So many women pregnant, is there something in the water?
Wonder if they'll have a son or a daughter?
Joel's story lingers on, that's really too bad.
And now we have to put up with his mum and his dad.

Lauren's gonna do time, I wonder how long.
I guess she deserves it as she has done wrong.
Gail's gonna leave soon, after 50 whole years.
It'll be such a shame, there will many tears!

Bethany's putting on a brave face, though she's had a tough ride.
Daniel's still boring, and Kit's always snide.
Daisy's always got a snooty little pout.
And looks like she might just knock someone out..

Toyah and Nick have been secretly smooching.
Leanne knows all about it though, as she's always mooching.
Debbie's so funny, and Eileen's so droll
And Roy, a real favourite, is one of the best characters of all

Carla and Swain are getting quite close.
Not such a secret now, and nearly everyone knows.
Mason the baddie has gone quite good.
And Betsy always acts like she's Queen of the Hood!

Not much more to review for now.
But it's happy new year to us all.
I wonder how the Corrie cast will celebrate?
I bet they will have a ball. Grin

Happy new year everyone. Have a cracking 2025! 😄

David's hair was the only interesting thing about last night's episode.

I did chuckle at Bernie's mention of Oops a Daisy 🤣🤣

CellophaneFlower · 28/01/2025 10:01

Oh and Gemma's face when Dev announced she could call him daddy 🤣

Claire Sweeney is doing a great job as Cassie. Very convincing. A horrible character but I really like the scenes she's in.

She is very good.

It is also worth remembering that Cassie is about the same age as Peter and thus Susan if she had lived. I get the impression that Ken in his advanced years misses having a daughter to look after him, especially as his step daughter has no interest in the role. It is easy to see how Cassie has stepped in.

He only does grannies. Wayne Rooney reference not implied 🙈

Even grannies have standards.

Touché 😂

CellophaneFlower · 28/01/2025 10:15

Just to add though, it's the person who cut David's hair (originally) they need to avoid. Maria? Audrey? 🤔

Shellingbynight · 28/01/2025 10:23

@zanahoria

But Ken doesn't actually need 'looking after', as he acknowledged himself when he sacked Cassie months ago. The only reason he now needs a carer is because Cassie is sedating him! Other than that he was doing fine with his family who provided companionship and did his shopping and cooking, which is all he needs.

TheodoraCrumpet · 28/01/2025 10:32

Ken is in better nick than I am, and I'm nearer to Peter's age than his. Apart from the convenience factor, he seems an odd choice of victim. There must be better off, sicker old men without family hanging around the house and reading his statements to pick on.
If only Kenny's bank were as on the ball with checking out unusual purchases as they evidently are at posting statements.

I don't think she initially set out to rip him off though.

It's ridiculous that she's already looking for other stuff to buy. They're not going to suddenly start trusting her now, surely? Even if they really are all stupid (and surely not Adam) surely she wouldn't be brazen enough to use his card again so soon 🙄

Housewife2010 · 28/01/2025 11:19

It was Tracey's birthday last Friday. Wouldn't Ken have given her her present then? Or have apologised for it being late? Surely they would think it odd for him to spend £200 on something that she hadn't asked for/he didn't know whether she needed.

MonickerMonica · 28/01/2025 12:06

Not sure if Cassie could find another old person to fleece. Her arrangement with Ken is just a private one isn't it? She's not a registered or trained carer. What is her official form of income? Or is that not mentioned on Corrie?

I just thought of Rita. Wealthy(ish) woman but she's rarely seen these days 😕

Lorrymum · 28/01/2025 12:12

I sometimes think they should issue a warning before each episode.
"Viewers may find some scenes extremely annoying" 😀

Roryno · 28/01/2025 12:12

I don’t remember Shona being grabbed, it just went to her shouting to get out. No idea how she got out either!

I didn’t like Max at all, but have liked his role with Lauren. I don’t think the cockiness and strange voice are there at the moment. I’d like to see them have a happy life from now on, but they might have to do a cobbles taxi ride and go and live in London to get away from Josh’s parents and any other gangsters lurking around.
(nobody would ever get a taxi when the tram stops in the next street. Street cars would’ve gone under by now!)

eggandonion · 28/01/2025 12:31

I thought I had missed the start.

CellophaneFlower · 28/01/2025 12:33

It never showed her getting snatched, just a van coming up behind her. Later on we saw a smashed phone in the road where she'd been.

SabreIsMyFave · 28/01/2025 13:29

Well, last night's episode was a little bit over the top, again, with a flipping kidnapping/abduction. I wish they would just go back to the old fashioned funny storylines, and maybe some drama. and very occasional traumatic storyline... And stop all this cross between The Bill and Eastenders shite.

I actually really don't like Cassie, and I'm so sick to death of her calling Ken Kenny! 'Kenny Kenny!' ARGH! It's driving me mad!

Also dislike Max's voice!

Regarding. Leanne, I'm not a massive fan of hers, but I'm genuinely starting to feel sorry for her now. She's actually lost everything...

She was hoodwinked and gaslighted into the institute because they played on her grief after her son died. She inadvertently pushed Nick away, as she was so into 'The Institute!' And she has lost her sister too, after her partner (Nick) started an affair with her behind her back. They have both been gaslighting her, and cheating on her and lying to her. Yes she set them up, and that was bad, but she was angry and hurt. Who wouldn't be?

So she's lost them as well as her son. AND she has just found out her dad (Les) has died in a work related accident. She's also lost her job at the bistro - and of course, she's been in court, and has now got criminal record and has to do community service. And now she's on the cusp of losing Sam as well ... And of course, she lost Simon and Peter too. She was quite close to them as well. Even Janice her stepmum hasn't showed her face for many years!

She's lost just about everything really. I do actually feel really sorry for her. I'm not gonna lie.

I think Max's voice is the actors proper voice .

He won an award soon after he started...best newcomer or something...and when he did his thank you speech ...I was shocked at how "Max " like he sounded !

Tracy as usual has some fantastic lines 😃!

Ken : (dizzy spell) ...ohh ...I think I just stood up to quick...

Tracy : ...(Wonderful expression) ...well I would hate to see how you do it to slow ..

Words to that effect !
It did make me laugh out loud 🤣.

Fair point but I would still avoid a hairdresser who lets their hair get into that bouffant rats nest state.

Edited

I think he was desperately trying to cover up that his hair is thinning, misguidedly thinking that longer hair covers this.

Less is definitely more in these situations! His hair looks far thicker now there's no fluffy halo.

Deadringer · 28/01/2025 13:47

Cassie is too clever to just steal from Ken. I reckon there will be more incidences of odd purchases and things going astray while Ken gets ever more sleepy and frail. He will become increasingly reliant on Cassie and such will be her devotion that she will be above suspicion, at which time she will go after the big prize, his 50k. I think it's actually one of the more believable stories of late. And yes thank God for David's haircut, it's taken 10 years off him.

Shellingbynight · 28/01/2025 13:59

Cassie has been planning to con Kenny for ages, her eyes lit up back when he had the premium bond win. I expect she now sees other 'opportunities' as well as that.

I’m sure we are supposed to feel sorry for Leanne, but I don’t. She has been unrelentingly horrible for so long. She was unbearable with the Institute nonsense, Nick should have thrown her out much earlier. She was awful to him, and to Toyah when she had cancer. And that’s without any of the ‘revenge’ plot. And worse than all of that, nothing is ever Leanne’s fault, she refuses to accept responsibility for her actions.

I hope at some point Nick and Toyah are going to have some kind of relationship that does not revolve around Leanne spitting tacks at them, doesn't look hopeful though!

zanahoria · 28/01/2025 14:08

It is bit much that Toyah has got together with both of Leanne's husbands.

It is Sam I feel sorry for although corrie kids have to get used to rotating step parents.

CellophaneFlower · 28/01/2025 14:09

I can't feel sorry for Leanne either.

There surely comes a time after losing so many people (not including Oliver in this of course) that you start to realise you must take some responsibility for it?

You're either incredibly unfortunate, making very poor decisions constantly or just not a very nice person.

He has had a transplant. I am guessing more than one with the most recent one being more successful.

Now, it is only Gemma's ridiculous wig that annoys me. I keep wondering who she is.
