BBC1 9:40 pm. Who’s watching?!

Just watching this now. Around 20 minutes in. Never really watched it before - just caught the odd episode here and there. I love all the 1970s decorations!

It's not massively funny, but I'll keep it on, as it's OK, and it's Christmassy.

Prostrate cancer isn't Christmassy imho

eastereggg · 26/12/2024 22:19

Crap. So disappointing. Why are they doing it in November, hardly feels Christmassy?!

Why didn't they bring it back with all the kids having had children? At least then they could have reignited some of that comedy that they used to with the children being mainly unscripted.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 26/12/2024 22:21

It's ok...

SabreIsMyFave · 26/12/2024 22:24

The blonde woman - who came back after staying 9 months - is a bad actress.

StuffedFullOfFromage · 26/12/2024 22:24

Pleasant to have on in the background, but dull IMO. Very disappointing. Had no energy to it at all. In fact quite depressing.

What a disappointment.

Inlimboin50s · 26/12/2024 22:24

It started off pretty well I thought but the last half wasn't great.

Firestorms · 26/12/2024 22:25

That was disappointing which is a real shame as the original series were so good.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/12/2024 22:25

didnt enjoy at all- didn’t work. The mum seemed different in character.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 26/12/2024 22:26

I wondered if the adults were acting badly so they didn’t outshine the ‘children’. The thing with the kids is that they weren’t really actors in the first place I guess.

Bellavida99 · 26/12/2024 22:26

Absolute boring rubbish. Embarrassing for them really. And no ending or anything. Who on earth commissioned that

Whoarethoseguys · 26/12/2024 22:29

Rafting2022 · 26/12/2024 20:25

I think it’s had its day and best left in the past - it only worked when the kids were little.

I don't agree. I thought tonight's episode was great. I loved it. I also loved how the children were the same but grown up and they all seemed very natural still

MooseBreath · 26/12/2024 22:30

It was ok. The magic of Outnumbered was lost when the kids got older, so I'm not surprised much of the humour was gone. I agree with a PP that it would've worked better had they brought in a few more grandchildren and played off the improv aspect again.

FamilyPhoto · 26/12/2024 22:30

Not impressed.

Yes I liked the decorations

It was ok but a bit underwhelming

SabreIsMyFave · 26/12/2024 22:31

Nah, I'm 30 minutes in and I'm bailing.

It's crap.

CheerfulBunny · 26/12/2024 22:31

Is it still billed as a 'comedy' ???

WTFWilma · 26/12/2024 22:31

Oh no. That was weirdly unbalanced. Hugh Dennis actually looked ill, which made it impossible to find anything funny - if there had been any good jokes, which there weren't. The only time I even cracked a smile was when he started throwing the boxes over the fence.

Feel quite odd now. Confused

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 26/12/2024 22:31

I think comedy is escapism so I'm not sure why cancer is creeping into all comedy and death??

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 26/12/2024 22:31

Forgot about it then switched it on to discover a convo about possible cancer. Switched right back off. Not expecting to see next Christmas due to cancer so not something I need to watch.

whiteboardking · 26/12/2024 22:32

No real story - Wierd

FancyNewt · 26/12/2024 22:33

The cancer theme was a downer, the storyline was flat and the acting was mostly crap. What a shame.

I suppose it’s to make people think and get themselves checked but for me who has cancer, I struggle with it and not festive comedy in my eyes

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 26/12/2024 22:34

Oh so comedy is now east enders public information broadcast. With alcohol issues and sex attacks.

sweetydahling · 26/12/2024 22:35

It was okay.

Was Jane a new character for this episode? I haven't watched the series in yonks.

Hedgerow2 · 26/12/2024 22:35

Never seemed to get going. Far too forced and just not funny. None of the 'kids' can act.
