She does seem very lovely.

MadisonAvenue · 14/11/2024 10:28

I started watching when it first began in March 2000, a few weeks before our youngest was born and our oldest had just turned 3. It was my go-to watch while afternoon naps were happening and, as time went on, before the school run.

Still a naice kitchen though!

It’s a beautiful kitchen isn’t it, and she always comes across as being really lovely.

I would imagine we'll see them pop up in all sorts of other things, Ruhma was in Eastenders, the actor who plays Rob was in a few things before Doctors, Jimmi was in either Holby or Casualty. I think Scarlett has a bright future ahead of her, and someone posted upthread that Luca/Bear have successful musical theatre careers.

It must be weird for the cast as for them, it was all over in March when they filmed the last ep.

Michelle’s recently been in a couple of Eastenders episodes too, wonder if she’ll be seen again as she’s the social worker in an ongoing storyline.

MadisonAvenue · 14/11/2024 10:39

I did see that Rob and his son (real life, not Jack) are taking over a pub kitchen with their own menu for a limited time, apparently he’s a very keen cook.

Dr Niamh running off with a patient abroad was a really far fetched story line 🤣 I'm still a bit sad she and Al didn't get a happy ending.

Yesterday episodes was particularly potent especially with Timmy West appearing. I found the recent Mac episodes really moving too

Loved George and Ronnie! That's a blast from the past!

George and Ronnie are among my favourites!
Loved Niamh too and really wanted her and Al to be together forever.
Jo the first receptionist was fab too.

martinisforeveryone · 14/11/2024 10:50

Missed the Zara interview.

The day has come 😠

I will hold a grudge forever that they never concluded the storyline of the attack on Al.

I also think there'll always be work for Chris Walker as a policeman 😀

Small interview with him here Doctors star Chris Walker "guessed" BBC show was being axed

Rob Hollins actor didn't "have a good feeling" about soap's future.

Raahh · 14/11/2024 11:22

There are so many storylines over the years that stick with me.
Donna was always one of my favourite receptionists- I didn't really like how they got rid of her, she was very ditzy and it seemed a bit out of character. Though not, I guess she was sticking up for her son. But she risked her job. But completely changing characters is a very Doctors thing to do to people. Gobby's accident and her change from a 'comedy' character to pretty annoying and miserable was not welcome though- but their constant house moves were funnyGrin.(She wanted a conservatory!)

I never liked Val (as long term posters on this thread will knowGrin) when she first arrived, but she grew on me over time.

I loved Heston and his bow tie- yes, that Christmas cliffhanger was horrible, and the way they killed him off Sad.
Loved George and Ronnie, who are of course a RL couple.
Juuuuuulia and her annoying grandaughter and useless son.

They've had some very wtf stoylines - and I didn't mind them really, the tadpoles in handbags.
Some very sad episodes too. (Dr Nick getting runover was bloody hilarious though).
I loved Elaine, and her necklaces of doom. I'd haver liked to see her back for the last episodes, along with Mrs T . But loved Mrs T got her ending with the Rev.

Annoyed they never picked up on the 'date' Al had just before he was attacked- they had real chemistry, andsurely she would have tried to track him down? He was great with Niamh -her 'exit' story was bananas though.

Just too many things .Sad

Yes I wanted Al’s attackers to be brought to justice, but obviously not going to happen. I’ve watched it on and off since the beginning and l have lurked here for a while before I posted. I will miss the show and this community but luckily as I’m retired I am able to relive the show as it’s on uk drama every morning !
now watching Bargain Hunt with Emma, Bear , Scarlett and…..Valerie!

Raahh · 14/11/2024 12:24

I nearly forgot Bargain Hunt, but I'm glad I didn't Grin.

MadisonAvenue · 14/11/2024 12:27

Just a thought but I wonder if a future storyline of Al’s attack was abandoned due to the show being axed?

I read the other day that it was always planned for Graham to come into it but what we’ve seen over the last few months is a rushed version of the storyline as it was originally planned that it’d take place over a year or two. Perhaps Al’s attack had to give way for that?

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 14/11/2024 12:28

I like 6tl and Val's items 🙂🙂🙂

LIZS · 14/11/2024 12:33

I watched the early ones when home with ds , did it follow Neighbours? , then resumed about five(!) years ago. Heston was alive, Mrs Tembe was practice manager, Zara and Daniel had got caught at it, Valerie had Geoffrey, endless team building days ... they even had a second evening slot for a bit iirc. It never seemed to recover from the Covid hiatus and being only four days.

martinisforeveryone · 14/11/2024 12:37

That's interesting @MadisonAvenue

I'd forgotten Bargain Hunt but put it on as Emma and Val were looking at those little lady brass bells. I remember my grandma having a little one of those.

That makes sense, I suppose- so maybe the saving grace is we have been save a couple of years of seeing the slow burn of Graham sneaking in and taking over Grin. Plus, all his family back story.

So, the recent additions of Michelle /Graham- even Suni, to an extent , have felt rushed and not properly formed.

I also felt like they had to get rid of Daniel in a hurry. That seemed rushed. Hedidn't get much of a send off. But I never liked him really , so I wasn't so bothered. Grin

Long time lurker on this thread. Switched on to watch Bargain Hunt. I am in Scotland. We get John Swinney bungling his way through First Ministers Questions.

I like Dex with a beard.

It would have offset Bear's awful shirts.
