If professional level training/ experience in one style of dance has no bearing on being able to swiftly and (much more easily than someone without that that level of training) effectively pick up different styles why are the Strictly Pros Expected to dance none Latin/Ballroom in CC, opening numbers etc?

And indeed salsa, AT, Charleston, all of which are foreign to Ballroom/Latin pros.

Karen Clifton and Janette, with no formal ballroom training were expected to dance and indeed teach foxtrot and waltz straight out of the block (presumably with help from their DPs behind the scenes).

... and most of the time, neither of them got anywhere near the final. Don't get me wrong, they are great dancers, but they are not ballroom and Latin experts which most of Strictly dances are.

Catching up after being out last night.

Loved Chris’s quickstep and JB’s Viennese waltz, and rewatched them both.

Didn’t make it to the end of Tash’s AT as I found it boring.

I got really drawn into Pete’s waltz even though he made mistakes, but that might have been because the song is so beautiful.

Sarah - too many lifts not enough dancing. That’s not her fault as she didn’t choreograph it. And she did well to cope with all those lifts.

Montell - she seemed to dance it well but I didn’t particularly like the choreography. Rumba and samba both seem to be “exit” dances.

Strange last night imo, no one wowed me, and usually someone has by now.
At a push JB and Tasha are probably the closest..

Exactly - which to me says there is an expectation that if you dance to a certain standard picking up new styles within a tight time frame isn't too challenging.

I have a friend who can play several musical instruments - he says learning new ones is much easier than learning the first one because he can read music, understand the theory etc so 'all' he has to do to learn a new instrument is learn how to make it make the notes/ chords required. My year of huffing down a recorder 45 years ago at primary school wouldn't help me learn an instrument today but his grade 8 in piano does.

Tasha is a great dancer and seems like a really lovely person, but I just feel no connection to her at all, and there is zero chemistry with her and Alijaz.

I won’t comment on Tashas dance as she shouldn’t be there.

I loved Pete’s waltz, despite the mistakes. Chris did brilliantly. Diane must be a total genius.

JB was good. Montell bores me. Sarah was too aerial gymnastics.

I'm mentally preparing myself for bleddy Pete getting through.
