KEEP DANCING

@LaBelleSauvage123 we can have four couples in this year's final so JB, Sarah and Tash could all be there along with Chris.

I'd love JB and Montell but I have about two hopes of that.

Re Mojo. I find it surprising that people are finding them dull and finding Jojo underwhelming this year. I think they're a fabulous partnership and seem to bring out so much joy in each other. I've enjoyed the majority of her dances and even when I've not been overwhelmed I've known that we're in safe hands with their dances because she's good and her errors will be few and far between. I had no idea who she was before the show started and I love how much she's made me fall a little in love with her.

I feel bad for Jamie. I wasn't a fan but he was a nice lad and a better dancer than both Chris and Pete. Chris's popularity is understandable. Even when he's not good I'm amazed at how much he can do whilst blind. When he's incredibly good - last week in Blackpool - I'm blown away. I'm not a Chris voter but I can understand why he's getting the most public votes because it's a joy to watch how far he can go. I'm hoping for at least one more good dance before the final. Has he had a Charleston yet? I think he could give us a good one.

I can't be arsed with talking about Pete but as he's mostly been about third behind Chris and Sarah and this week seems to have been below Tash and JB as well although that might be a bollocks given he was last and would need to be above a few more to be safe? Or would he? I managed decent maths yesterday so it's far too much to ask of me to do it twice in a row! Anyway. he has a good percentage but I'm not convinced that it's enough to get him to the final. I could, of course, be very, very wrong.

Speaking of Vito. Vito fans, he has a calendar out for 2025!

FagsMagsandBags · 25/11/2024 19:55

Oh gosh. I might have to get that. It all depends. If there's too much naked chest I'll pass.

There was a fair bit in the teaser he posted on Instagram 😂

FagsMagsandBags · 25/11/2024 23:31

I'm not surprised. I'm sure it's where the money is.

Musical night songs and routines are up

🎭Montell and Johannes Rumba to I'm Here from The Color Purple
🎭Sarah and Vito Charleston to Popular from Wicked
🎭Tasha and Aljaz Argentine Tango to Ex-Wives from SIX
🎭Chris and Dianne Quickstep to You’re The Top from Anything Goes
🎭JB and Lauren Viennese Waltz to Let’s Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins
🎭Pete and Jowita Waltz to Somewhere from West Side Story

dapsnotplimsolls · 26/11/2024 17:36

Oh. I fear for Montell! The others look good. Popular is quite slow for a Charleston?

TheShellBeach · 26/11/2024 17:39

Pete and Jowita Waltz to Somewhere from West Side Story

How? It's in 4/4 time!

They always manage to arrange the music so that it fits. They did with "I will always love you"

Rumba never scores highly, and thats what they need at this stage. They might be able to pull off a "lovely" rumba, but judges are looking for Wow! for a week 11 performance.

Waltz seems a bit dull too, and there's two of them this week.

AlexaSetATimer · 24/11/2024 22:57

Just seen photos of Kai and Katya on his fb account, wow she looks stunning.

A bit of a finger flick to Nadiya maybe? 🤔

I wondered if they were announcing themselves as a couple when I saw the photo.. the caption of something alone the lines of "week 10 delivering in every way" seemed a bit like they were hinting it was more than a friendly pic..

EsmaCannonball · 26/11/2024 18:41

I've never seen the musical version of The Colour Purple but I have read the book and, yep, that'll be cheery Saturday night family entertainment. Sort of thing that could have been a challenge on Bruce's Generation Game. Montell is stuffed.

xsquared · 26/11/2024 17:53

But why, when there are so many actual songs that would already fit without the faff.

It beats me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mymanyellow · 26/11/2024 19:19

That’s going to have to be a knockout rumba to score well enough not to be in the dance off.

GrouchyKiwi · 26/11/2024 19:24

Stitched up. A rumba AND a song from a musical no one knows. They'll be on second as well.

Mymanyellow · 26/11/2024 19:29

I didn’t even know the colour purple was a musical. Book and a film I know, bet I’m not alone either.

ilovesooty · 26/11/2024 19:44

Yes. They've stitched Montell up.

That’s going to have to be a knockout rumba to score well enough not to be in the dance off.

Even if she is at the top of the leaderboard, she can still end up in the dance off at this stage if she is the last in the public vote, if there are ties so that the person at the bottom gains an extra point and is also the most popular.

Alexandra Burke was top of the leaderboard on musicals week and still ended up in the dance off. Gemma Atkinson was joint bottom of the leaderboard at the time with Davood but managed to avoid the dance off.

I think Montell would have done better with something like a Charleston or Jive to something from Sister Act.

stockpilingallthecheese · 26/11/2024 20:06

There feels like there have been barely any jives - who out of the remaining contestants has actually done one?

xsquared · 26/11/2024 20:08

JB did the jive with Amy to Hey Yah!, and landed in the bottom 2
Chris did the jive in the first week.

That's 4 of the remaining couples who haven't done a jive. That's a shame. It's been a while since I've seen a jive that I've liked as much as Ore's, and that was back in 2016.

Wishfully thinking here, but maybe she could do it? Obviously if a great quickstep to Get Happy doesn't make the core Strictly voters pick up the phone for Montell then you'd say that nothing will.

But nobody has ever scored 40 for a rumba, and maybe if she manages that, which is a big narrative story, combined with a beautiful, albeit lesser known, song, a strong anti-Pete backlash and a lot of praise for her general pluck, grit and can-do attitude could get her through. I'd like to think so.

AlexaSetATimer · 26/11/2024 20:21

Agree. Think the producers have decided she doesn't have the fan base so time for the boot. Such a shame, I really like them as a partnership.

cathyandclaire · 26/11/2024 22:17

Agreed- I think all of them sound interesting except the rumba to the colour purple. I bet they go second too.

I think the Popular Charleston has the potential to be fab-u-lous.

xsquared · 26/11/2024 22:46

I think the Popular Charleston has the potential to be fab-u-lous.

It's usually top of the leaderboard type dance and I think Sarah can definitely pull this one off.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 27/11/2024 00:23

Thank you for the new thread. Thanks I've been watching more with family and being sociable with them, so being more unsociable on the threads.

I have a Christmas do on Saturday (where has the year gone?!) so will have to catch up later, which is a shame because I like the musicals week. Some nice ballroom too by the looks of things.

I was sorry Jamie went, I thought his dance was sweet and enjoyed it on the Saturday show. Montell had a good dance though, and I was surprised she was in the dance off. I think dancing her salsa she would have been knocked out, and I don't fancy her chances with this week's really. She's tall with a lot of long slim arm and leg, which could look lovely and graceful, or a bit uncoordinated in a rumba!

I think Cynthia Erivo might have been in The Colour Purple musical, but that's all I know about it.

Ex-wives for an Argentine Tango is weird, I don't think it's slinky enough, it's too pop.
