This is our tenth anniversary of sharing our thoughts on Our Girl series one and have subsequently watched the other three series, followed by Soldier Soldier, The Musketeers, Spooks and Hustle so thought it was time to try something different. Please join us and share your thoughts if you have ever been a fan of Downton Abbey. We are currently on series one, episode three.

0h they do give Maggie Smith the best lines

Rhubarb01 · 15/11/2024 21:40

What's up with Mrs Patmore?

Magi84 · 15/11/2024 21:41

I think it might be cataracts

Rhubarb01 · 15/11/2024 21:41

O'Brien fishing for gossip rather than fish.

Rhubarb01 · 15/11/2024 21:44

Gosh, a heart attack...Lady Mary does not know her own power.

Rhubarb01 · 15/11/2024 21:45

Ooh...that looks grim. He has been torturing himself.

Magi84 · 15/11/2024 21:46

Oh horrendous poor man

Well, I can understand her problem. That is why I was indisposed earlier in the week. A quicker cure than back in Downton times.

Ah, the ceremonial drowning of the limp corrector.

Ilovelblue · 15/11/2024 21:47

O'Brien is a nasty piece of work.

OP posts:

Mrs!Hughes has arranged a dramatic disposal of the limp corrector

Rhubarb01 · 15/11/2024 21:48

O'Brien and Thomas are scheming again. Always looking for an angle.

eejittwo · 15/11/2024 21:49

Downton is new to me, but I get the impression that I wouldn’t trust O’Brien an inch, and certainly not with a ‘secret’.

Magi84 · 15/11/2024 21:49

Well there we are another episode full of action and no mistake

Glad to hear all went well. My mum had her cataracts removed a few years ago and she said it improved quite quickly.

It certainly flies by.

I must admit to having seen a lot of repeats of Downton over the years. The infamous Mr Pamuk episode was quite shocking the first time of watching, but I just keep finding it funny now.

The procedure itself took 10 minutes (though there was a lot of hanging around beforehand). I can remember my grandma having them removed, I guess it would be 55 years ago, and she was in hospital for two whole weeks afterwards. How times have changed.

Cataract op was the best thing I ever did. Back in 2007 and have been good ever since. I remember exclaiming how bright yellow a banana was when I reached the kitchen after the op.

Not really noticed the colours being brighter as yet but my vision is still a bit blurred.

Rhubarb01 · 15/11/2024 22:00

Back for episode 4 next Wednesday everyone?

Ilovelblue · 15/11/2024 22:02

Yes, that's good for me.

I do know I won't be able to do 11 December - maybe we could agree on another day that week as it will be the last one in the series?

I can probably do any day that week, so happy to rearrange whatever suits.

eejittwo · 15/11/2024 22:26

Would Friday 13th work?

eejittwo · 15/11/2024 22:28

And yes - okay for next week.
Don’t know anything about cataracts, but glad all went well.😗
