This is our tenth anniversary of sharing our thoughts on Our Girl series one and have subsequently watched the other three series, followed by Soldier Soldier, The Musketeers, Spooks and Hustle so thought it was time to try something different. We had several inches on Sunday - and that came after such heavy rain on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Today has been sooooo cold and is predicted to be -7C tonight.

We've not had it anywhere near as bad as some but it's still been bad enough.

Matthew's life has changed so much since that last cricket match in August 1914. A different world indeed.

Oh do we have a new maid this series?

I believe the new maid is Ethel...watch this space! Meanwhile, his lordship wants to look suitably military. Men just love a uniform, don't they...mind you some ladies do too

Sybil has had some bad news I think.

Oh yes, we have enjoyed various of our heroes in uniform!

Lord G strikes me as if he's playing at being soldiers.

Imagine learning to drive a great big hulking beast of a car like that. I sympathise with Lady Edith. I bet it needs double declutching too!

Violet looks very impressive today.

I often wonder how young men (and women I suppose) would feel about enlisting these days. I honestly don't imagine there would be a queue. Maybe I'm wrong.

Ethel clearly rates herself.

Oh heck Matthew engaged. Bit sudden

Watch out for those damn foreigners, Carson... you know what happened with the Turkish gentleman turned up.

Meanwhile, Isabel lets us know what is happening with Matthew. Since he and Mary broke up, he's been keeping out the way and now they learn that he has become engaged to someone else

Lady Mary, you'll have to up your game now if you still have Matthew within your sights.

O'brien snooping as ever. What is she going to be ruining this series

"We can't be certain Matthew will come through it" - blimey talk about putting your foot in your mouth. Not a great thing to say your Lordship.

Sometimes the staff seem more snobbish than the Granthams.

O'Brien is stirring again and Cora is so gullible.
