I think Jowita’s shocked face was 100% false. Both her and Pete know they are receiving more votes than Jamie and Montelle at least. Possibly the only other contestant receiving as many votes is Chris. This has been proven as Pete has been in the bottom 2 several times. And, correct me if I’m wrong, but he has never been top of the leader board, at least not in the weeks when it doesn’t secure you go through.
As for musicals week, you can’t give one or two couples relatively unknown musicals, it puts them at a severe disadvantage. Thats why Mary Poppins has been done before. At least we have been spared yet another Dirty Dancing lift.

I don't think so. Would that be Barnum?
M&M was the one with them both in gold and there was a slow bit where they kind of imitated a train, then just flew around the ice!
Just checked the date and it was 1982.
I was but a toddler...😉

I wasn't born yet. Grin

I shall see if I can find it on YouTube.

Have we ever been told what percentage of votes are the free ones on the website or the paid telephone or text ones?

I'm sure techy youngsters will know how to generate multiple BBC accounts using different emails/ proxy servers etc so getting more than 3 free votes.

Do! It still gives me goose pimples.

dollybird · 24/11/2024 21:38

Didn't Six do a performance at the platinum jubilee or coronation concert? Whichever, I thought it was rubbish.

We saw &Juliet recently, which was great, although not original songs. I am a Matt Cardle fan though ☺️

Runningupthecurtains · 24/11/2024 21:40

On the topic of pros leaving I realised recently the Diane is a good few years older than I thought. I wonder if she will depart this year - especially if Chris wins so she can go on a high.

Just watched it. AMAZING. It's like they were one person.

I'd love to see a dance to that on Strictly. It would make a fabulous quickstep or Charleston. Such characterful music.

The hat dance is, surprisingly enough, called Hat Trick. Grin

LaMarschallin · 24/11/2024 21:43

@GrouchyKiwi

"Hat Trick" doesn't ring a bell.
My turn to Google...

Very possibly, but I’m thinking of ordinary viewers like me, who wouldn’t want to spend lots of money on texts and calls as the “block voters” might.

Purplebunnie · 24/11/2024 20:38

I prefer people with no previous dance experience. Jamie went to Sylvia Young. Sarah went to Lanes and Tasha was a commercial dancer. JB will also have dance experience in JLS

I will be voting for those with no previous experience.

I didn’t know this! I love Tasha but this puts her at an unfair advantage.

Definitely Chris for me.

How do we get 3 free votes please?

How do we get 3 free votes please?

You need a BBC account (free, just need email address) and then you go to the Strictly homepage when voting is open.

Runningupthecurtains · 24/11/2024 21:49

How do we get 3 free votes please?

You can vote three times on the BBC website but you need to be registered.

LaMarschallin · 24/11/2024 21:51

@GrouchyKiwi
Thank you for the suggestion - loved it 😊
And there are so few new pleasures at my age <croak>

I’m by no means a youngster but i’m quite capable of setting up different emails and using VPNs. I just don’t believe Pete’s fan base is THAT invested. It’s not like getting Glastonbury tickets. People vote for Pete because they like/fancy him - a lot of people on here

I was suggesting that Pete's fan base were youngsters, not that only youngsters were able to generate multiple accounts. There is a belief among some on this thread that he is getting multiple votes from his followers even if the aren't watching - I think they are more likely to that for free than at the cost of multiple calls/texts to premium rate numbers.

I think their shocked and bemused faces are carefully contrived as well. They know they're getting massive numbers of votes.

QueenOfThorns · 24/11/2024 22:11

I vote for Pete and I’m ancient Grin

dapsnotplimsolls · 24/11/2024 22:13

I don't dislike Pete and I appreciate that he's trying but he's now outlasting noticeably better dancers.

I didn't know about Sarah and had been voting for her. I saw something so went and googled. I expect some actors to have had a little dancing but Lanes is more musical theatre

RememberRememberTheMonthofNovember · 24/11/2024 22:14

I don’t sign in to the BBC website, my iPad remembers me.

I suppose I could sign in and out every time with different emails. Presumably it won’t mind the same IP address as it could be different members of the same family who, I assume, are allowed their own votes.

I’d still like to know what percentage are “free” votes and which paid for.

LaMarschallin · 24/11/2024 22:15

Wasn't Tony Adams getting block votes from Arsenal fans?
I can't imagine a huge Venn diagram crossover between football fans and Strictly viewers (obviously there will be some).

For me the fact it was about 30 years ago makes a difference. Your mileage may vary.

Hedjwitch · 24/11/2024 22:16

Johannes is touring soon in Kinky Boots so perhaps his mind isn't on winning Strictly as much this year.

BogRollBOGOF · 24/11/2024 22:20

I'm not voting for Pete because his dancing isn't entertaining enough to override the talent factor. Crediting Jowita for the improvements he's made is fair. She's an interesting pro and she's done a good job of maximising potential out of some unlikely celebs (Hamza won me over quickly that year) His personality has grown on me each week though.

I've been voting for Montell because I like her style, her partnership and her journey. I'm glad she made it through the dance off and her dance quality and potential justify remaining in the competition.

I've been voting for Chris because I'm in awe of the way he's been learning to dance with the fairly fundamental adaption of not being able to see what the dances look like. His choreography has not been simplified down and stands up at the level of other contestants. Even on his tougher weeks, he's entertaining.

I tend to vote on the basis of who I'd like to continue in the next week and weighed up against who's more likely to end up in a DO.
