just me who found it dull. It’s the first time I’ve not liked something MC is in. He’s so versatile, but this isn’t doing it.

PrincessScarlett · 19/01/2025 22:44

Yes agree that it's a little slow and everyone seems dodgy. We're all too suspicious 🤣

I reckon Ava the cleaner deliberately took the package so Johnny is in debt to the gang. There's always a trick to trap them.

I know the team behind it worked closely with county lines experts. All the signs are there. Rhys and Sadie having no father at home and mum in and out of hospital makes them targets. Johnny losing his mum and sister moving away plus the teacher noticing a change in his behaviour makes him vulnerable and a target.

I'm interested to see how this plays out.

Reckon the local plod knows there's dodgy dealings going on and is keeping watch on the comings and goings. She looked surprised when Johnny turned up as he's meant to be a nice boy.

GrandTheftWalrus · 19/01/2025 23:01

It gets better on ep2. I'd stick with it.

GrandTheftWalrus · 20/01/2025 01:11

I'm on ep 4 now. No spoilers but keep with it. It get so much better from 2 onwards.

the80sweregreat · 20/01/2025 06:00

It wasn't just dull , it was a miserable Sunday evening drama that reminded me I have work tomorrow:(
I did like the son in it though as he seems a good little actor.

Clawdy · 20/01/2025 08:51

Getting sick of drug storylines. And young actors getting parts because of their names. DD and her partner are actors and struggle to find work at times. Another actor they know said jokingly " Maybe we should change our names to something like Dench or Cumberbatch! At least we might get an audition! "

They've had tiny parts in Coronation Street, and The Bay, and one or two adverts. It's not easy!

GrandTheftWalrus · 20/01/2025 12:14

It's still a bit slow at the start but it does get better.

the80sweregreat · 20/01/2025 12:35

His bank manager was good!
I can remember those days
Maybe it's a bit different for land owners/ farmers though ?
