Yes! It's Musicals Week!

Will we also see an Egregious Elimination?

OP posts:
cuddlebear · 01/12/2024 20:37

I love Pete but think Chris should and will win.

I'm sure they must ask them their preferences for songs etc in advance. But the 'surprise' is when it's confirmed.

I'm sure for the many, many theme weeks they ask the celebs about their favourite musical/film/sit com. episode etc and try to suggest something that will please the celeb and fit the theme they probably give a couple of suggestions for some people so it could have been choosing her favourite musical rather than something she hasn't seen/doesn't know.

Major snooze-fest.😴

Yep agree it was tedious 😳

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/12/2024 20:39

I want Chris to win but I now wouldn't mind if JB wins, partly because of Lauren!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/12/2024 20:41

Sour grapes?

Strange.

I don't begrudge Pete at all actually

GrouchyKiwi · 01/12/2024 20:41

I'm watching all of AJ & Kai's dances. Nothing this year has been as good as most of their dances.

334bu · 01/12/2024 20:42

Sorry Hatey but wouldn't encourage me to part with good money to go and see Hamilton.

No, I thought it seemed very dull.
Maybe the rest of it is better?

musicalfrog · 01/12/2024 20:45

ThePoshUns · 01/12/2024 20:17

I agree unless you're a professional it's a dull dance to watch.

Not dull if there is real chemistry between the dancers.

MainStreetOrHighStreet · 01/12/2024 20:46

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/12/2024 20:11

Average voter on here uses the 3 free votes online. These are people making 100s of calls each week

How do we know this? And how do we know they don’t watch the show?

Mymanyellow · 01/12/2024 20:48

AJ and Kai’s Charleston is one of my favourite all time dances on strictly.
I don’t mind Sarah, love Vito. But I think Chris will win. Or JB is looking good.

TennisWithDeborah · 01/12/2024 20:35

Yeah, I’m not sure I believe the “block voting” thing tbh. I can see Pete’s appeal although I didn’t vote for him. I believe that many viewers may be chucking him two or three of their three votes, which is fine. I wasn’t surprised to see Tasha in the DO tbh because I think that many viewers find her insipid and lacking in chemistry with her partner, and others find her presence in SCD unfair. Montell has been unpopular for a few weeks and had a famously hard dance, so again it wasn’t a surprise to see her in the DO. I wasn’t shocked by the events of this evening at all and I don’t sense any voting skullduggery although if there’s evidence to the contrary that is picked up by the team that verifies the vote, fair enough.

I find it hard to believe there are enough (presumably) woman voting for him because they think he is good looking/sexy or whatever.

He must be getting a ton of votes to be at the bottom of the leader board but not in the dance off.

Runningupthecurtains · 01/12/2024 20:51

I love a musical and I have studied US history so Hamilton should be right up my alley but rap isn't my thing. If it was practically any other music style I would have been all over a it but rap no thanks.

musicalfrog · 01/12/2024 20:45

Talking about the rumba btw.

Surely someone can remember a decent rumba in the Strictly vaults??

I don't mean Shirley doing hers either, we've seen that one before.

FagsMagsandBags · 01/12/2024 20:52

I don't think JB will win but if it was a pretty much the best dancer and absolutely the most fun to watch in a great partnership competition then he would win. Then again, Chris has the second half of that going and at moments is so astonishingly good - Blackpool, most of last night - that he has a bit of the first half. I would absolutely love it if we had tie for winner this year between Chris and JB. They've both brought me the most pleasure this year.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/12/2024 20:53

@MainStreetOrHighStreet

It's been claimed on here many times, and judging by his against the odds success I think it must be true. His best mate who won I'm A Celeb last year made some claim to that effect. Can't find a source beyond Anonymous Internet Commentary though.

think it will be chris

Please let this be true!

Don't kids watch gladiators? I'm surprised that Montell isn't better known just for that

We watched a few episodes cos DH and I remembered the original, and we all love Ninja Warrier and similar shows.
It was awful, mainly because of Bradley Walsh and his talentless son, but also because none of the Gladiators had any charisma or likability.
That won't have helped Montell.
Hopefully, Tasha will go next week.

Kelvin and Oti? Danny Mac and Oti? Probably others that I've forgotten too!

I agree, I remember watching Rachel
Stevens doing the Rhumba and she (and Vincent) looked like they were about to start ripping each other’s clothes off! If done well I think it’s beautiful, raw, slow and really shows whether the pairing trust each other.

dollybird · 01/12/2024 20:57

cuddlebear · 01/12/2024 19:40

I just think some posters see Strictly as a “who is the best dancer” competition. Others, like me, view it as “whose dancing has entertained me the most.”

They are slightly different things.

And only one of Pete's dances has been entertaining IMO.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 01/12/2024 20:57

James Jordan did a good rumba!

Mine too.
It was a Charleston master class, with proper Charlestony music to boot!
Still cannot believe they didn't get 40.
It was frikkin Fab U Lous.

It was on during Covid, I watched it online, I found it v dull. Maybe it's better in real life but I really didn't get the hype.

FagsMagsandBags · 01/12/2024 21:00

I missed the show. I missed the beginning of Acorn Antiques as well which was more of a "NOOO!" for me. I knew the result though and wasn't keen on Pete being "surprised" he'd got through again when in terms of everything except the public he should have been in the dance off given he's been the worst dancer for weeks now.

Also, I love Montell and I'm sad to see her go. There's been so much "the public are showing what they think about non-dancers compared to dancers in their voting." Well, they're not really are they? If they were then Montell, the best of all the non-dancers and the one we've seen improve and give really good performances nearly every week, would not have been in the dance off four times in a row until she eventually came up against someone better than her, not hard after being in the death slot with a death dance. The public are voting for Chris because he's got a great personality and has danced above and beyond what any of us thought he would be able to do. He's a feel good contestant and I doubt anyone will begrudge him winning the series. There seem to be various reasons for voting for Pete, one of which, as we can see from these threads, is his looks. So, it's his looks, the fact that he's apparently humble and not boring. Of that the only thing I can actually see as being true is that he's a good looking man. He's not my type, too grubby looking and neck tattoos alongside a beard that looks like it's been drawn on with a felt tip doesn't do it for me. Do I begrudge him still being in the show? Am I sour-faced? Abso-bloody-lutely! I know that will make some people smirk in delight. Have at it.
