Those unpleasant negative comments about Casper and Adam, could also be turned onto Emma and Polly, to some degree. Like most women they are more polite than men, and they have not been as rude. And to be honest maybe the biggest part of the reason is that they are not unhappy with their matches.

I'm trying to remember when there was a female contestant who was very unhappy with her match.

Last year Arthur and Laura, Laura was quite disappointed that Arthur was not her posh, Chelsea boy. Thomas and Rozz, Rozz didn't like Thomas, but she was quite gutted by it. Again, she felt very much like she had to explain it,but I cannot remember what her reason was. Maybe sometimes there is not a reason we do not find someone attractive or right for us.

BluesBrotherz · 29/09/2024 18:14

I think Adam needs to cough up a couple of grand and put in a made to order Japanese life size sex doll. I don’t think he’s going to find what he wants in real life

MouseMinge · 29/09/2024 19:25

I think that Adam has managed at the very least brief relationships/flings with women who are close to his type but they don't work. There's no accounting for taste but clearly something about him is putting them off. Does he have enough money to flash the cash but eventually that's not enough? Does he seem fun to be with at first but ultimately his personality is lacking? It's not him it's them?

Who knows but like all of them - apparently - he's not been lucky in love which is why they're all there and not just for the 'gram.

I get some of what people sticking up for Caspar are saying but what are his redeeming features? I find his entitlement off putting and as I said previously his angry face - talking to the experts - scares me. Possibly/probably the edit but it's all we've got to go on so far.

I'm not particularly keen on Emma either and her whine and crisps is tired already but she's not raging about the man child. Yet.

I can't imagine a world in which I'd be on this show but crikey if I had the curves I'm currently lacking you'd have to pay me millions for the nightly humiliation those curves might cost me.

downthebackofthesettee · 29/09/2024 19:31

Either of these petite brunette beauties might be more to Adams liking. Is this more along the lines of what he was hoping for?

Everything you have written in the last couple pages I totally agree with, and I am at a loss as to why Casper is getting it in the neck.

Adam is a totally different ballgame as his attitude stinks, and has the moral compass of a gnat ( and that’s probably an insult on gnats) but Casper doesn’t fancy Emma for 2 main ( but major) reasons, and he is allowed to feel that, he is being upfront and not using her like shit lid did with Polly so I really don’t know what more he can do.

I am chubby but I go gym 5 days a week and I lift. God knows I love a gym rat but I do not find big bulky men attractive, I also would be put off by a man with a big gut ( and I say this as woman that doesn’t have a flat tummy)

Rather than a bulky man, I would actually prefer a man the same height as me and with a slight build ( I’m only 5ft3) but most women would be a bit put off dating a man that short/not find that attractive whereas that would not bother me in the slightest.

It is what it is, we can’t force ourselves to like what we don’t like, it doesn’t matter if he is a 4/10 or a 1/10, you like what you like and if that’s a petite woman ( or not curvy) then it is what it is. I don’t recall him saying she needs to be a 10/10 knockout stunner, he simply said attractive and his definition of attractive may be average looking to us, I personally don’t think any of the women on this year are particularly attractive with the exception of Richelle, but that’s just my opinion and many will disagree.

Casper shouldn’t force himself into being physically attracted to someone because he is average looking. Yes in the spirit of the “experiment” you should be open to getting out of your comfort zone but with Caspar maybe if she was Curvy but brunette and not essentially a double of his twin sister it may have worked but with I think there’s just too much for him to overlook.

AndThereSheGoes · 29/09/2024 21:21

Waterboatlass · 29/09/2024 16:12

Because she (probably with producer encouragement) kept pushing to see whether there was a physical attraction aside from the slight issue of resembling his sister. He was asked and answered honestly. Nobody is saying he was the most tactful about it but he didn't go on about it like Adam.

It's interesting that Adam and Polly bath say they do get on well. They apparently have a laugh despite everything. Adam just won't entertain the fact that's she's not his " ideal" and therefore not wife material for him.

Caspar's issues run deeper. The fact she's not slim isn't the issue, he really can't see her as dateable. Curvy and blonde are the least of their worries.

I don't get any sense that Caspar enjoys being rude about Emma. Adam on the other hand has no filter.

she's made it a huge stance against fat shaming

No, he’s done that. That’s the exact reason he gave for not finding her attractive. He could have told the truth - she reminds him of his twin sister and it’s messing with his head. Anyone with half a brain and a pinch of empathy would understand that. Emma definitely would, she’s met his sister.

Why is it fat shaming to say you don’t like a certain size?

Italiangreyhound · 30/09/2024 08:21

Thnks "hoxtonbabe*

I am 'curvy' and my husband is super slim. I have not been bigger all my life. I have never really gone for tall muscular men.

However I have dated a wide range of ethnicities and so I am not sure I could say I always have an exact type.

I wonder what people think about personality types?

Although my husband is my friend and I love being with him I don't think our personalities are at all similar.

I do think what one looks for in a partner is different from a friend and to some degree opposites do attract. In terms of having kids together two very similar people would probably not be great so differences are good.

Unfortunately, MAFS makes a mockery if the pretext by stiring up shit! Plus in old fashioned arranged marriages the 'arrangers' are usually family and have the couples best interests at heart!

Waterboatlass · 29/09/2024 16:21

Those who are Team Emma, totally respect your position and I'm interested in the division of opinion here.

Assuming things are roughly as we've seen on screen and allowing for some producer and post production interference, as we don't know the full truth of what was said and when:

What do you think Caspar should have said when asked by Emma whether he found her attractive and if asked whether he found curvy/ non petite women attractive?

He should've said she looked great in her wedding dress and she was attractive and that she's not his type but they're there as an experiment so let's give it the best they can and see if anything develops OR/AND that she reminds him of his sister and he's finding it hard to get past but again, willing to give it a go as that's what they're there for.

As Emma said "It's all in the delivery." She's pissed off he's checked out already without even trying and he's angry she isn't what he ordered.

Doubleraspberry · 30/09/2024 09:03

That’s absolutely it. And not just saying it but actually doing it. The sister thing might just be impassable but it might not. The only way to find out is to give things a chance. He doesn’t have to sleep with her. Just be a bit more open.

This. ^ Even though a few posters disagree, I believe that Adam and Caspar (as I said) are under this weird and bizarre illusion that they deserve something much better than Polly and Emma. ie, a slim and petite 'teeny tiny' little woman that they can display on their arm. What they are NOT seeing is that they are below average, very basic males, with nothing to offer a women except a dad bod, stupid hair, laughable teeth, horrible personalities, and a severe superiority complex.

I'm a 50-something overweight woman with very few assets, just a few grand in the bank, unmanageable curly/wavy hair, and a pretty basic dress sense. I can't cook/won't cook, and am a bit lazy around the house. I would like to date Harry Styles. Is he going to date an overweight woman 25 years older than him who CBA to cook, has mad hair that looks like Monica from Friends when it's humid, and wears Asda George jeggings and Tesco's 'F & F' T-shirts? Is he fucking heck as like! 😆

Same scenario. Basic boring average male with NOTHING to offer a woman - wants a woman who looks like Megan Fox or Michelle Keegan. All the LOLz!!!

That seems to be your value judgement though. I certainly don't think small women are 'better' than tall or curvy or athletic, etc etc.

People just have preferences. Which is fine.

Adam has been prescriptive in wanting someone 'unreal' but then his eyes seemed to light up at Lacey who I would say is a definitely 'real'. A short, curvy, pretty brunette. Not teeny tiny, just not a large build. One of the things he liked about Polly is her bum so I don't think it's about being skinny necessarily.

Adam has been very rude but I wonder if he is hung up on someone who looks that way (other than Megan Fox). Seems he's made a lot of changes to himself to try and be good enough. Maybe for someone who isn't interested?

For Caspar there's been nothing to say he wouldn't have given it a try with a size 14 woman whose looks and personality didn't remind him of his sister. perhaps he wouldn't have, but we will never know. Either way, he has never mentioned wanting a 'teeny tiny' display model.

excellent - all caught up & have finally found the thread

Love Kieran & Christina, hope they make it but can see it getting a bit explosive

Appalonia · 30/09/2024 17:22

You've got to remember that those couch sessions are MUCH longer than what we are shown. They can be an hour per couple. So what we are seeing is totally edited and we are only shown the bits that fit the narrative that the story editors have chosen for the participants. I also heard that the ' experts' are being fed lines to ask by the producers. So please do take it all with a pinch of salt. ( this is from listening to the podcasts where previous contestants have been interviewed, and it's shocking how differently they come across compared to how they are portrayed on the show ).

I don’t think anyone watching thinks it’s anything other than trash. All reality TV is trash, but some of it is entertaining.

dapsnotplimsolls · 30/09/2024 18:55

How very dare you all? It's clearly a documentary with the interests of every participant at the forefront of every decision made ...

Bring back the dreary old series when the genuine experts attempted to match people with actual science.

Then they had to share one of their grotty flats, still go to work and spend endless evenings playing cards for humanity with a glass of cheap Bulgarian wine. Absolutely no chance of fame or spon/collabs

Or embrace the fact that fabulous Emma will earn her right to a weekly dating phone in on This Morning after a few weeks of putting up with dreary Casper.

Bikini brands will be tripping over themselves to have her represent them.

Casper will be the loser at this rate.

Id actually like it to be in good faith as I like the concept! I saw a dating prog from 2000 or so the other week called Perfect Match and it was lovely. A really nice, normal, naturally attractive pair (I think the woman was the one being matched) put together by people who seemed to care about them. Wonder what happened to them! I think the second episode was a bit more a sign of things to come but still!
