Exactly. And it’s the men who don’t find the women attractive who are cajoled and pushed into relationships with their matches. You don’t find the women who are matched with men they e don’t find attractive being bullied into sleeping with them by the experts.

It’s happened in the past, and in other countries though. Morag for example?

burnoutbabe · 28/09/2024 09:30

The original usa couple. Jamie and Doug?
She did not fancy him at all.

And they are now 4 kids later.

Now Doug was a very nice chap and actually okay looking. A 6/7. Tall. The sort of man most women would be okay to date. So that helped.

Kieren looked quite attractive/pleasant looking at dinner party-his hair seemed normal/different from the wedding look.

wildlygreen · 28/09/2024 09:36

@burnoutbabe I loved Jamie and Doug, that was the only USA season I watched.

stonkytonk11 · 28/09/2024 10:34

Yes! I remember them..did they not do some sort of spin off programmes/series?

woodlandtrees · 28/09/2024 13:25

Been reflecting on Polly and Adam.

Adam doesn't find her physically attractive but Polly still draps herself over him and encroaches on his physical space.

If that was the other way round ie encroaching on a females space by a man that she clearly finds unattractive then there would be uproar.

wildlygreen · 28/09/2024 13:51

@woodlandtrees I was getting annoyed that she was doing that.

woodlandtrees · 28/09/2024 13:56

@wildlygreen

Ditto !

rc22 · 28/09/2024 16:08

I agree that if someone's not your type they're not your type. But then why go on MAFS if you're not willing to give it go with someone who is not your type? Surely they've seen the show before! In Shitlid's case, it's probably because he fancied a bit of reality TV stardom which also explains why he's choosing to stay and continue with someone he's claiming to not want a long term relationship with.

Lavenderfields21 · 28/09/2024 16:13

Caspar is a shell of the him in the intros.

wizzler · 26/09/2024 23:49

Part of me was hoping that when Casper asked why he was matched with Emma that the experts would say .... "well you know how you called your dog Bridget....."

🤣😂🤣

I do feel a tiny, weeny (really minuscule) bit of sympathy for Caspar. Sometimes you just don't fancy someone and it's hard to force it.

What I have no sympathy with, though, is his very obvious anger about it. How must it feel for someone to not only know their partner is disappointed, but that they are seething with rage about it - and not only angry with the 'experts' but angry with you - just for being you?

That's real entitlement.

It's not even that they are no guarantees on this show - it's far less hopeful than that. Stranger are paired and it works out in a vanishingly small number of cases.

It seems he thought he would order his perfect woman, she would be delivered gift wrapped and he is angry and cheated that that didn't happen.

I don't like at AT ALL

I don't feel sorry for him at all or anyone else who behaves like an entitlement prick because he doesn't get what he wants. There are ways of saying things without being hurtful and to write someone off before you've given them a chance is dickish behaviour. Mind you, there's reason all these people are single 😉

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 28/09/2024 17:28

I don't know of anyone has said it but Jamie and Doug from MAFSA have 4 kids now, just had identical twin boys. She howled on the wedding day as she didn't find him attractive!

Paul2023 · 28/09/2024 22:08

But Casper and Adam, who someone their wives attractive, are acting like their wives are punching!

Sorry but Casper and Adam are not Brad Pitt!

I couldn’t believe it when Adam
said don’t get to excited when he went to kiss Polly !

Paul2023 · 28/09/2024 22:19

Adam and Casper who said they don’t find their wives attractive I meant!

BIossomtoes · 28/09/2024 22:23

I’d really like to see their exes!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 28/09/2024 22:35

I always think of Doug and Jamie, and her on the floor crying. He almost glowed up before our eyes, just by being consistent, kind and patient with her everyday. But I think she was very open to the process, and very upfront about her own emotional demons that would often put a block in their way.

Italiangreyhound · 28/09/2024 22:44

I could be wrong but I think Jamie and Doug each offered something good to each other, and although there was no initial spark between them, love grew.

I thin the USA version does take things much more seriously and so do those who enter the show.

I noticed that. It is weird. And shows very little self respect. And a lot of entitlement.

VictoriaSpungecake · 28/09/2024 23:05

Italiangreyhound · 27/09/2024 21:39

As a larger (aka curvey) woman I find it really annoying the way larger women are matched with men who will not find them attractive. There is only one women on the programme I would describe as a petite brunette, and she is a lesbian, so not a match for Adam.

The choice to pair people up in this way leads to awkward 'confrontations' between the couples and then the 'experts' keep probing to find out why they are not clicking!

So, the guy has to say 'not my type' but if they say why then it's a big drama. I think it's quite offensive for women to have to appear to 'talk the guy into fancying them.' and it usually is that way round!

I agree with you. I think the producers are incredibly abusive to set the women up like that. For me this should be causing an outrage (similar to the Jeremy Kyle show scandal).

VictoriaSpungecake · 28/09/2024 23:08

LessonsinChemistryandLove · 27/09/2024 21:47

This season is so weird. The woman are all childish and weird and the men are all unattractive and weird! The experts really fucked this one up!

The producers fucked it up.

The experts and contestants are at their mercy. I feel really sorry for the experts because they are fighting a losing battle trying to deal with the crap the producers have created in an authentic and professional way. And failing miserably, but no-one could succeed when you've got producers who want to appeal to those who love trashy TV (I have to admit I sometimes love to watch all the drama, but i have a feeling it is soon going to wear thin even for me).

Speak to their hands - if you want to see their exes.

HaddyAbrams · 29/09/2024 00:49

I'm late to the party (as always) just watched episode 3 when Ross and Sasha got married. (I think that's the right couple)
Why does she keep going on about being celibate, and how important tradition is to her. And then mention that the longest she's been celibate is 2 years, because if she's single she's celibate. That's not even remotely unusual. I don't have sex outside of relationships. (Nothing wrong if you do, but it's not for me). I wouldn't say I'm celibate, as to me that implies never having sex.

MouseMinge · 29/09/2024 03:41

She got corrected by the experts at the first commitment thing. I think it's just a bit of The Princess Bride 'inconceivable' of "You keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means." She means abstinent but I guess celibate sounds more impressive. Or something.
