This is our tenth anniversary of sharing our thoughts on Our Girl series one and have subsequently watched the other three series, followed by Soldier Soldier, The Musketeers, Spooks and Hustle so thought it was time to try something different. Please join us and share your thoughts if you have ever been a fan of Downton Abbey. We are currently on series one, episode three.

Thomas's cushy number doesn't seem as cushy as all that now, does it?

Not so good in the trenches.

Shocking moment there. A prime example of how life is a matter of chance and fate.

Blimey, Lord G reminds me of Blackadder "How do I look, Darling?" to which Darling replies "Girlbait, Sir! Sheer bloody girlbait!"

I'm not sure I recall these war episodes. I wonder if I switched off when it got gory.

Lord G learns that he hasn't got a proper job in the army at all. He's just a token soldier. That must be a bit galling.

Lord G gets a real smack in the teeth when he realises he's not going off to fight and that his position is purely honorary.

Carson puts Lord G straight on the Mr Bates situation.

I wonder how his Lordship feels about being called an old codger

Ethel has been wound up again about the electric plugs by O'Brien.

"checking for vapours!"

Ethel has really rubbed O'Brien up the wrong way, hasn't she?

Ethel needs to stop rubbing people up the wrong way and build some bridges.

Is this episode a bit longer than in the first series?

I think it was a longer one. Normally they last about 45 mins without the adverts.

Matthew finds Thomas and they have a bit of a chinwag about old times over a cuppa.

Thomas is obviously conjuring up an I jury to get home

So, Thomas is seeking a way to get out of the trenches. Can't say I blame him. Well, that is one way of doing it. At least he used his left hand....

Cloever or sneaky Thomas, whichever way you want to look at it.

Certainly a lot going on in that episode. Once again thoroughly glued to it. See you next week ladies

Yes, good episode. The scene is set for the next series now that we know what has happened to everyone since August 1914 and what will be driving the stories over the rest of the series.
