Sorry @JawsCushion just realised you might have meant why did Chesney put sugar in the van’s fuel tank. It screws up all the bits where petrol goes in an engine ( sum total of my mechanical knowledge)

No. I know it messes it up. I didn't know petrol tanks were locked. I just unscrew mine, unless you mean something under the bonnet.

But isn't your screw off plug/cap covered by a panel that has to be released from inside the car? I passed my test in 1986 and have never driven a car with a cap that was accessible when the car is locked.

JawsCushion · 18/12/2024 21:26

I'm talking about the bit I put the hose in to put petrol in the car. I just push the flap and it opens.

Edited

That's because your car is unlocked. Try pushing the flap with the car locked.

Sick of all the crime stuff. Sick of Carla and policewoman and their lack of chemistry. Sick of Frankie/Lauren/Max/Deedee.

The Leanne plotting against Toyah and Nick is more like old Corrie.

JewelleryCat · 18/12/2024 21:54

Yeah, I agree. Carla and Lisa have zero chemistry and I didn’t like what Lisa did in the bistro, all jealous and going into police mode then after in the flat where she basically forced Carla into telling people they’re together. Lisa has probably had years to come to terms with her sexuality, Carla’s only had a few weeks or so

eggandonion · 18/12/2024 22:07

I wish Carla would get rid of Lisa, and just pine for lovely Peter.
We should care about the awful deedee and Lauren and Frankie situation, but too much woe.
I don't trust that mum of Joel, she's up to no good.
Where are Billy and Summer? I'm starting to miss them.

MichaelAndEagle · 18/12/2024 22:32

Back to the cars, in real life in a terraced street like that it would be rammed with cars, and as those streets are usually quite narrow they would probably be parked two wheels up on the pavement as well.
You only ever see a car if someone's about to get in it.
Edit to say, by the way I agree no chemistry between Carla and Swain. That kiss on the neck was cringe!

Clawdy · 18/12/2024 22:41

So David asked the brothers to punch him, to make it look as if he was mugged?

JawsCushion · 18/12/2024 22:42

thenightsky · 18/12/2024 21:49

That's because your car is unlocked. Try pushing the flap with the car locked.

I'll try tomorrow. Every day is a school day!

Roryno · 18/12/2024 23:36

Even when my car is locked I reckon it would be easy to
prise it open. But it’s a banger. You probably couldn’t a decent car.

eggandonion · 19/12/2024 00:01

There was a car fire near us a few years ago...a Fiat uno? I The petrol cap didn't lock.
A new modern van would

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/12/2024 03:54

I only half watched, it was ridiculous.

Also that van is a diesel and sugar won't cause an instant engine seize in a diesel vehicle like it would in a petrol engine.

Presuming one can get it in there as PP mentioned, filler caps have been lockable for decades now so we must assume that the flap is broken... mm.

Myattention · 19/12/2024 06:40

I am beginning to wonder if we are watching the Bill instead of Corrie these days. The Mason brothers are about as intimidating as a bowl of soggy cornflakes. I stopped watching eastenders for less about 8/9 years ago. Watching Corrie is habit but the story/plots at the moment are dreadful. I can’t flow what happened to the money and frankly don’t care. I thought it had gone to Jesse but now it’s in a house deposit.

Where are Sally and Tim. Where are Abbey and Kev. What’s happened to Billy, Summer etc. they’ve not been seen in weeks.

Myattention · 19/12/2024 06:40

Oh and is it going to be the case that ches will take the 20K but that he will need to hand it over for the damage to the van. So dull.

eggandonion · 19/12/2024 07:46

Who is the van man?

Middlemarch123 · 19/12/2024 08:07

I haven’t watched last nights yet. Having caught up here, I don’t think I’ll bother!

Shellingbynight · 19/12/2024 08:23

Same here, I won't bother to catch up. The plot won't make whether I do or not.

GinaDreamsofRunningAway · 19/12/2024 08:28

Coronation Street is the worst its been in ages! Not one decent storyline!!! They are all totally ridiculous and I am very close to not even bothering to watch it over Christmas because I honestly couldn't give a toss about anything that is going on.

The writers have lost the plot!!!!

MrsGrimshaw · 19/12/2024 08:33

I have to keep watching to find out what's going on with Gemma's hair. If we're just meant to believe she's had a new hair cut and style and nothing else then that would be ridiculous. If it wasn't so dark it might be more realistic. To cover her real life new short crop they didn't have to give her that silly wig. ✂️

Lorrymum · 19/12/2024 08:45

I used to look forward to the Christmas episodes but I don't care now.
All the current storylines are long, drawn out and joyless. The eventual outcome of the Joel storyline was a cop out. After all most a year of more and more ridiculous and dark storyline he was just killed off. No real closure, trial etc lets just move on with a sick baby, ridiculous mini gangsters and Carla suddenly deciding she is a lesbian,
Utter tripe!!

Shellingbynight · 19/12/2024 08:51

That's a good way of putting it - drawn out and joyless. As well as nonsensical😆

I had been looking forward to the Gail exit and lots of Platt action, but what do we get? Nick being conned by Leanne, David being beaten up by mini gangsters and Shona shagging Kit, Gail hardly ever on screen.

Wishimaywishimight · 19/12/2024 09:02

@AmusedMaker @strugglingwithlife I know, would love it!

Why do they have to heap more misery upon poor Lauren. The actress must be sick to death of weeping. Once sick baby (Emmerdale) at a time is enough for the soaps.

I just can't get used to Gemma's hair, it looks so strange. Also, on the subject of Gemma and Ches, do they ever have a conversation that doesn't revolve around them being "skint"?

LaurenAction · 19/12/2024 09:49

Did anyone see Three Salons at the Seaside on BBC4 last night? I caught the tail end of it. It put me in mind of Corrie years ago, when they had plenty to say but didn't have to make every single scene so dramatic boring.
