Everyone needs to chat a lot about this so the thread fills up quickly and I stop having the stupid vengabus song stuck in my head constantly.

Real shame not to have Kai partnered this year, we will miss him.

Going to miss Kai, and Lauren was great last year.

No partners for Carlos, Kai or Lauren …. All were great last year

Jamie & Michelle - She'll have to wow me more than tonight.
JB & Amy - I know they'll be pushing her to make the final. Meh.
Montell & Johannes - fire + fierce
Nick & Luba - I usually like him. I find her bland.
Paul & Karen - Sympathy vote for Vindaloo.
Pete & Jowita - he makes me laugh and I like a good showmance
Punam & Gorka - Might surprise me
Sam & Nikita - I find them both bland
Shayne & Nancy - He was earnest. She isn't my favourite pro.
Tasha & Aljaz - Nice waltz but what else?
Tom & Nadiya - Has he got dance experience too? They looked good together
Toyah & Neil - I like an underdog and they're both certifiably insane
Wynne & Katya - Her choreo should give him a fighting chance
Sarah & Vito - I like her. I find him too much.

I hope Toyah stays in longer than the Dad Dancers or Neil won't ever get another shot.
Luba/Nancy/Nadiya have done their turns on the bench. As has Lauren. It might have been kinder to have benched Karen.
Carlos would have been a good fit for Toyah. Kai would have been good with Tasha. Lauren would have been good with Jamie or JB.

Tom doesn't have dance experience at all, he made that quite clear.

I'd have preferred to see Lauren, Kai and Carlos in it and have Luba, Aljaz and Gorks as reserves.

Very happy that Tasha has Aljaz but equally would have been happy with Kai (booooo! where IS HE!) I know she has some dance experience but it's very street, so I will consider her no less ringer than some other contestants from previous years.

I think, despite all the furore, this could be a very good year!

The choreography to that awful Cry Baby song was a bit Pan's People at times.

We thought that. Very literal at points.

Even though I don't really like the launch show format, I'm actually much more enthusiastic for the series after that.

So far Team MoJo are my favourite. Montell seems like a good sport and is already getting into the whole Strictly vibe. I think they will go far.

I hope Nadiya does well with Tom this year.

We've not had an East Asian contestant before, so I'm pleased Sam Quek is paired up with Nikita. I hope she gets better than what I've seen tonight though.

Wynne and Katya could be fun. She's an amazing choreographer.

Chris and Jamie both seem like good fun. It will be interesting to see Michelle with a partner.

Cos the Alijaz Gurn was missed that much.

Also his family's career depends on Strictly surviving. He can't afford for both him and Jeanette to be out of work. He's going to be proper loyal and can't afford to shag anyone. He's as trustworthy as they come (which probably means there will be a surefire scandal come out).

Jamie and Michelle are going to make me vomit by about week two.

Paul or Dean are sacrificial week 1 exit. Paul's been set up for it with vindaloo though. Nick Knowles will survive a couple of weeks cos he took big to just go. Need to milk the fact he's actually recognisable unlike the other celebs before he's allowed to go.

Except Aljaz was rumoured to have caused a dancer upset through inappropriate, which should be called bad, behaviour.

I felt really sorry for Karen, and foresee an early exit for Gorka too as his partner is not remotely high profile.

Pete looked as if he could move better than I’d expected, and Sam looked more stiff than I’d expected.

Ah, I got confused by the way it was being used as if it was his first name and thought there must have been another contestant that I’d missed!
