So many women pregnant, is there something in the water?
Wonder if they'll have a son or a daughter?
Joel's story lingers on, that's really too bad.
And now we have to put up with his mum and his dad.

Lauren's gonna do time, I wonder how long.
I guess she deserves it as she has done wrong.
Gail's gonna leave soon, after 50 whole years.
It'll be such a shame, there will many tears!

Bethany's putting on a brave face, though she's had a tough ride.
Daniel's still boring, and Kit's always snide.
Daisy's always got a snooty little pout.
And looks like she might just knock someone out..

Toyah and Nick have been secretly smooching.
Leanne knows all about it though, as she's always mooching.
Debbie's so funny, and Eileen's so droll
And Roy, a real favourite, is one of the best characters of all

Carla and Swain are getting quite close.
Not such a secret now, and nearly everyone knows.
Mason the baddie has gone quite good.
And Betsy always acts like she's Queen of the Hood!

Not much more to review for now.
But it's happy new year to us all.
I wonder how the Corrie cast will celebrate?
I bet they will have a ball. Grin

Happy new year everyone. Have a cracking 2025! 😄

I'm oddly unmoved. I didn't see that particular spoiler so didn't know what was going to happen, but to me it feels unearned because I didn't really care about Mason. But worse than that, now we have yet more Swain, yet more Betsy, yet more scenes at the police station. I'll give it a miss for a while.

strugglingwithlife · 06/01/2025 21:29

I absolutely sobbed. I was also thinking surely Asha wouldn't be qualified this quickly. Or that she would be the one to tell Betsy and Abbie.
Also, Mason's brothers, absolutely vile 😡

MichaelAndEagle · 06/01/2025 21:29

I thought that was great. Except Besty, I don't think she's that good an actress yet unfortunately.
Dylan's going to be in bother isn't he.
I liked the way Abi was involved.

eggandonion · 06/01/2025 21:33

I liked the new Mason. I used to work with young ex offenders.
Unfortunately it's more Betsy and Swain weeping and arresting.

familyissues12345 · 06/01/2025 21:44

Asha was definitely wearing a student paramedic badge on her jacket, but pp are right, there's no way she would have been given the job of telling Abi and wailer that he's died, surely?!!

MissDeborah · 06/01/2025 22:31

Oh I'm so sad
Had hoped he would be defibbed at the end and it was a dream, the monitor would be in sinus rhythm -everyone talking about his death, Tim and Sally was his mind

MichaelandKirk · 06/01/2025 22:42

Don’t like Dylan and his dipsy Dad. Dylan lied again to save his own skin. Presumably when it comes out he will say he was scared. Thought Mason actor was great. Cannot stand Betsy and her drama larma Mum.

HaddyAbrams · 06/01/2025 22:50

I am sobbing here. Proper ugly crying. Abi actress really pulls it out the bag when something awful happens.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/01/2025 23:18

Well that was heavy.

So I’m guessing Mason was hallucinating him and Betsy making up.

I interpreted it as showing how things would have turned out if a knife hadn't been involved.

Great episode, didn't think I'd ever feel sad about Mason!

Clawdy · 06/01/2025 23:29

Well written and well acted for once. What an excellent actor Mason is.

eggandonion · 06/01/2025 23:29

A sliding doors thing. I don't think I needed that. Too many murders.

SabreIsMyFave · 06/01/2025 23:41

That was an excellent episode. Actually cried. I was starting to like the new improved Mason. Hope this lad gets more acting work. He is a good actor!

So, from when Mason was talking to Betsy in the playground to when Abi found him (stabbed) was that all a dream sequence (as Mason had already been stabbed in the playground?) And what was Dylan hiding in the vent in the wall?

OP posts:
HesterLee · 06/01/2025 23:51

Dylan had hidden the knife he had ages ago (when Mason was bullying Liam)

AnSionnachGlic · 07/01/2025 00:03

Thought tonight's episode was great too....very emotional. I think Dylan will be set up by the brothers as his fingerprints will be all over the knife. Also he didn't say that he saw the knife when he gave his report to police. Maybe he will be implicated with murder now?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/01/2025 00:11

So when Mason was talking to Dylan about carrying the knife (I can’t remember exactly what was said) and Dylan burst into tears was that a dream/hallucination.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 07/01/2025 01:20

That's more like it Corrie, gritty, moving, sad, well acted, poignant. Agree Tim's monologue was very similar to Gail when Aiden died.

JMSA · 07/01/2025 01:20

Aww, I didn't see that one coming. It was actually really, really sad. I liked Mason in the end.

I wonder if Betsy will be pregnant with his baby. I'm probably overdramatising now!

Oh for sure she’s pregnant, with a Mason-ette…

HurdyGurdy19 · 07/01/2025 06:42

I thought it was a powerful episode, and well thought out.

"I want my mum" pushed me over the edge and I was a blubbering mess from that point.

I am really sad that Mason was written out as I thought he had great potential as a character.

Agree with the pp who said that the message isn't likely to be seen by the people who are going to be caught up in knife crime, but hopefully it will start conversations in homes.

I really hoped they would have been able to save him at the hospital, but they showed what is the reality for too many families.

Freysimo · 07/01/2025 07:54

Cottonheadedninhymuggins · 06/01/2025 20:13

I know what’s coming but it seems reallly badly pieced together. How did we end up having lunch at Sally’s house to somewhere else with Dylan.

I agree, continuity was shocking and why were Christmas decorations still up and wreaths for sale at Dev's shop? Unlike most posters on here, I think it was all badly done.

missod · 07/01/2025 08:00

I didn't understand the timelines at all, which ruined it for me.

Plus, Betsy's crying was the stuff of nightmares.

Shellingbynight · 07/01/2025 08:33

If it had been a teen we knew and cared about it would have worked a lot better (for me at least). Corrie keep bringing in new characters with no link to the Street, giving then huge storylines, and expecting me to care what happens to them. Mason's entire storyline revolved around violence (him bullying, or being beaten up) so I was switched off to it from the start. There have been young characters brought in that I thought had potential and was sorry to see leave, but Mason isn't one of them.
