Is it just me, or did they edit out the bit at the beginning where Tess and Claudia shuffle awkwardly towards each other? 🤔

Yes they just appeared together rather than doing the awkward shuffle

BehindTheSequinsandStilettos · 28/09/2024 21:57

Except Ellie was also 5ft 1 but got Vito who's 5ft 11.
I wish Toyah had got Carlos now.
I feel she's having to be on the defensive/put on the back foot (pardon the pun) and he's happy to blame her/chuck her under the bus.
I thought they were going to be epic and he "got" her but now I'm not so sure.

Punam was undermarked. She nailed the characterisation and the sass, Craig was right. I should have given her a vote for that and to piss off the name-changing twunt who continues to make jokes about her nose. I see you.

Hideous outfit on Sarah there, and the over height heels to adjust for the height difference can't help.

I love the way that pros who've got a ringer can't resist giving them loads of spins just to show off. Always makes me giggle.

What is a ringer?

Pl242 · 28/09/2024 22:25

When Parklife came in my DD asked if it was the music from Mary Poppins 🤣

Tasha, Sarah And Montell the best for me, Pete was much improved from last week. generally a pretty high standard for week 2.

Tom Dean maybe in trouble, he was very stiff and went early on,

BirthdayRainbow · 28/09/2024 22:38

Crinkle77 · 28/09/2024 19:18

I think he can see light and shape but that's it.

He can't see anything. He got kicked in the face by Diane as literally couldn't see it coming. That's when she realised he couldn't see a thing.

I was over an hour late joining but watched on restart catch-up.

Tom made me a little anxious for some reason, he looks a little tight, but I still think he has potential, I just hope he lasts long enough to find it as I like him and Nadiya.

Punam was a lot of fun and sass! Gorka did a great job. It can't be easy working as a GP and training for Strictly - if she's going to continue she is going to have to think about that. She was undermarked for sure. The singer murdering Shania didn't help.

Paul was technically awful but did make me smile with the entertainment side. Jeez Karen is awesome. Why do they keep giving her duffers? Do they want her to quit?

Wynne looked a bit flat footed to me but moved very well. Katya really knows how to get the best from her slebs. He's obviously a production favourite, all that OTT hugging was Bleurgh and annoying.

JB was great, really enjoyed that dance and I think he will be a finalist, maybe overall winner. I thought the judges were quite mean to him, maybe they have very high expectations.

Sam was ... not great. Lots of errors, timing etc. but she's trying! I loved Vito's enthusiastic cheering behind her in the clauditorium

Chris is just amazing. Truly amazing. Props to Dianne, I've never loved her but goodness this is incredible what they are doing. I felt quite emotional when they finished.

Jamie was ok but I felt he stood a lot, didn't see much movement. It was pleasant and really quite good for week 2 but not memorable.

Toyah. Oh lord. First off, who does a jive in cowboy boots? Well she didn't really do a jive did she, very little actual dancing and what there was, was very slow. Faffing about big time.

Poor Nick looked really sore and Luba grabbing/leaning on his arm in the clauditorium made me wince! Parklife was very odd but he did well given the limited time this week. A bit of faffing but he actually moved very smoothly and was better than I thought.

MoJo. I didn't enjoy it, I thought she looked stiff, nervous and that she wasn't really enjoying it. Everybody else seems to love it though, including the judges.

Tasha and Aljaz were beautiful to watch, a real wow moment. Ok she is a dancer so should be good at choreo/body awareness etc, but that was really really good for week 2. Aljaz is so good at ballroom, makes it look utterly effortless and smooth.

Shayne had a hard act to follow after Tasha. Kidzwarz was a bit sickly, but the actual dance was pretty good! Nancy giving it all she's got, stunning dress too. Another great singer Teddy Swims song absolutely murdered by the SCD singer, it was painful and really showed how good Teddy's voice is!

Pete and the Pocket Goddess Jowita, my god she is gorgeous!! Not an awful lot of trad foxtrot but the lifts were great and I think he will improve.

Sarah. Can't really say much about Sarah as I couldn't take my eyes off Vito. How good is he at Paso?!?!?! I've added dance paso with Vito to my all time bucket list of wishes. He was incredible.

Given the top half of the leaderboard are likely safe, I would have voted for Punam (undermarked in the death slot) Nick for the sympathy vote and cos he was a lot better than week one, and maybe Pete although actually I think I would have to vote for Chris because it's just so remarkable what he's managing to do.

Full on Spirit Guide DeadNan in Week 2! Brazen! Montell, see if you can get her to poltergeist whoever it is choosing the godawful ballroom songs. Go Blair Witch on that motherfucker!

Talking of all things ghostly, take the dwarf from Don't Look Now, give it some amphetamines, backcomb its hair and stick it in some cowboy boots, and well .....

Can't believe we've missed the opportunity for a segment where Carlos forms a throuple with Toyah and Robert Fripp and is let loose in her wardrobe.

Those costumes and that wind machine made it look like Jamie and Michelle had just Duluxed their living room and were giving it a good airing. Get both windows open, Michelle. We need to get a good cross-breeze going.

Shirley's five years in Texas. San Antonio Maximum Security Women's Prison. You heard it here first.

Snuggle bunny Gorka in that kilt. Snuggle bunny Gorka in those trousers. Snuggle bunny Vito in that top.

That has to be the most inexplicable and bewilderingly bad song choice ever ..... PARKLIFE!

Poor Vito having to keep that fixed grin on his face as he pretended to recognise various second-tier stars of noughties British sitcoms.

Last year Karen couldn't give a shit in a bad way. This year she couldn't give a shit in a good way.

My dance of the night was Wynne's VW. Just a shining example of how perfect music and beautiful costumes and staging makes all the difference.

Do not like the way the couples no longer come down the stairs to the Strictly theme at the beginning. It's the show's identity, FFS!

Not keen on the new interview format in the Clauditorium. It was better when it was all spontaneous and chaotic. Now everyone feels lined up in their places and waiting for their cues. Kills the mood.

The little skits with Tess and the celebs and the judges also do not work because ...... well, Tess.

Not sure the main show is the right forum to discuss people being knobs on social media. Shayne is one of my guilty favourites but if people already think he's a bit too serious then that was a bit too serious.

Edited

Agree regarding introduction way too fast and wrong music.
And awfully rehearsed with Claudia.
Comedy with Tess no thanks

I assume she has researched techniques for teaching blind students and /or had help /advise from dance teachers with experience of teaching visually impaired students.
Di has massively gone up in my estimation in the last couple of weeks, some disabled contestants will have required adaptions to choreography or technique but the fundamental method of teaching dance would be the same as for any another celeb. Even Rose wouldn't have need the 'how to teach dance' manual ripping up and throwing away even if a few chapters had to be disregarded.

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2024 23:03

Atmosphere wasn't that good tonight. No controversial moments either. Sometimes need a bit of spark or drama.

TellingBone · 28/09/2024 23:15

I may have misheard, but amid Shirley's comments on Tasha did she say that she [Shirley] had taken an interest in Tasha's dance career over the years?

If so that seemed rather barbed and indicating to the audience a ringer.

Apologies if I misheard.

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2024 23:15

Why aren't they talking about Dr Punam being a TV doctor that's how she's on this.
Or else any random GP would be on Strictly.
She obviously doesn't work the same routine as GP s that don't do TV work.

She was talking to Aljaz in that bit I think - she said something about how it must be good for a partner to have him.

I forgot to vote! Fucks sake.

Lentilweaver · 29/09/2024 05:46

Loved J.B, Wynne and Sarah. What beautiful choreo from Queen Katya and cheeky Amy.

Thought Punam, Montell, Chris and Sam have promise. Any one of Paul, Nick or Toyah should go.

Enraged at wardrobe for putting poor Karen in that hideous leopard outfit and Michelle in a bra top for a rumba. Plus those ghastly PVC trousers on Gorka and those sequinned horrors on Tom.

Afraid Neil is just a terrible choreographer. So much for people claiming he helped Katya with her routines. He could never..!

Lentilweaver · 29/09/2024 05:50

Oh and yes, Punam terribly underscored. I like her and thought she did well for someone with zero dance training.

awaynboilyurheid · 29/09/2024 07:14

I missed week one as I was away and I’ve still to watch it, so from that perspective I really liked Shane and Nancy and she’s not one of my fav pro dancers but I loved it!
Also Wynn’s dance was amazing! Reminds me of the lovely Hamza light in his feet for a hefty chap.
Chris and Diane’s routine brought tears to me eyes it is simply phenomenal, when he jumped up on that bench and then timed it to jump to sit down with Diane well wow! Be good for any male non pro but when you are blind it’s incredible!

On the opposite end of the spectrum Nick Knowles blooming heck was he looking for a medal it was just a sore arm honestly felt he’s a bit man child and milking it, saying that he was slightly better than I thought he would be but only slightly.
Toyah has always annoyed me but I don’t mind Neil , ( would still much prefer Kai )
Poor Karen she’s become the female version of the joke act that Anton vacated and boy did she work hard last night!

CarmelaBrunella · 29/09/2024 07:23

I agree, @awaynboilyurheid - I completely saw Hamza in Wynne, both big men, but totally in tune with the music and light on their feet. I like Neil and think he's doing a good job with Toyah. Tom is a little disappointing, I'm not sure that the partnership with Nadya is working.
Pete and Jowita had some chemistry!
