Ali would have called him out on it whether she cared or not though, as she's very aware of what is going to look bad and is desperately trying to avoid career suicide. Why she even went in there in the first place is a total mystery to me. She acts like it wasn't a choice 🤷‍♀️

Maybe it wasn't her choice. We know many are asked to go in. Loads don't audition.

She wasn't forced though.Surely you would consider your career before you sign up. She can't control what the other housemates talk about.

Odd comment. Confused No-one goes into Big Brother (or onto any TV show) against their will!

Ali the hostage 🤣

AddictedToBooks · 03/11/2024 13:06

I really liked Dean at first but his temper tantrums began to annoy me. The killer for me was his pure vitriol aimed at Sarah and Marcello - there's being nasty for a task and there's being nasty because you want to be nasty.

I can't stand Emma - she's just so vulgar all of the time and her comments to Dean as he was leaving, were just really foul.

Exactly @JaneJeffer . It always baffles me when people say 'the edit' makes someone look bad. LOL, you can't edit anything IN. Dean and Ali have clearly been arseholes at some time or other, or they wouldn't have been able to show it.

Why are there not any 'bad edits' (for example) for Sarah, or Emma, or Khaled, that make them look like arseholes? There aren't any being shown - because there haven't behaved like arseholes, unlike Dean and Ali (and bloody Lily - the nightmare 'child!'

The other night during the vampires and villagers task was a really bad edit for Hanah, Lily, Nathan, BP and Sarah for barricading the door and not letting the vampires in to smoke. Hanah has had a couple of bad edits where she’s shown to think herself as some kind of queen of the world. Lily’s had several bad edits. Marcello and Khaled looked like a couple of nasty bullies after their spat with Ali over the red witch comments when they got in the hot tub and were blatantly smirking at her to make her feel uncomfortable. Even Segun looked bad over that one.

Then you get a weird edit, such as when they completely edited out Emma’s original choice of vampires, so had you not seen that on L&L you’d’ve had no idea she did it. That might have made her look a bit calculated. They’ve all had bad edits from time to time. None of them are angels.

’A bad edit’ does not mean ‘made someone act a certain way’. It just means a choice to show some of the shitty or nicer behaviour depending on what narrative is being pushed. BB has always tried to manipulate the viewers as well as the housemates. We’re part of this social experiment too.

CellophaneFlower · 03/11/2024 14:00

I think they just show the most controversial or entertaining parts, which is obviously what they have to do to create a watchable show. If some people are more controversial than others then yes, you'll see more of them.

I really don't think they edit in a way to show certain people in a better or worse light. Rather than favouring certain people, they just want as much drama as possible, regardless of who it comes from.

JaneJeffer · 03/11/2024 14:06

What I was trying to say is that they can only show stuff if it has been done. You can't say those people are awful for doing/saying something but the other people aren't because it's just a bad edit.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 03/11/2024 14:08

I don’t think anyone did say that.

DancingTurtle · 03/11/2024 14:09

I think it’s perfectly possible to give someone a good or bad edit. Charlie Brooker gave a good demonstration of this.

Did they not? Why are we talking about it so? Grin

THIS!

You are gaslighting yourself @ConstantlyFuriosa 😆

It's not a 'bad edit' when they show people being arseholes. They are literally just showing people what they're doing/showing them for what they are.

'It was a bad edit' is just a load of crap. 😆 You're deluded if you think showing the terrible behaviour of a few housemates is a 'bad edit!' 😂

No. I did not say that. You’ve completely misinterpreted/misunderstood what I wrote. And please don’t throw around a word like ‘gaslighting’ when you clearly don’t understand what it means.

As in "chest out and proud" ...
I think...

But then I'm in the same decade as Emma sooooo...🤷‍♀️

ConstantlyFuriosa · 03/11/2024 14:45

Cherrypicking a part of a post is in effect a ‘bad edit’ because there isn’t context. Looking at my post in its entirety you can see this right at the bottom:

’A bad edit’ does not mean ‘made someone act a certain way’. It just means a choice to show some of the shitty or nicer behaviour depending on what narrative is being pushed. BB has always tried to manipulate the viewers as well as the housemates. We’re part of this social experiment too.

which gives context to the cherrypicked comment and explains what I mean by ‘bad edit’. Ffs.

The very idea of Ali being there against her will!

To be fair, I do wonder why she decided to be a part of it.
As she reminded us all the other day (when all the vamps were in their lair, awaiting their next task) she did say something along the lines of
"I'm intelligent. I've got a career. I've got a PHD."

I do think she is proving something herself.

User12356 · 03/11/2024 14:56

Who knows why any of them are there? For fame, money?
I think it certainly is possible to give someone a bad or good edit and it does happen all the time. As someone said the audience are totally being manipulated here.
