This looks right up my street

6 parts on Mon Tue wed for 2w

Channel 5 has announced that new mystery drama, The Wives, will start on Monday, September 16. Starring Jo Joyner, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Angela Griffin as sisters-in-law Beth, Sylvia and Natasha,

the six-part series follows the tumultuous aftermath of their sister-in-law Annabelle Morgan's disappearance during a family vacation in Malta.

As the story unfolds, viewers will see the characters' lives thrown into turmoil as Annabelle vanishes, leaving her husband Charlie and daughter Sky (www.walesonline.co.uk/all-about/sky) behind. With her phone discovered at a c
lifftop, authorities presume a fatal accident.

Fast-forwarding, the Morgans reconvene for a trip abroad, aiming to put the past behind them. Tensions surface when Charlie introduces his new, much younger girlfriend who bears an uncanny resemblance to the missing Annabelle

Doubt creeps in among the family members, leading Beth, Sylvia, and Natasha to question the nature of Annabelles disappearance and ponder if foul play was involved.

Resolving to uncover the truth, they embark on their own sleuthing mission.
In a gripping trailer for the show, confusion and suspicion mounts as Beth Morgan voices her disquiet: "Jade has showed up on the anniversary of Annabelle's death, wearing her clothes. It's just not normal! ", reports the Mirror (www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/channel-5-confirms-release-date-33631990)
.

Beth confesses to her family that she suspects Jade played a role in Annabelle's untimely end.

As they shadow Jade and Charlie across Malta, it becomes evident that secrets are being kept about the 'true' events of what transpired.

The Wives is a brand new six-part whodunnit style drama coming to Channel 5 in mid-September, with a star-studded cast including Jo Joyner, Tamzin Outhwaite, and Angela Griffin.

The series follows the Morgan family as they try to move on one year after the disappearance of a family member (Annabelle). Jo, Tamzin and Angela play three sisters-in-laws Beth, Sylvia and Natasha, as they attempt to piece together the shock disappearance of their other sister-in-law, Annabelle, in Malta.

Just finished watching tonight's episode. So many family speeches 😆

It's very watchable. Realised Beth's husband is the same actor as ghost soldier in Ghosts.

Agree with pp, Annabelle is not dead. Expecting her to pop up in the last episode.

Jade is a gold digger and using Charlie.. Do we know what the family business is?!

Reckon Luca wants Tash to hide a gun. He told Sylvie he knew of Annabelle's death... Wondering if he was involved - could be she owed him money from the gambling?

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 18/09/2024 22:32

Ooh good spot @LemongrassLollipop it is him!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2024 22:48

I think she is dead and Charlie knows this but as no body/washed away he needed a fake death certificate or else has to wait another 6yrs

Omg! Didn’t realise it was him! I love ghosts as well!

Well they all seem to be in a financial bind.

Tonight we also heard that Charlie is infertile so who is Sky’s father?

We also now have several dodgy Local characters in the mix.

What will the brothers also uncover about the family business and the financial crisis that is currently facing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 00:11

I'm guessing one of the other brothers is skys dad

So which hubby has been unfaithful

He plays Jude's husband in Bridget Jones' Baby as well.

Do we think Annabelle is the mysterious Ocean-something22 that Sky is messaging with? Her birthdate is 22 November which Jade used to unlock Charlie's banking app.

I think Luca knew about Annabelle's disappearance because he's a local and it would have been big news, although he could have been involved in some other way. We also only have Charlie's word that she was a gambler - it could be a cover story for him taking money out of the business, which is something to do with storage.

Finding it quite ironic that Tamsin Outhwaite is playing a character with a cheating ex-husband called Tom Grin Suspect not much acting required when she was slagging him off!

I did wonder if ocean22 was skys mum but super impressed with how observant you are about the birthdate. It does make it more likely

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 14:32

I'm
Impressed with your detective skills!!!

That though didn't even cross my mind

But I think she is dead so can't be messaging

I was behind. Watched two episodes on catch up and am now up to date I think, having seen the third.

Yes, it's typically Channel 5 vibes, but I'm enjoying the intrigue and looking forward to twists and turns.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 19/09/2024 15:17

Have to say I’m enjoying it far more than I thought I would.

butterpuffed · 19/09/2024 15:31

I'm enjoying it apart from all the cheesy songs that keep being played .

There are dodgy men and lying women in it so who knows how it'll turn out !

ItWasOnAStarryNight · 19/09/2024 16:18

Sky is definitely messaging her mum who is alive. Her real Dad will be Jo Joyners fella.

Annabelle is played by Christine Bottomley (Early Doors), why would they cast her if she wasn't going to act? 🤣

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 16:54

Maybe we will see flashbacks

I am actually really enjoying this. All caught up and agree that I think Sky is messaging her mum, although not sure she realises.

ItWasOnAStarryNight · 19/09/2024 19:08

Probably doesn't know it's her mum

Manypaws · 19/09/2024 20:29

It's a bit daft but I've actually started to enjoy it

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 19/09/2024 20:39

Sky seems genuine in her grief so I don’t think she does know who she’s messaging.
